Tiers for obscure games

I considering making a thread for it in Other Games, but figured it might be better to wait until NFBA or something has netplay for it. Easier to get people hyped if the game can be played online.

I thought six ~10 minutes videos was going a little overboard and nobody would watch them, but if people enjoyed them then I guess we have no choice but to make more

Hey EmblemLord, do you (or anyone else for that matter) have any good info on Hyper Dimension besides that tier list? The game seems pretty good but it’s hard to find decent info.

I watched them all, very entertaining videos. Glad I don’t have to play the game now, I know way more about fists of fire than I ever wanted to.:looney:

Friend sorry I didnt read this before! Actually Vertigo has no tools to escape rushdowns. Standing 1 or 3 have good poking priority BUT lead to nothing but a poke. After that you’re going back to stuck in block taking damage. Blizzard for example can escape after 3 hits (following the ā€œcounterā€ after 3 blocked hit rule) with a c.1 into standing 1+2 or depending on the character c.3+4 into Ice Geyser > followup. Vertigo has none of those tools. Has no reliable antiairs and sucks for zonning thx to her very slow foot speed. Has some teleport trickery here and there but the low damage of her combos make is not worthy.

Chip damage on block even from normals on this game is something that I can say that should NOT be in there (it adss too much pressure) but the fact that there is no death from chip damage is a welcome adition and that is where the turtles get their reward hehe. Nothing more tortouos than figh a urtling Chaos that is on the brink of his death and you rush him and rush him and rush him but in every chance you left out an opening he get a c.1 and its 35% off your life.

PR is not shitty, just the characters were too goofy/different of the stabilished ninja/shotos of the time. Its the unknow father of much fighting game mechanics used nowadays (mini jumps, jumo cancels, universal overheads, damage counter, damage scaling, etc)

For High level DBZ info check out http://z11.invisionfree.com/DB_Competitive

I know there is a bit of Hyper Dimension info there.

Ok, so I got around to messing with Ultimate Ninja 2. I gotta say…I hate the battle system. Defensive options are really good in this game and you can’t actually combo into any jutsus. Substitution jutsu is really easy to do. You could just mash both block buttons and get it 90% of the time easily without any real effort or timing. There are guard break attacks and grabs to circumvent blocking but Guard breaks do little damage and you can actually Substitute right after you get thrown so you take no damage!!!
So fucking silly. Anyway, you can do some cool shit in this game. There are shuriken cancels, button locks, back dash cancels and probably more shit that I’m missing. The cancels are just canceling your combo with that action. Good for mix-ups and to stay safe when trying to stage an offense.

Button locks are cool. It’s basically doing a certain combo then throwing shurikens at the end. If the combo hits then your opponent will not be able to use any of their buttons. So essentially you get a free Ougi ( Super) in this situation.

Most of the button locks are from the upward attack combos. So those are OOO ^O[], X dash ^OO[], and ^OO[]. Some characters can do an air grab or ground grab then [] for a button lock. And others don’t have any button locks at all.

This shit is all well and good, but honestly…it doesn’t matter. Defense is just so good in this game that all this cool shit means little. The one thing that matters is having a spammable Jutsu that does decent chip damage, comes out fast, has little recovery and allows you to quickly take control of the match. Chakra regenerates FAST in this game so you don’t need to watch your Chakra levels that much and you don’t lose Chakra for attempting Ougis unless it actually hits. So certain characters can just sort of fish for Ougis if they have really good Ougi starters. Characters enter a special mode when they hit with a certain Ougi. Like Naruto enters Demon Fox mode for example when you do his level 3 Ougi.

Also counter attacks are really good in this game. They cost no Chakra unless they activate and since offense comes down to poking to try to get someone to come out of their shell it’s very easy to bait someone into eating a counter attack.

The game is fun…but really really silly.

In competitive UN2, 5 characters were banned and its pretty obvious why when you think about the criteria for a really good character. Namely having a jutsu that’s just really fucking good and really fucking spammable.

Here’s the tier list.

God Tier and Banned - Itachi, Gai, Taijutsu Naruto, Kankuro, Ino
Top Tier - Shizune, Nine Tailed Naruto, ANBU Kakashi, Kisame, Kabuto, Temari
High Tier - Byakugan Hinata, Neji, Naruto, Shikimaru, Zabuza, Garra, Haku, Tenten, Kiba
Mid Tier - Sasuke, Kakashi, Orochimaru, Sealed Orochimaru, Sakura, Choji, 3rd Hokage, Hinata, Lee, Jiraiya, Shino
Low Tier - Tsunade

Itachi - His normals are all fast and safe. He uses shadow clones in many of his combos which is why he is so safe. has some of the best jutsus in the game. Shadow clone: Smash sends a clone to the opponent that explodes and does really good good damage and good chip damage. The clone locks onto where the opponent is, even on a different plane. Shadow clone: Haze is a counter move and I already explained why they are so good. For his level 3 Ougi starter he sends out a shadow clone so he isn’t at risk when he attempts this. Basically he is just retarded. Really fast running speed too. Pretty sure his other Ougi starters are safe too. And his special mode is Tsukiyomi which slows time time for the opponent. He is stupid.

Gai - Fast and safe. Not as dumb as Itachi, but he has one of the best Jutsus in the game. Dynamic Entry. It has insane speed and priority. Gai flies across the screen with a flying side kick and completely lays waste to his opponents face. If it’s blocked Gai will phase through his opponent doing chip damage and he will be completely safe. If he hits a wall he will bounced off of it and be safe. His special mode is the eight gates which gives him a huge power boost and speed boost. His level 3 Ougi starter is super safe.

Taijutsu Naruto - Fusion of Gai’s Jutsu and Lee’s normals with Naruto’s body pretty much. He has the Dynamic Entry as well although his is called the Ultimate Entry. He has no Ougis, instead he just enters Ultimate mode for his Ougi and gets a power boost.

Kankuro - Super safe normals with great range since he uses a puppet. Has a counter attack for one jutsu and his other Jutsu has him shoot a poison bomb at his opponent. You can charge it up to shoot a whole bunch of poison bombs. So basically, you shoot the bombs and let them do the work for you and then you just run away. And Kankuro is still a beast in a fight thanks to his puppet and his range.

Ino - As a character she is average. But one of her Jutsus is a poison dart attack. So she can do that then just run and turtle.

Shizune - I don’t know why she wasn’t banned. She has a poison cloud attack and her pig jutsu has alot of range to it. She can also enter ultimate mode as her ougi. She is pretty quick and her normals are good. Maybe because no one ever took the time to mess with her. She also can throw 3 shurikens which is great for pressure and Shuriken wars.

Nine Tailed Naruto - The only character in the game that can combo into his jutsu. Auto Top Tier just because of that. He is fast on the ground. His Super Pressure summons a giant Toad in front of him doing good chip on block and stunning them if they don’t get hit but aren’t blocking.

ANBU Kakashi - Young Fang can hit from anywhere, but it’s not super fast so there is time to get away from the attack. Young Lightning can be charged up and released whenever. Covers almost the entire screen of one plane. When charged it’s unblockable. Good on your opponents wake-up.

Kisame - Water shark is fast and travels the whole plane until it reaches the opponent. He uses a sword so his normals are safe and he has good range. All his Ougi starters have him lunge in with his sword giving them alot of range. His special mode is Shark. His sword devours the Chakra of his opponent. Similar to the Byakugan mode that the Hyuuga line has.

Kabuto - This guy is silly. He can put opponents to sleep with a jutsu then combo them for free for a few seconds then use his other jutsu for more damage and it inflicts speed down on his opponent which slows their running speed down. Then he can turtle/runaway. His Ougi has him enter Ultimate mode.

Temari - Wind Wall is good chip. Wind Scythe has good range. Her normals have good range as well since she uses a fan/wind for them.

Byakugan Hinata - She has rotation which is a good defensive jutsu. She also can enter ultimate mode as her Ougi but since she use the Byakugan she gets a speed boost and every hit from her reduces her opponents chakra even when blocked.

Neji - Rotation is good and if his level 2 Ougi hits then he enters Byakugan mode.

Naruto - Demon Wind Bomb. Will beat normal Shurikens and it does good chip. It travels straight towards his opponent as well. His special mode is Fox mode which gives him a huge boost in speed and power.

Shikimaru - Has a counter. Throws three shurikens instead of one so he’s good in shuriken wars and it’s good for pressure.

Zabuza - Water Dragon is good since it travels full screen. He has a sword and his level 1 Ougi starter has him throw it out which is really good.

Garra - Uses sand so his normals have good range and so does his grab. His Jutsus aren’t all that safe but have pretty good range so they are ok to throw out every once in awhile. His Ougi starters have decent range to them and are disjointed.

Haku - Throws four shurikens. Has a counter. Fast on the ground. Good normals.

Tenten - A simple straight forward character. One jutsu has her throw several shurikens. Her other has her create Ninja items that you can grab and use. That’s very very useful especially if you get a poison bomb or an exploding star. She can throw 4 shurikens on her own.

Kiba - Good normals. Fast on the ground. Dynamic Marking is good for longer range. Goes quite far and does chip. Food pills is one of the better special modes. It increases strength, speed and regenerates chakra.

Sasuke - No good Jutsus. Fast and very safe though. Has curse mark as one of his special modes though.

Kakashi - Same boat as Sasuke, without Curse Mark mode of course.

Orochimaru - Good normals and good grab range. But his jutsus aren’t anything special. Fast on the ground

Sealed Orochimaru - Better grab range and slightly different normals but still good. Jutsus still aren’t amazing though. Still fast on the ground. Can activate ultimate mode as his Ougi which gives him a slight leg up on his normal form.

Sakura - Nothing too crazy here. Decent speed and normals. Her jutsus are average.

Choji - Both his jutsus are similar and do decent chip. Human Boulder is less safe though and sometimes leaves Choji Dizzy when blocked. Needle Boulder is slightly safer since he bounces back after it’s done and does better chip but has less range. He is very slow on the ground. His expansion mode increases his size and strength.

3rd Hokage - Uses a staff so his normals and range are good. Jutsus are subpar though. Mud wall has no range and Flame breath is easy to avoid.

Hinata - Inferior to Neji and her other form offensively. She can use medicine to restore a bit of health though and there is chance she will gain stat boosts in various areas as well.

Lee - Very fast and has solid normals. Poor Jutsus hold him back. Eight gates is his special mode which is a plus.

Jiraiya - He has Ninja Art Summoning which is the same as Nine Tailed Narutos Super Pressure. His normals are ok but not spectacular.

Shino - Use insects so his range gets a boost. Insect pillar does very good blockpush back and good chip.

Tsunade - Terrible. Only character in the game imo who has truly terrible normals. She throws herself at her opponents with reckless abandon. Her Jutsus are terrible. Super heel drop while doing decent chip is just slow and unsafe. The damage from Gambling shot isn’t even guaranteed if it hits. It’s just random chance. the only truly bad character in the game imo. Here special mode is regeneration. Boosts her strength and also regenerates her life.

This game is pretty fun but some characters are just ridiculous especially compared to mid tier.

I’m thinking of tiering Yu Yu Hakusho Final or Power Rangers Tournament Edition next.

Mmmmm not shitty but REALLY obscure and dont remember if was posted yet:

Dual Blades GBA tir list (thx to white shadow for this):

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=4175349&postcount=47

I know I’m a few years late to this party. But I have to say much respect to anyone who was actually patient enough with the digital vomit that is Survival Arts to come up with a tier list. That’s fucking amazing to me.

This thread wins.

Well, you’re far more versed in PR than I am, I just thought she was a zoning character with teleport for runaway.

Great stuff. Thanks

Yeah…that list isn’t exactly right.

lol. Well obviously not every list I make isn’t gonna be super accurate. I’m only one man after all. If you see something you don’t like then say why and post a better list.

I know NYC heads play these games, so of course you guys would know. :wgrin:

Also, I’m pretty confident in my top tier and most of my high tier placements. It’s mid tier that I just kinda took my best guess.

was ken even in sf1? i thought you could only play as ryu

He was a pallette swap for versus mode.

Hey EmblemLord what ever happened to our Psychic Force thread and those scans of the mag u had?

I did a searh and someone did ask but it never got answered. Tiers for Dragon Ball Z Ultimate battle 22? I just remember playing it a long time ago using Cell and actually trying to do combos.

Lilman: The thread is in my subscribed threads and I’m pretty sure it still exists although I haven’t glanced at it. Never finished the write ups. I’ll finish it someday. ROFL. I have no idea how to put up magazine scans or even how to do them.

>_>

Nocturnal: Ultimate Battle 22 has combos. That game would be hard to tier though. No training mode means it’s harder to test shit.

It’s not a fighting game, and it’s definitely not shitty. But it sure makes a shitty fighting game.

(I know, old post.)

I’d like to see something for YYH: Final. Though I didn’t think the game was that bad, outside of Youko Kurama having a 100% combo…(though I think he needs to be at full power to do so).

I skimmed the thread already, so sorry if this has already been brought up, but I’m curious as to what the tier listing for MK vs DCU might be.

There was actually a thread made for that in this sub-forum.
