Someone has been touched by the Based God.
I’m buying a case of Dos Equis for Tuesday, I seem to have uncontrollable urges for them while watching UMvC3…
Is he someone who could do something about it with out it resulting in dishing out some cash?
Do the developers read SRK forums?
People bitched about this HUD the second they saw it and from what I can tell is virtually unchanged from when it was initially revealed. For further evidence about how much Capcom values peoples opinions it’s worth noting that people have been bitching about the shitty button config found in SFIV and MvC3 since vanilla SFIV and look where that’s gotten us.
They’re probably not going to change it because it’ll look more crazy and “wild” to casual gamers. That being said, I hate it too.
*EVERYONE *that doesn’t like the new HUD go post here:
http://www.capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom/go/thread/view/7371/28682219/Capcom_is_it_possible_to_make_a_DLC_HUD_for_UMvC3_or_a_option_to_use_the_old_HUD
The new HUD really does look terrible, but like a few people already said it’s just something we’ll get used to.
I’ll play a few games, call the wrong assist, get blown up, rage a bit about a shitty HUD, and repeat about five times. Then I’ll get used to it.
I really think all that needs to be changed is make the assist characters’ health bars look more visible and change the color scheme of the hyper bars. Otherwise, I see no other problems.
Oh snap, I just realized why A1 is on the bottom and A2 is on the top.
The order of the assists in the HUD matches the order of the characters during the pre-fight dialogue when everyone is lined up and about to fight. I’m stupid for never noticing that.
I guess Capcom figured having the assists in the HUD match the order your teammates stand in together made the most sense from a general continuity standpoint. I still hate it though.
The HUD is ridiculous! I thought maybe you just have to get used to it but I can’t tell you how many times I kept callin the wrong assist today. you can see the lifebars ok but man it’s gonna take A LOT of playing to have it seem normal.
New HUD looks like it’ll make us focus too much on the HUD and the team composition rather than the match itself. That’s not good.
Now, all they’ve gotta do is use the new graphic, and put it in the old order. There, done. I don’t see how that messes with RAM or whatever other excuse they could throw out.
Call me optimistic and delusional, but this sounds like something easy enough to fix quickly with enough demand, and I don’t even think it’d cost them any money to do so. Only thing I could hear them saying is, “No, we’re not planning to change it.” Which means that changing it would make Capcom look foolish for sticking with it throughout the entire dev process.
Will we get used to it over time? Yes. But being passive like that sends a message that we’ll accept anything they throw at us, as youth upstart-ish as that sounds.
OLD hud please
Sounds like you need to learn to do the simple task of managing information.
I can remember when I’ve killed a dude and I’m pretty sure you can too unless you have some sort of condition that makes it difficult for you to do so (in which case I apologize).

Get used to it. Get used to it like you do for all the other things that change between games.
In 2 weeks you’ll probably realize how silly that is and change them back.
If you seriously have a hard time distinguishing teal from green you probably need to fix your TV’s color settings.
I hope people become vocal like SFXT supporters were about the gem system.
Uhhhh they didn’t address it pre-release like we were lead to believe, chances are they’ll do shit after release too.
And then you have the handfull of Hardcore guys who are like “Hey if you just divert attention from the action and focus your eyes on the HUD and meter, you can see everything fine” when the point is that’s why it makes it pretty poor in design because you have to focus away from the game.
So it was a lie when everyone was screaming about how Capcom “listened” as were changing the HUD around the Ultimate announcement?
Lies on top of lies. Pointless ones too.
They color of the assists bars was even worse, so they changed that to what you can see now.
I agree. The order listed for you characters is Terribad. It takes some getting used to.
Easy-to-patch fix:
Replace A1 and A2 text with icon representing the button that needs to be pressed. if the game can handle swapping assists in training mode the UI can handle this.
The character select screen in vanilla is superior.
I have zero problem noticing health and meter. I got used to it fairly quickly.
That really wouldn’t fix anything. For arcade stick users, “A1” and “A2” are the button names, so if anything, changing it would make it even more confusing.
