Throwdown Tuesdays and X-Factor Fridays

I’m really excited for the Beatdowns this Saturday!

Went to X-Factor Friday tonight, could only stay until 11pm but it was still pretty chill and fun. Will come down whenever I can. Good stuff!

We’ve been having a lot of awesome VF practice at Best Bout, especially last week!

Here’s my report from last week’s Throwdown Tuesday:

I heard X-Factor Friday was really good overall, including the VF. Due to work, I couldn’t make it, but I really wish I was there!

And here’s my weekly Northwest VF Review which includes my perspective on Best Bout Beatdown 13:

Thanks Chanchai, and congrats on your victory at Beatdown 13! Throwdown Tuesday is in the house again, Portland is on a roll so come join our ever increasing group, get some games in, school for Evo, or just kick it and have fun! Doors open at 7pm!

BestBout, get a pull up bar so I can body this kid kevin in a pull up contest.

I’m glad there was a broom available for all the dropped combos from last night/this morning

I thought the broom was there to clean up all the broken chairs

Chairs have been bodied. We lost 5 souls at Beatdown 13 and last Tuesday. Who’s next? My money’s on the sideways leaning grey chair. Watch out for Jetay Barber btw, Chair Slayer.

Yup, it’s X-Factor Friday again. Evo is right on us, only two more days to school at Best Bout. We will be training hard tonight, and encourage everyone to make it out and get that practice in. Lots of sets, runbacks, first to’s, downloads and lab time. Come on out, our group has been going really strong. Let’s keep that momentum going! Doors open at 7

don’t buy chairs from walmart

Good stuff to Simon, Jetay, SamY and Ethan for kicking my butt up and down Virtua Fighter Alley and Street Fighter Way. Definitely gave me some stuff to work on before heading to Vegas. Hope a lot of people are able to show up next Tuesday, especially anyone looking to play some Virtua Fighter. I know I’ll be there looking to get one last offline session before everyone gets super busy again.

This is it folks, the last day at Best Bout to school for Evo, the largest fighting game tournament in the world. Come on down and support the scene, get some games in and level up. We have had a great season, let’s keep that going. Doors open at 7pm, come down for the final pre-Evo school session!

Thanks everyone for making last night another one of our record breaking weeklies! Insanely packed house, felt like an old school arcade in there : )

Also to clarify, we will be open Friday at 7pm as usual, as there are a lot of people (most people) not going to Evo this year. Come get more games in, check out the Evo stream, and have fun in general! Thanks again Portland Fighting Game Community, let’s keep the momentum going!

Finals Steam Party and BBQ at Best Bout tomorrow. Doors should be open by 1pm!

That’s right gang, we will be open as usual for Throwdown Tuesday! It’s a post Evo group rally, get some games in, chat about how we want our local scene to go, plan for the future! Should be fun : ) Doors open at 7pm!

So I’m curious, is there a decent scene for SCV or KOF on either Tuesday or Friday? TBH I’m still a rank frickin’ newbie, but I figure I gotta get punched in the face a lot before I can learn anything. :V

I might still come down once just to see what’s up, but it’d be nice if I could get some play on my games of choice.

There is a decent KOF scene. At least 3-4 people who play the game are there every tuesday. SCV is pretty much non-existent

Andi’s working the SCV and he’s going there as often as he can. If I’m down there (though I’m going to have my hands full for quite awhile) I’m always down for some SCV and so is Jetay and R_Panda.

That said, the KOF definitely happens every Tuesday at Best Bout and the two guys you want to look to on a regular basis is Kwyjibo and LordBBH. Joel too when he’s there and some other people play KOF as well. KOF is actually my favorite 2d fighter, but I’m pretty awful at it lol.

That said, most people know Virtua Fighter is my main game and I’m competitive with it. I do enjoy SCV but at the moment I’m playing without too much detailed knowledge, just general stuff.

One of the Mid-Willamette players, Brennen from Albany is very good at Soul Calibur V.

Throwdown Tuesday tonight at Best Bout! Doors open at 7pm

BBH has informed me that there is a form that you fill out, so Evo Competitors can get all the SFxT dlc for free. I have no idea where this form is located though. Anyone have a link to it?
