To be fair, DSP made Top 8 at EVO (in a really bad version of ST) and hosted a major (East Coast Throwdown) at a loss to his own pocket (he even lost his job because of it), which is much more than the vast majority of 09’ers (even pre-09’ers) will ever do in the FGC.
Also to be fair, he’s also always been a total fucking asshat.
And yes, he was actually decent in the ST~~MvC1 era (the scene was much more centralized in the biggest metro areas of NY, Chicago, and in Cali, and DSP was one of the few East Coast players that had the ability to travel). That doesn’t change the fact that he’s horrible at all of these post-09 games.
Also, I’m pretty sure DSP thinks he’s intentionally playing up a character a la James Rolfe on his channel to be a Youtube attention whore, but the problem is that he was always a whiny douchebag to begin with.
So you end up with a situation where a guy who doesn’t realize he’s already a whiny douchebag tries to act like what he thinks a whiny douchebag would act like, and thus end up with an exponential douchebag factor that makes even 5 minutes of listening to his videos equivalent to 50 years of purgatory.
I’ve always loved this argument…guess I can never be critical of another movie (despite how terrible it looks) because I never aspired to be a director.

I’m just trying to inform people of his background, since a lot of newer players have no exposure to DSP outside of Youtube, and thus assume he must be some random guy that started posting videos of himself playing SF4 online badly about 5 years ago.
He actually used to be somebody on SRK and in the FGC. This is not something we should be proud of.
I liked his last of us multiplayer vids. They were terrible but damn fun to watch.
