This is how you DON'T play Street Fighter (aka LOL DSP)

“general” sections always do this in any message board ever though. It’s to be expected.

Expected? Yes, of course. I just think these forums would be a lot more beneficial to the scene as a whole if even a small fraction of members who only post on GD put more effort into talking about topics relative to fighting games, as opposed to random shit.

Goddamn it Phil, I didn’t think it was possible to fuck up Jak and Daxter so badly. I know this is cliched to say, but I’m being completely honest here, my friend’s 8 year old son beat Jak and Daxter with no help in just a few days.

The only time I can remember lava not being instant death or almost fatal is a very early build of Sly Cooper. I was watching a video, and the guy was in a platforming section in a volcano. The guy fell in and just kinda walked around in the lava, said they hadn’t programmed it yet. Really weird to watch since in every other game ever made lava kills you.

Some of the Ratchet and Clanks allow you a few fuck ups also. You go into a “burn your ass” animation at which point you can direct him while he’s flying through the air to safety, miss on that and you die. This is only in certain areas too and most of the lava type planets you die instantly if you fall in.

Bonus: At about 8:30 in that GTA Vice City video, phil inadvertently makes the X-Men Arcade (6-player co-op brawler version) Colossus yell. You know, the “gwoooaahhh!!” one!

Edit: Also, I suspect phil has never been on a bike of any kind. Not even a bicycle. For all the faults one finds in GTA games/engines, I have to admit the motorcycle physics at least kind of make sense; he’s getting after the game for something it is mostly (not wholly, but more or less) doing right! Many of the angles he landed at and fell off the motorcycle are ones that would usually have the same effect in real life. I… know this from firsthand experience missing a left turn on a bicycle as a child. Hit a curb at those angles and you go flying, true story.

 at 8:07 mark, complete manchild mode initiated.

I think Phil’s problem is thus:

He doesn’t like video games. And if you don’t like something you don’t care about it and don’t want to try to be good at it.

In regards to fighters the problem there is that he’s an egomaniac who refuses to acknowledge when he’s wrong.

So, I don’t think the guy is mentally retarded but just an extremely conceded dude who plays video games for the YT money. Worse yet, is that he’s trying to play games that would get him the most views rather then games that suit what he’s into. He’s trying to play the YT lottery and pick titles that have high searches and hoping that he’ll get views that way. The problem is that he doesn’t care about the game and has a shitty attitude about it so the people searching for that title will watch one video and think “This guy is a retarded man child!” and not watch any more.

I wonder, if he played the Clash of the Clouds DLC for Bioshock Infinite. I can imagine that he of course messes up those Blue Ribbon challenges, like not to loot the enemies in a wave or etc.

His Steam fan group has around 1300 members, but there are members, who don´t like him much.

How can he be so bad at this piss-easy game?

Curiosity got the better of me, vid title convinced me to watch.

Oh boy! More lowlights!

In snowboarding game (SSX Tricky, I believe?): I like how the game’s trick system is so permissive that even phil almost manages to look cool. Almost. Then he throws it away. Then falls off a cliff, and loses trick status by smashing into mountainsides (then wonders why he lost the trick). Also, it’s funny that he gets after the player character for being “fat and slow.” While dsp is not as bad as some people I know on this front, the only characters he has room to mock on those grounds are those of basically Rufus/Bob/etc. physique. He is a fantastic daily reminder to stick to my new exercise routine!

Final thought on this. At one point he protests, “I don’t want to keep rewinding!” Then stop failing.

Responding to Louiscipher: You’re probably right. There’s nothing there to suggest any of several mental handicap labels apply to him. His range of expression and activities suggest he’s pretty normal, so all his sexism, racism, power-tripping ‘community management’, belching at the audience without even so much as an apology or editing it out before posting the vid… it’s all on dsp, he has no excuse. This is probably just as well though; can you imagine what he’d be like if he was aware of a mental diagnosis he could claim to justify himself? However, the rest of your conclusion brings up one very good question: How did he get into video games if he doesn’t like them? Being a “Youtube celebrity” wasn’t always a thing. Games existed before being a Youtube gaming broadcaster did. Did he just show up once it did become a possible career, or was he into video games before then and if so, how/why?

Bioshock 3 vid: It’s titled “final part, screw it”, as you say. phil, shooting grenades into something you’re right next to usually DOES hurt. This is what most of us file under ‘really damn obvious.’ Only watched part of this because I didn’t want to ruin any surprises this segment of the game might have, but… he just sold me on Bioshock Infinite and this DLC pack. I’m going to buy them when I get the chance. This segment reminds me of Doom, Serious Sam, and other “lots of enemies, you have to run and gun them” FPS titles, and I want that (even if the rest of the game is, reportedly, not in that style; that’s fine by me)! Thanks for showing me something I’ll enjoy far more than you will, dsp.

An idea: We should see if someone can trick him into playing “Papers, Please”. The eye for detail that game requires would probably drive him into mouth-foaming rage! Edit: Hell, even better. Surgeon Simulator!

You know whats also fucking sad as reading the youtube commints, these fuckers are actling DSP is one of the best SF player ever. And they have no idea who is mike watts, jason cole, or John Choi is. And they act like jason cole was jealous of DSP, its like please every year DSP go’s to evo he might place like 8 top, but hes not even close to the same level as mike watts at ST on arcade

Arguing with his dickriders is just an exercise of screaming at a wall. You just cannot get through to them. I was trying to explain in his 3S videos why you should not use Hugo’s SA2 or Urien’s SA1 or why Dud’s SRK is not a good AA and his fans will not listen. I had a guy tell me that Hugo’s SA2 is the best because Hugo has a way to get out of the corner, it AA’s, and he has 2 bars for EX…

I also think more top players should post vids on youtube, cause most noobs do not understand high level play. Image if mike watts, jason cole, or John Choi had their own youtube channel. Jwong, Yipes, Chris G and some others should make youtube channels to show what high level play is really like, instead of watching a 31 year old fat ass blaming lag for his losses with his 17 year old gf.

Yipes has a YouTube and he occasionally posts videos, but nothing like a match breakdown. As far as I know the only top-ish player that does so is Sabin.

Fun note, “GI Joe the video game” exists multiple times over despite his claim to the contrary. I know of at least three. Two on the NES and one for arcade.

Edit: Just saw the list of games he was putting up for gimmick vote. Okami? I would sure as hell hope not. Not unless he’s running the mod/patch that causes Amaterasu to eventually lose patience with someone as horrible a person as he is and just pops out of the screen to chew on his ankle in real life.
