Tiers for obscure games

Voltage Fighter Gowcaizer, a.k.a., the game of one-move spam and 50% combos

S+ Tier

  • Karin- Overheads a plenty, nearly unbeatable rushdown, unfair pokes, and she has good re-dizzy options and can go past anyone’s guard for a guaranteed dizzy if she has any of the mini-Karins out.

S Tier

  • Gowcaizer- He can kill anyone with just 2 combos and he can easily escape corner lockdown. He doesn’t get much out of anyone’s moves because his moveset is basically complete already, although Karin’s move can help his pressure game

  • Brider- He’s a slightly worse Gowcaizer because his damage is lower and he can’t escape the corner as easily as Gowcaizer. He does have the fastest walking speed and best set of aerial normals with half of them having cross-up potential

A+ Tier

  • Shaia- She’s safe from Karin’s broken ass copyable because she has many ways to easily kill them and Shaia has great keep-away. Her combo potential is nonexistent and some of her moves leave her wide open. She is horrible without Hellstinger’s copyable because it allows her to knock people away to let her re-establish her keepaway. If she gets rushed down, its pretty much over for her.

A Tier

  • Shenlong (with a time limit)- Bad normals because a lot of them leave have long animations and he does stupid poses at the end of some of them and his DP has horrible range. He does do the best chip damage and his fireball has a long animation, so its useful for getting victory by time. He has a 50+% combo like most the cast does. He’s the worst character if the time limit isn’t on because he’s easy to punish and many other characters have 50+% combos that are easier to set up and they can’t be punished as easily as Shenlong.

  • Marion- Yet another character with a 50+% combo and he can hover in the air and shoot bullets as a form of keep away. Marion can also take the most damage before dying or becoming dizzied. He has pretty bad range on his kick normals and he’s slow as hell.

B Tier

  • Hellstinger- He controls the skies in this game and is really hard to rushdown and dizzy because he can hit-and-run with ease. He’d be at least A+ tier if he could do more damage. He’s also pretty fast, though not as fast as Karin or Brider.

  • Kyosuke- The only good things about him as his long range pokes, quick normals, and his corner infinite. Kyosuke is bad otherwise because his options are limited without a pet, he’s slow, has the worst air game of all the characters, and his pets are easy to kill. Karin’s move makes his infinite a bit unreliable because the clones can kill the monkey (which is required for the infinite) or hit Kyosuke to give the opponent time to recover.

  • Fudomaru- He’s just mediocre all-around. Although he has high damage combos, they don’t knock down or knock back very far, so he’ll often trade blows with people. His counter does a lot of damage on its own and can be set up with Karin’s move, but it leaves him open to be punished.

  • Captain Atlantis- He has the best damage potential in the game, but he’s really slow, lacks a good AA, and his 50+% combo requires a charge move, so it isn’t as easy to use as other mega damage combos. He also dies for free to Karin’s move because his lows are horrible and will often go right over the clones’ heads, so he can often be hit out of block and not be able to do anything about it. His normals are all really good and have long range. He’s also a huge target.

C Tier

  • Shenlong (no time limit)- He sucks without time limit, period

you forgot Ihadurca

**
you fuck!**

Now that sucks.

I just read a good review on this game on Kurt’s site and you all are telling me its a bad game?

I was just about to buy this online.

Here’s an interview with the creator - http://www.horror-video-games.com/features-1028-TerrorDrome_Interview_with_Marc_Echave.html
Both links at the end of the interview are broken…
In the interview he states that none of the license holders have contacted him about the characters… But that was 4 months ago, so who knows what has happened since than…

It looks pretty interesting for a small development team…

Mongo, the balding mercenary from Sammy’s Survival Arts, can finish off the final boss with a SINGLE ATTACK. That attack, by the way, is a series of nuclear bombs that covers the entire screen. I was playing the game and struck the last boss with one of these bombs as he was kneeling. He had a full life bar before the bomb strike, and lost it all from that one attack. His life bar was still draining for a couple of seconds after he hit the ground. Ridiculous.

Top Fighter 2000 MK VIII(shitty pirate game)

Top tier:
~ Ali
The main reason he’s on the top is because of his special move :qcf: + :k: , which makes him invincible to all attacks while performing it. It also has lots of range and is really fast. His crouching “kick” has also a good range and is extremly fast.

Upper tier:
~ Joden
All of his normal attacks are worth to use. His projectile is possibly the best in the game(works most the time). The evade-specialmove can be useful in some situations.

~ Geese
:d: + :p: can be used as anti-air(effective) and :qcf: + :k: is an awesome attack when used close to the enemy(especially to keep the opponent in the corner).

Mid tier:
~ Kyo
Has effective attacks with good range and good special moves(his uppercut is possibly the only good one in the game). His supermove does the most damage of all but has less range than the other ones(still useful).

~ Ryu
Not much to tell about Ryu in this one. His :d: + :k: is extremly fast and should be used often in close fights. The tornado kick(I’ve forgotten it’s name ) is good as anti-air.

~ Goku
Goku has good normals but just two specialmoves(teleport and projectile), which limits him a lot. His biggest strenght are his fast jumps(in combination with his air-kick).

Low tier:
~ Ryo
Has the most specialmoves(4) in the game but way too slow normal attacks.

Bottom tier:
~ Cyclops
The most useless character of the roster. His projectiles are a bit longer than the ones of the other characters but that’s not really a advantage for his gameplay. The uppercut doesn’t have any range(it’s kinda like the shinryuken, just without button tapping) and so do his crouching attacks. The air-kick is is horrible and shouldn’t be used at all.

notes.

  • All characters in the game are able to shoot projectiles(except Ali*) and have nearly the same gameplay.
  • Using specialmoves doesn’t always work but it’s possible to perform them easier using an negative-edge like technique.
  • No throws.
  • Supermoves can be interrupted from any kind of close attack.

PS: I will check the content again after playing that game against someone. Some stuff that I wrote is incorrect.

  • but has a projectile-supermove

no S tier Mileena and Jax
F tier everyone else

man played the hell out of that game. They were so stupid.

not even joking Jax beats everyone but mileena by a mile and mileena is only character that is even or better on jax. Kitana seemed best of the fair characters, but liu kang unless he has something broken I don’t know of doesn’t stand a chance.

Mileena TK projectile spam and teleport punishment for Jax ground pound let’s her beat everyone in the game pretty easily. Than again if Jax touches her gg.

Jax - best anti-air, double ground pound unblockables with amazing recovery, and deals retard damage. Really unless you have a teleport and strong zoning you don’t stand a chance. Also don’t jump … ever …

Castlevania Judgment tiers (in no order):

Top
Shanoa
Aeon

High
Eric
Alucard
Simon
Death

Mid
Carmilla
Trevor
Sypha
Cornell
Golem

Low
Grant
Maria

Bottom
Dracula

I haven’t met experts for every character but so far I can agree with Shanoa, Aeon, Eric, Alucard, Simon, Carmilla, Maria and Dracula.

The list was made by the best players (who don’t play dirty and stuff since I have fought them).

Sooo… Scrubs?

Edit: Or did you mean like… Disconnect? Because as it stands, my thoughts go directly to the time I visited a Casjud board, read someone calling for the ban of spamming moves, and left immediately.

Dude, if you bought it, I would teach you all the stupid shit that makes it awesome.

It’s one of those fighting games that’s shitty in a good way.

Disconnect is one major point. Also spamming to a degree. Although the downside of spamming is being predictable, it also doesn’t teach us anything about the character (or their skill for that matter). I’m not really one to disagree on spamming but one major thing that is really boring and “dirty” are people who choose large stages, does some rather annoying attack to you then run away the entire match hoping for a time over so they win. If you’re playing Dracula and the other opponent runs away, there is nothing you can do to win. Might as well just idle, drink a coke and wait for your loss. I fought some people recently who had very poor skills and tactics and pulled off some attacks that was really hard to avoid or block and when I got hit, they would run away and camp the corners. Luckily I still beat them (because other than that, they were really weak) and what do they do? Disconnect.

You’re correct when you said scrub. Long story short, to me, a spammer (in this game anyhow) is someone who uses the same tactic or move and depends only on that to win. Once you break through it, they’re as good as dead. Therefore I don’t mind people who use the same tactic (much), as long as they know how to adapt and do other things as well.

I was just pointing out that the tier list was made from indepth knowledge for each character, not just one move or two. Luckily some characters can’t really spam anything so if you’re using them, there’s almost no way people can call you a spammer. :stuck_out_tongue:

I see. I’ve never actually played it online, so I wouldn’t really know. How is the “scene” for the game doing anyway? Because what I have played offline, I thought it was pretty cool, and I found it sad that the community seemed to have turned into the typical “don’t do this, don’t do that” players, when I checked up that forum.

It’s too bad Dracula is that bad, because I found it very interesting how they made him play like he usually acts in the games as a boss

Does anyone have a full tier list for Battle Arena Toshinden 2?

I loved that game.

Glad to see you putting interest on this -maybe- underrated game. Also your new combos are very good!

Just wanted to say that. And the tier list seems ok to me but my experience with the game is imited too.

Balanced game is balanced.

aUUUUUUUUUUULRAGHT!

Haha, reptile does not have a single good matchup. That is officially retarded.

Captain America and the Avengers SNES/Genesis Training Versus Mode Tiers

S Tier
Iron Man
Vision

Pretty much identical. Both have projectiles that can be spammed from the air, and can be fired downward at an angle or straight forward to counter attempts at air attacks.

A Tier
Captain America - Only character whose projectile can hit when thrown or on the way back, but lacks a downward air shield throw.

B Tier
Hawkeye - Identical to Cap, but without the projectile return. His normal punch is really awkward looking, but seems to have the same range at everyone else.

Characters are debatable, but all home versions of this game are hot garbage.

Reptile shit tier? I thought his Force Ball was one of the best combo/juggle setups in the early MKs?

In MKII, this move has horrid startup and can be nullified with a crouching low kick. He also has the weakest projectile in the game.
