this is def the best way. the problem i have with tk air fbs, is that i don’t find them outstandingly useful. if the opponent is standing when they block them they get free grabs and stuff. when i get a chance im just gonna spend a whole day trying to tap the potential of these things but until then…idk
Do you mean you havent found consistent application of TK air fireball? I’m wondering as well. I learned the motion not too long ago and am of course gonna use it constantly for a bit but I dont find a lot of use for it. Outside of untechable knockdowns, youre landing just as soon or sooner than your fb. Helloooo reversal.
I remember seeing FourWude pull this off, tk air fireball, quickly jump to other side to cross up. was pretty amazing but I can’t do it consistently.
I use it for jump back fireballs, to cover your retreat, and also for cross-up fireballs. That’s pretty much it.
I think the motion for a buffered jump back fireball is the mirror of cammy’s quick canceled air cannon drill. I actually didn’t even know the Tiger knee fireballs were done like this.
Yeah pretty much the same, backwards TK Fireballs are pretty good against Honda for instance, who will headbutt you clean out of the air otherwise. The low fireball covers more horizontal space.
sorry im a very new akuma player, can you please go through the motion of this?
is it 2 3 6 7 small pause punch?
Wow i hope this really works thanks. This will be in my mixup combos! =P
There really isn’t any “right” way to do it. Things have a “right” motion when they need to be done fast, i.e. commands where the faster you can get the inputs done the better. In those cases, minimal inputs are best.
But with TK fireball, you can’t execute on the earliest possible frame, so minimum input is irrelevant. Even the slowest method (jump, and then do the fb motion after) can be done so fast that it won’t come out if you’ve got quick hands.
So basically, the best motion is whatever mentally works best for you to hit the correct window. Just try different inputs until you find one that is reliable for you, it will be different for everyone.
That’s a good tactic to use, I need to incorporate that into my Akuma play a lot more. Do you know if he can ultra through it? I think his ultra doesn’t have top hitbox invincibility.
Nope, for backwards TK fireballs I just go:
:ub::l::db::d::df::r:+:p:
For forward TK fireballs, I don’t really TK the fireball at all – I do it normally:
:uf::d::df::r:+:p:
I find that doing cammy’s tiger knee dive kicks are easier than Akuma’s TK fireball i do the motion and the shit don’t wanna come out.
I suggest Ex-Lax, but be prepared to set aside about 8 hours to really get all the shit out!

Hey i made a brief tutorial on the crossup air vortex fireball

Great Vid…This should bring the X-Up Fireball to greatness.
Bumping this because I’m finding it an essential high-level tactic that I’m having trouble performing in one situation: after demon flip throw.
How do you guys perform this after DFT? After a demon flip palm knockdown it is simple to apply this trick and it is also easy to get into position. After demon flip throw I’m finding it difficult. If I walk forward to place myself at their feet and then tk the ball, I suspect the forward motion (from my walk up) interferes with the tk motion and the ball doesn’t come out. Likewise after forward dashing.
I’m curious if there’s something I’m missing here or if its perhaps character specific.
Another thing worth nothing is that I’m seeing some matches from Tokido where he’s clearly not doing the tk motion for the ball (given away by it not coming out instantly) and seemingly jumping first and then (very) quickly hurling a fireball. Oddly, this actually appears to work and position him correctly. I haven’t had success in doing it this way and as such only use the tk motion personally. Has anyone else found (proper) cross up air balls possible using this method?
it would be nice to get some notes in here with respect to methods used to get into position to place the air ball. After a palm knockdown or demon its simple, but after the DFT I suspect things are a little tricker.
How do YOU do it?
dash up > df,f,uf,f+P
i also dash up and tiger knee it, you can kind of slow down the tiger knee fireball and do it higher up to make it not cross up.
I did some tinkering and found the following works well:
Demon flip grab, immediately dash once, jump up-towards, immediately perform a normal jab air fireball (i.e. not the TK version).
This places the ball properly for a crossup and you land in the correct position - i.e. behind them. I feel this explains why I’ve seen Tokido doing it this way and not using the TK version (after grab). Essentially because it works. I have no doubts that TK air ball works, though I find the dash floods out the inputs which is what has been making it unreliable for me.
This isn’t to be confused with demon flip palm knock downs where the TK fireball after standing at their feet is essential for correct placement and crossing up.
Hey Ca$$iu$ Check$, the new technique you explained really helped me get the technique down. Just wanted to let you know that another person actually applied it and benefited from it.
And nice video, Dellenyum.
I just dont see the real use out of tk air fb’s. They seem like they come out way too early and leave you at a huge frame disadvantage. Unless youre trying to catch an AA, I dont see the use. It seems like jumping an instantly doing the motion is a better choice.
