I use a credit card so this situation never happens to me. The dude was just doing their job and I understand. I donāt think those guys have much leeway when it comes to their jobs cause donāt they have to balance all the tills at the end of teh day?
One time my friend was back in town and he unfortunately went clubbing with another old friend of mine. So I figured whatever Iāll join them to say hi. Well, they didnāt take credit card for cover (UGH), and I was one dollar short. I asked nicely, begged, pleaded, but the korean bitch was being a bitch. dumb bitch didnāt realize I wouldāve paid at least thirty times that in drinks for my buddies. That makes less sense to me cause bitch would have had the authority to be flexible but she wasnāt.
Itās taco bell man, Iām pretty sure heās the only one (co-workers & managers included) giving a fuck about his drawer being short a penny.
I used to do that all the time, and I would end up short at the register. My manager would give me flak for it; said I was always short in the drawer.

Being nice to randoms isnāt worth losing your job over. I work at Hollister. If someone told me they were a penny short I would tell them they could come back and buy whatever they wanted to buy when they found that penny. Canāt be that hard to find a penny in the mall. Go to the fountain people throw change in.

Iām guessing that the kid who works in a food court that sells tacos for 89 cents probably doesnāt have the authority to make exceptions on the prices. You were basically asking him to risk getting himself into trouble over a till shortage just because you werenāt prepared to pay what you owed. For all you knew, his drawer was short already and he needed every penny just to keep it acceptable.

I help run my familyās deli during the week. Around 3pm the kids come down from the high school / middle school and very often they donāt have the correct change or theyāre short. Sometimes we let it slide and sometimes we donāt.
The thing is that itās OUR store. The cashier in this story is just an employee, itās not his money to do what he wishes with.
So again, the only one being a dick here was the OP.
