Tiers for obscure games

what is the tier list for clay fighter and fighters destiny?

Haha, why is the title of the thread suddenly censored? Weak!

Tiers for Suikoenbu? Anyone played that a lot?

Lol everyones asking for tiers and no one is posting 'em. Seems more one sided than Congress right now

We should start a thread were we pick one obscure/bad(the more obscure/bad the better) fighting game each week(month?), and we all try to play it seriously and report our findings and at the end of the week attempt to make some sort of tier list. Kinda like a book club for weird fighting games.

Anyone got a tier list for X-Men Academy 2?

This would be a good monotony breaker. I’d be down for this.

I think Mystique was near the top and Spidey was shit tier. Havok was somewhere in the mix at the top as well.

That’s a really good idea. Toss out a name, I love playing the shitty fighters.

That’s a great idea.

I just have one question, since Smash isn’t a fighting game, we don’t have to pick it up, right? You see, the situation is… I would kill myself before I pick up Smash.

Not only that, it’s not a very obscure, unplayed game either

Well, since there seems to be some interest… Should we start a new thread or use this one?
Any ideas for a game to start with? Preferably something old on emulation I guess, so everyone who wants to can obtain it easily. :wgrin:

Oh God yes. That would be awesome.

Most of the games discussed in this thread have had a bit of play. Most of the ones in this channel don’t. Maybe pick one of them up? One that’s easy to find?

That’s a gold mine. Tough Guy looks awesome! I vote for that.

The PSX has a lot of crappy fighting games too. And a few really werid ones like Slap Happy Rythm Busters (but that’s pretty well known I think).

As long as one of us can find the game and make it run, we could probably get it around somehow.

Man, this game has some weird graphics… Can’t tell if it’s 3d, 2d or like… Painted over 3d or something.

I was actually thinking Fight’N’Jokes but procuring that seems impossible. That video channel is for the Lost Games Blog. Can’t link that for obvious reasons. Even though these games are dead and forgotten :frowning:

Here’s Tough Guy… The graphics are really pretty actually :wow:
(maybe I can’t link, removed. just google abandonware ā€œtough guyā€ and take the second one)

Got it running in DosBox too

I’ll see if I can find Fight n’ Jokes , missed that video

This kinda depends on if your character has their weapon or not?

Looking at Shi Jin, with his weapon, he has excellent range, his crouching medium slash and standing light kick are great for poking, and his crouching hard slash along with his Flaming Serpent Sword are great anti-air attacks.
Now, w/o his sword, he loses his anti-air attacks (his crouching hard punch still does have an anti-air to it, it’s just not nearly as effective as when he’s armed), his combos on the other hand, improve greatly. You have so many options, it’s just a matter of you knowing what does what per normal or special move.

Add to this, that when you do lose your weapon (or toss it away), you’ll lose a special move (or 2), but will gain a move as well.
Lu Zhi Shen is pretty solid with his weapon, but when he loses it, he gains one of the most annoying projectiles in the game… Not to mention, his punches are faster, and you can chain normal attacks much easier w/o your weapon.

Back to your question. I would put the tier list like this:

Top:
Chao Gai, Shi-Jin, Dai-Zong, Li Kui, Xiao Qi

Mid:
Lin Chong, Lu Zhi Shen, Xiao Wu, Xiao Er, Wu Song

Low:
San Niang, Gong Shun Sheng

The arcade version is good, but the Saturn version plays much more smoother, and the combo system is improved as well (as far as chain combos are concerned).

Wow, Tough Guy is a strange looking one. I’ll play that for a week.

The names in the arcade version are Japanese  Thanks though, I’ll figure it out from here. I guess I’ll look into the Saturn version as well if its superior.

I’ll make a new thread, and we can continue this there

Sorry about that… I’ll start naming in order from the top on the character select screen going to the bottom:

Shi-Jin
Lin Chong
Hu San Niang
Dai Zong
Li Lui
Lu Zhi Shen
Gong Shun Sheng
Wu Song
Ruan Xiao Er
Ruan Xiao Wu
Ruan Xiao Qi
Chao Gai (I don’t think you can select him the arcade version, as he is the boss, and you can only use him in 2 player vs mode).

Btw, nice find fallot… The link with lanzuma’s youtube account!

And that FX-Fighter -
Was that not released on thew SNES? As I could of sworn that I saw it in a issue of EGM…
