Thursday Night Fights @ Versis (Portland Area, All Fighters, Every Thursday)

Good meeting you, Gray Fox! A good time was had by all tonight, Soul Calibur was a nice change and I felt pretty okay with SF4 today. Fuck a 3S, I just wanna play Q and he’s so bad and I’m so bad and together it’s blegh.

Angel, I hope my mini-tutorial on meaties was helpful, if you’re interested in more ask a question in one of the threads in the Ryu forum and see if what they have to say on the character-specific front.

Slash with the rebirth as a Rufus player! We’re gonna iron out your kinks man, no worries. Will get at you on aim and such.

Nick and Sam, I enjoyed the chat I had with y’all and will be looking into PAGDIG when I get up later.

Cheers everyone

Awesome meeting both shuma amd grayfox. SC4 was some mad fun, i just wish Tira was mute…or JPN voices are on ><.

And yes, apparently i will be messing around with rufus now and put sagat on the backburner till i learn not to fucking mash (FML)

anyways, im like going to go to bed so ill add/post more tomorrow Peace out yall!

Wow. Work got weird, looks like I won’t be making it next week. Lame.

Yeah, good games ya’ll.
I was pretty inconsistent tonight, played poorly sometimes, ok the others. Eh. Things to work on. Just need to practice more, put in some real training room time. Annoying when I have to use someone else’s stick, even if it’s a TE. Need to repair my SE.

Cool place you have there Nick; it was nice meeting you and talking about games and whatnot.

I’m a bit fuzzy on who was who last night, but I’m sure I’ll get a better grasp on real life identities - SRK user names soon enough.

I bailed out a bit early because I have a pregnant girlfriend at home. She was getting mighty cranky with those hormones and whatnot. Otherwise, I would have stayed longer. Next week I’ll show up a bit earlier and stay a bit later.

It was nice to actually use a quality stick for my first time. I’m somewhat of a fighting game newb, and have neglected on buying a TE stick thus far. I think I started to adjust to using the TE stick fairly easily, but I’ve still got plenty of work to do. In particular, 236 motions were kinda hit or miss for me throughout some of the night.

I’m a bit sad that I sold my copy of SFIV as well; now that I found a place where I can play some live competition. Doh! Maybe I’ll pick it up again…guess it all depends on if Super SFIV is a stand alone disc or some type of DLC. Seems like it will be a disc though.

I think some of you saw my Hakumen while I was playing Blazblue. He’s my main, and I look forward to getting ass raped by you folks that main NU. The matchup between Haku and NU is pretty ridiculous…but I’ll still give it my best effort! Hopefully, some more people join in on some Blazblue action next week as well as it’s my current game of choice.

Anyway, see you next week…and again, it was great meeting everybody.

thinking about bringing a copy of tekken tag and the almighty 4 player adaptor. ANYBODY INTERESTED?

That sounds incredible. I forgot the game even had that mode.

Make sure you bring a ps2 as well. I’ll get in on this.

First of all thank you panda for bringing me along, my commute is very shitty without you.

To the people who have I have met before but have not seen in a long time (AJ, Sam, and Mac) it was good to see you again.

Jetay I have seen you around before but I haven’t had the chance to actually introduce myself, so it was cool to finally meet you. Thank you (and everyone else) for helping my friend learn some of the basics of fighting games. I’m really hoping he gets pumped about this and maybe picks up the game or comes back next week.

I think BBH was there but I didnt actually get a chance to meet him? Oh well maybe next time.

My poor friend had sort of an unfortunate but hopefully positive experiences. He had heard I was going to versis at school and was like “oh dude I’ll go”. I didn’t realize til he actually got there that he didn’t really know what fight night was. He assumed fighting games were anything that involved combat (like halo/cod4/etc). So at first I think he was like totally miserable getting pounded in sf4 since he had never played a fighting game seriously.

By the end of the night though, things started to click and he really started to figure things out. I think if so many people hadn’t helped him and been friendly he never would have found an interest. Hopefully he will be returning next week.

EDIT: http://www.rtv-veg.com/products/veglite/ <—if you had one of these at versis a monitor can be used in place of someone bringing a CRT and 3s can be played without lag. Not sure if you’re interested but it’s better than hoping someone will bring a tv.

Tekken tag is the best thing on the face of the planet.

Until you fight against Ogres/changs/mishimas (minus kazuya)

All of you are going to burn in hell

Won’t be there next week either! Slash, you want to run a round robin or something next week in my stead?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steed ??

boo for pasqual not showing up =(

Whoops. I meant ‘stead’.

Yeah I was there. I was tucked away in the TTT corner for a while and wasn’t playing much SF4 when I first arrived, I probably saw you and didn’t know who you were ;o

hell yeaaaaaaaaaaa

Want to give everyone a heads up on a promotion we are doing with the Fight Nights for awhile:

Bring a guest who has never been to a Fight Night before in at full price and get your admission to Fight Night free.

This promotion begins at the next Fight Night and should be running for awhile.

The coupon offer is still available for those who really need it, but it does not work in combination with this offer.

I highly recommend bringing in some Tekken players when BR comes out for consoles

-Chanchai

When T6:BR comes out, if no one hears from me, I’m fine, I’m just hiding in my room playing tons of Asuka.

Hopefully in a couple weeks I’ll get to reveal my project that I’ve been working on…I just need to order the PCB’s.

Also, next thursday, Since Pasqual is busy earning money at this job thing, we could initiate the beginning of [strike]Tekken Tag Tournament[/strike] SF4 Ranbats.

But heres the question. Round Robin or Double Elim…ALLEZ DISCUSSION!

Can I claim my friend I brought last time for the next one? He’d never been to fight night (or even the scene/played fighting games seriously) before and I’m kinda broke ;-;

Round robin sounds cool but it will prolly take to long. Either way is fine we just need to start already!!! The anticipation is too much.
