Whenever I lose to a player that I find a “weaker player” (quick matches) I’ll mash the X button so I get a shot at a rematch, which seems to have a good 50% success rate, so I can fix my errors and win the second time around. Think about mistakes and strats to win during the 10 seconds of connecting and then do it right in the rematch. If you win the rematch, it means you’ve learned something.
Now when it comes to losing to a laggy scrub… I think that’s justifiable rage.
ugh…I just had one of those sessions. It’s one of those days where I can just only blame myself. I’m not the best player in the world, but I can tell when I’m playing someone that I should be able to beat no problem. I can tell by the failed/messed up moves and general strats that don’t make sense.
It just one of those days when I’m just not “feeling” it. My execution is jacked, no reversals are coming out, I’m trying to reversal when I should just play it safe, muscle memory isn’t working, I feel like I’m thinking too much, etc., etc. It’s sooooo frustrating losing to someone when I know any other day and would lay smackdown on them. :annoy::annoy::annoy::annoy:
Usually when I lose I’m fine since most of the time I know what I did wrong or I go for high risk high reward. I have gotten mad for giving wins away… my opponent --> Dizzy with health so low that it takes 2-3 jabs and done. I’d let them out of the stun, get hit, and pressured til I make a mistake and get killed. I learned to just take stuff when you have the opportunity the first time. xD Besides that, there’s no reason to get mad even if you know you can beat the person. Actually, most of the time, people lose to inexperienced/bad players because they try to mind game a person who doesn’t think. So they end up messing themselves up… If that makes any sense.
Back to the thread topic, I do believe I can tell when I’ve lost to an inferior player, or to put it a better way, a player I would beat 7 out of 10 times.
I don’t think that’s arrogance, as I can also tell when I beat a player who probably would beat me 7 out of 10 times. A perfect example recently is when I took a tough akuma player 4-1, but could easily have lost 0-5.
Anyway when I lose I try to analyze why it happened. Was I being sloppy? Did he bring some new wrinkle to the table and my matchup knowledge wasn’t good? was it just a string of unlikely and bad luck? Was I just starting my playing session and my hands were cold?
It’s not about making excuses, it’s just about pinpointing what the problem was and addressing it if necessary.
Personally I think if you are going to play online you should be aware of the risks. I don’t like it when you get the classic “you only won cause it was laggy bitch” and if I had a mic I would say “Well yeah it was laggy for me too asshole…your point?” :arazz:
Now that I got that off my chest…hmm if for some reason I lose to a player below my level, I think that would be cause his strategy throws me off… when I am expecting a Ryu to zone me with Hadoukens and fancy shit, he starts to Tatsukick all over the place like a douche…like unexpected, but by the second round or second fight I adapt and procced to beat his ass.
It is different when I lose to a skilled player or someone around my level, I don’t know how to explain it but you know when they are good after exchangin a few blows. To tell you the truth I don’t really study their skills, I unconsciously adapt to their gameplay, then again I think everybody does that without realizing it.
Even when I’m taking a match seriously and I lose to some bullshit lag tactics or whatever I never get mad i dunno I just don’t see the need or point in working myself up over something so trivial especially when I know I should have won.
However I do take an issue with people who make excuses for losing (yes some srk’ers are guilty of this you know who you are.)
If I lose I simply tell myself not to fuckup next time .
Oh yeah and let me just say the whole “lag affects both players” is a bullshit excuse to justify winning with lag tactics that would otherwise be impossible to do offline.
