Thank god, the gay talk is gone. Anyway, just completed a run through of DMC3. Dante better be as weponized and stylish as he is in 3.
I was thinking of letting this game pass seeing as I’ve never been able to get into the MvCs, but now that my 3rd favourite EVER game character has been included (right behind Snake and Rayman) I’m getting this day one.
I’d quite like to see a use of different styles (much like Gen) in which he uses a different combination of guns and swords. Not too many, maximum of 3.
They could be: Ebony and Ivory/ Rebellion, Beowulf or Ifrit/ Shotgun and… not sure.
What do you guys think?
Oh yeah, and also a super like Makoto’s in which he enters Devil form and powers up (bearing in mind I have next to no experience in MvC, so excuse me if that wouldn’t work)
I’d think Swordmaster can easily return return as a high-risk/high-reward rushdown type of style with Rebellion/Agni & Rudra while Royal Guard suits a much more defensive/punishing approach with perhaps Beowulf. Trickster suits a runaway style, giving Dante his Air Trick and Air Dash and Gunslinger can make Dante the ideal zoner/keepout character with E&I and Nevan. Just speculating but that’s what I thought might suit his staple styles best in terms of playstyle.
A timed Devil Trigger mode was confirmed.
glad they used dmc3 dante. personality and weapon/moveset/style wise thsi was the best choice
also iunno how people calling him gay. hes a fucking badass
dmc3 vergil is pretty badass too
devil trigger, using the guitar, n ebony ad ivory JACK POT!!!
The real question is, how many different projectiles can they put on one character? Obviously, he won’t have them all, but there’s SO many to choose from, and I’d hate to see ANY of them get the shaft, but it’s inevitable.
He’s got…
ALL of his guns
Round Trip (Force Edge)
Meteor (Ifrit and Beowulf)
Air Raid (Alostar and Nevan)
Drive (Rebellion)
Sword Pierce (Rebellion)
Crystal (Cerberus)
Crawler (A&R)
Various Nevan attacks
Sparda default shot
There’s just so many to choose from. Which do you think will make the cut? I think E&I is a no-brainer.
Seeing as he’ll probably have at least one attack for each weapon, I think the other projectile will be Crystal from Cerberus. It’s slow, so it’s not your regular, run-of-the-mill zoning projectile, but if can be given some kind of special property, like a freeze property similar to Jin’s in Blazblue, or a launching effect with the Million Carats followup if the enemy is close to you when you do it.
For Agni and Rudra, I think Cross Slash would be a good move to give him, as a sort of combo ender or a keep-out move, and Twister, with maybe a super install Tempest.
You think Dante’s moves will change when devil triggered? Or will it just be a stronger variation of moves?
BTW, I’m actually garbage at MvC2, so I’m mostly talking outta my ass and have no idea what would make a good moveset, and what wouldn’t. I just really like DMC =P
Most likely DT will increase power and speed, maybe open up combo opportunities (and if there’s a God immunity from hit-stun). Like Chris Redfield and his various weapons, I suppose Dante won’t ‘equip’ weapons so much as pull them out as special attacks. Each special could be a different weapon. I’m starting to think his four styles won’t have a bearing on his fighting style for sake of MvC3’s gameplay mechanics. Dante certainly *could *play closer to his series style, but a system like Blazblue or Guilty Gear is better suited for a character to play so radically compared to other characters in the roster.
But people don’t want MvC3 playing like games within it’s own series.
I hope he talks trash through the whole match.
Ya know what’d be really weird? If since the different assist types are coming back, depending on which you pick he could either be: Swordplay, Gunslinger, or Royal Guard. I left Trickster out, because I feel these trick are necessary for all forms simply to keep his style in tact.
Well at least Gameinformer told us he enters that uh…“mode”, I’m guessing with hyper.
I don’t know too much about the DmC series. xD
Devil Trigger is essentially an ascension akin to super-sayijin or bankai. In the games your speed and power increases and some moves change slightly. You can call it “badass+”.
Yea i really see Devil Trigger mode being like custom combos from the Alpha Series with a mix of the Demon lvl3 Soki had in TvC
If Capcom keep their traditional color change instead of alt costumes, here’s hoping for Sparda (purple coat) and Virgil/Nero (blue coat) color sets.
Since they’re using DMC 3 Dante I wonder if Capcom is using Kazuma Kaneko’s Devil Trigger design. It would be a great deal of fan service to me if they did.
It seems pretty obvious that the devil trigger mode itself may function like a Geneijin-esque super.
I’d like that design but I have a strong feeling they’ll go the DMC4 route and have a dark red aura around him (with possible voice distortion). It would save memory instead of making another model.
Then again this is a stinkin DVD storage device, larger than the Wii storage, pack on the fanservice.
That would be the lamest thing ever. I never played DMC4 I didn’t even knew they did that. Wow. They can afford to do better than that.
One badass super would be the final shot Dante delivered to Mundus at the end of DMC1 where he combined Ebony and Ivory. God damn that was cool.
Or I guess one of his supers could utilise some sort of pool table… damn that’d be even better.
I have a feeling Devil Trigger would improve his “Exchange” moves. Maybe being able to link one down slam to a high…slam…or something, then continue.
Clarification: DMC4 Dante did have a demon model, I forgot when you go DT during combos you see the aura but the model shifts afterward. Still, the DMC3 model was better. Nero had no demon model, just an aura (that’s what confused me, I guess).
Can’t wait for a Devil’s Never Cry remix.
Nero’s wasn’t really an aura, it was the demon of the katana kind of strapped onto his back. It would do attacks along with Nero, so basically you would get two hits for the price of one.
