So as Jetay posted for me… Versis is closed for business…
I couldn’t comment on it ahead of time because we weren’t completely sure how things would pan out until the decision was made on Monday night to pull the plug.
Those that attended last week’s fight night knew that this was a likely possibility because we received an eviction notice from our landlord then. Somehow the two sides had difficulty working together and so they decided to proceed with eviction…
It was awesome times and awesome memories though, and while one chapter of my career is coming to a close in the coming weeks, I’ve already been prepared for the next chapter and my fighting game career is still on track (if anything, I’ll be much more available for various get-togethers like I was before life at Versis).
Thank you guys for making my era at Versis an even more amazing one than it was. I certainly hope it was something great for you guys too

P.S. As always, I’m glad the scene has had more venues lately for various parts of it. I hope to help find even more solutions soon that maybe we can work on.
Hmm…perhaps a temporary name change for the thread should be “Thursday Night Portland Fights” or something cause I’m still down to come up there thursdays and kick it. Especially with T6 out. Need massive practice for my low-tiered ass. And the T6 netcode is HORRIBLE.
Slash we should get some T6 practice in some time. I’m about as newbie as you can get at that game and any tips/practice would help

Jetay, I think I’ll try to make it out to your place on Thursday if that’s ok. Trying to play T6 online is like trying to play in mud and with half a second lag in every move.

Bummer man. Hopefully we’ll still be able to find some places to get together. Anyone down for something on friday nights? That works much better with my schedule. Getting up at 4:45am every week day is a bitch.
damn thats a shame man… definitely had some good times and learned alot from various cool players. gotta thank nick for making fight nights happen in the first place, it was a good run and i hope you had as much fun as i(and everyone im sure) did.
while this is a bit of a set back to available places to play we cant let this slow the scene down, kudos to Jetay for opening up his place im definitely down to come over and play, i even started to learn a bit of Tekken now that 6 is out.
Im thinking about picking up where Versus left off. But there are some issues at hand i need to deal with first.
Thursdays come mid november wont work for me cause i have a basketball league starting soon that runs on thursdays.
Friday and Saturday will always be a coin flip cause i usually work these days. i could let you guys know as soon as i know my schedule. but it would be the best i could do. but i usually know my schedule well ahead of time.

What a fucking shame. I never made it to versis or anything but I still am sad about it. Hopefully you guys can work something else out. 
I could bring a ps3 set up for SF4 as long as you have a tv with composite connections (red green blue). I’ve got a TE stick with octo gate as well as a SE with sanwa Joystick and buttons with square gate. Let me know.
Hey guys, just got home from ANOTHER long day of the closing process (my day began at 8:30am, it just ended at 11:30pm). The store is completely cleared out now, but much more to be done.
Side Note: Major thanks to Nick from Video Game Wizards (on Foster) for helping us with the move out and… I still can’t believe you got the electric Versis sign down!
Also, I will update everyone on liquidation details as they arrive (I’m not handling them, but it’s in good hands.
back to the community…
We have a great community and there are quite a few opportunities and places to meet up. We will find ways to stay together, quite a few of us have been doing it for years. My hope is that everyone who went to the Fight Nights keep it up, and I know you guys will.
I will keep making efforts for the community–but I know the community is already keeping things alive. We’re in it together, even when the tiny politics pop up.
It’s likely I will hear about another game center pop up, I’ve even been approached a few times with proposals from various people and there are forces trying to pull me back in. While I am most likely moving on professionally, I will certainly keep my ears on the tracks and I’ll let you guys know if I hear a rumble.
But ultimately, the community isn’t the store or the place, it’s us–and all of the messages you guys post make that obvious

I am really sorry to hear of Versis closing, and I am doubly sorry that I had not been in attendance all that often the last few weeks. 
I’d sorta lost my hype lately for SF4, and I wasn’t all that interested in heading out there every week. Goes to show you don’t appreciate what you have until it’s gone…
Anyway I’ll be at Jetay’s tomorrow for some Tekken but I won’t be there until after 10.

Damn. Versis was cool as hell and played host to some great times, mainly due to Nick’s personality and handling of things, and the rest due to the other people in attendance. I will miss the opportunity to visit that place and get some good fights in.
Since I just found out about this I will try make some changes for this Saturday and open it up to more people. Everyone is welcome to come play, I know it’s going to be rough with nowhere to go so I will do my best to host a decent game arena for our local players. See my post labeled Weeklies Downtown PDX for updated info.
For those who I may never see again, thank you for any games we may have played and lessons you may have shared with me and hopefully we will fight again someday.
