Tiers for obscure games

Who was joking?

This isn’t even really a thread about ā€œshittyā€ games, more like obscure games. Most of these games being tiered are awesome.

The review that we did was for the Genesis version. As far as the SNES version goes Flash and Green Arrow are top tier. Despero is also really good, but I think we had him right below those two.

I see. I was kind of thrown off because the first few games mentioned were Shaq Fu and Mortal Kombat 1 (They probably mentioned Ballz 3D here, somewhere). Anyhow, I really do think Street Fighter 4 is one of the shittiest fighting games I’ve ever played, if not that, then the most overrated. I mean, it’s just so average! There’s nothing special about the game, but it gets attention when most fighters have done either the same thing, or BETTER, but people ignore them completely. My theory is 1. Street Fighter 4 is popular because of it’s title (NOT A GOOD REASON). 2. Street Fighter 4 is popular because people can get into it easily and learn the game fast without having to figure out the game. (This is debatable, I think it’s stupid because it just means other games don’t get a chance because people don’t want to take 10 damn minutes to figure out how the game works) 3. It’s Street Fighter 2 mainstreamed up the ass with generic music, 3D Graphics, and shortcuts so everyone can do an uppercut without having to put forth the effort. (That doesn’t matter so much, but it’s annoying because I LIKE putting uppercut motions in.) 4. It got mainstream advertisements and people HAVE to follow what Gamespot or IGN says. "-_- Honestly, I see no reason to like the game as much as it’s liked. It’s just another average fighter and not that big a deal.

Anyhow, if this really is about obscure games, I guess I’ll talk about one.

Battle Tycoon for the SNES. This game is kind of interesting for a fighting game. It kind of has a pseudo-RPG thing that involves adding stats to your character and upgrading things about them. All the characters kind of have some Art of Fighting inspired abilities to them as well. There can’t really be a tier because of the upgrade system, unless everyone’s maxed out or something. I don’t want to have to do all that though Shrugs Anyhow, check it out sometime I suppose.

Overall SFIV is NOT a bad game. It’s solid and holds up in the tourney scene. That’s all it is really. Is it great? Hell, no. But it’s playable and so it will see play.

I mean the ā€œwho said I was jokingā€ line has already been reused. Pro-tip if you have a really clever idea for a joke maybe check the thread, other people have done it first.

Does anyone want to tier Fighter’s Megamix? I loved that game when I was younger, I’m still trying to remember who I thought was best, Hornet was pretty good. Oh I played Candy all the time.

@Worm

But I wasn’t trying to be clever, I was actually quite serious. I think SF4 is a horrible game and I’m just being straightforward. Why confuse people by trying to be ā€œcleverā€ instead of being straightforward

@EmblemLord

Basara’s at the tournament scene in SBO, that’s all I need to say my friend.

There are far worse games my friend. Does it have scrubby shit? Sure does. Get used to it. It’s the casual age and it ain’t going anywhere. Accept it or just play old shit. *shrug

@EmblemLord

Well, maybe I am being harsh, but I just wish more people would stop giving so much attention to this game when it’s really not that good. I mean, it’s popular, but that’s it. It’s really nothing special and I just wish people would stop treating it like such. After playing dozens and dozens of fighting games way before SF4, I was hyped for the game’s release. I thought ā€œI bet this game is going to be an impressive release.ā€ and was ready for it. Instead, I got Street Fighter 4. By the way, don’t be deceived by the year I joined, I was playing 2D fighters way before I joined this site. I just didn’t join till recently because

  1. (And no offense, I’m sure this probably doesn’t apply to you) I hear most of the people on SRK are idiots, hardheaded, or just assholes.

  2. I’m not one who travels to real big, mainstream sites often. I like to go to small communities.

  3. My friend told me to join (I didn’t want to after the disappointment I had with SF4, but I did to make that one thread)

  4. I know better places (No offense) to learn about my characters in a fighting game and usually try learning in training mode immediately.

As for the holding in a tournament thing, Basara’s at the tournament scene in SBO, that’s all I need to say about that one my friend.

I think SF4 is ultra scrubby, but just IMO, scrubby shit happens in old games too. IMO Balrog and Dhalsim throw looops as well as old sagat fireballs was severe scrub shit in ST. But that game’s actually fun, so w/e.

Dude…most people everywhere are idiots.

@Siberianhusky89
Stop trying to ruin the thread you humorless twat. You can screech about SF4 in so many other threads. It’s pretty evident this is for having fun and tiering obscure games and you have to try to start shit here because you’re a rote shithead who can’t have fun.

Fantastic dude, if I wanted to see someone with a thumb up their ass I’d find a free homosexual website. Now either list tiers for Fighter Megamix just just get the fuck out. Thanks.

Even if you were serious, this is a thread about tier lists. Don’t you think there are a million tier lists for SFIV in the SFIV forums? Why even talk about SFIV in this forum section when it’s got it’s own massive section. Let’s keep FGD about misc fighters.

Just asking…why does the thread need to be named Shitty? Majority of the games listed actually are pretty good and playable.

It’s a really old thread, the title was set in january 2007… Guess the OP didn’t see coming that the thread would turn out like this :rofl:
I guess the title still stands because OP isn’t around or because of tradition or whatever.

Wtf are you doing on here scrub. Get back to wtfux.

<- Kasey

Kasey will you tier Fighters Megamix? :3

street fighter II for the gb?

not really a competitive game but i used to love playing it

Shit… I’m destroyed, this argument can’t be defeated. You win EmblemLord and I’m a bit serious… That’s kinda sad.

@Worm

So let me get this straight. By stating one thing about how I hate SF4, I ruined the thread. Since when the Hell did I have the power to ā€œruinā€ the thread? Also, just relax a bit, I’m not insulting someone (A person) so don’t insult me. I’m not trying to diss you, but I’m just trying to show that I’m not against you in reality. What I mean is, I’m not trying to really insult anyone and I’d appreciate it if you don’t insult me. Sorry if I’m no good with words, but you get what I mean right? Anyhow, if I had to tier a game that was obscure… Hm…

This is probably the most broken fighting game around… I’ve never seen such busted, complex combos in any game besides this one. Karate Champ for the arcade.
