This game is too hard to get into

Well, you probably shouldn’t immediately jump into Online.

Don’t give up its people like this the reason why Fighting games are not played much half of the people that play Shooters and switch to Fighters are going to take years to master.Fighting games is something that takes awhile to understand years really. One your understand the Generic buttons on any fighting game all of them are going to be the same.I never played MVC2 but i learned MVC3 from youtube videos note i used to play SF4 which was one of the major fighting games i got in to around the time when it was first released. But still just keep practicing.Learn Combos the most important thing when you get better you’ll start learning Mix Up,Cross Ups and Resets.

this Everyone resetting there records, they hit there limit and get tired of getting beat up and go back to be the asshole they ran away from…im terrible at this game, just got my first 50th win achievment out of like 350 matchs… i only play it becuase im a x23 deadpool and spiderman fan …every month i throw it in for a day to get beat up then throw it back on the shelf

Hell no.

That’s the quickest way for him to get blown up.

Beginner rooms are where the high-level trolls lurk.

Oh shit I didn’t know that. How can that even be fun for the trolls?

Easy wins to pad their records.

Emil said something about people who are highly ranked having one gimmick and that’s it. I think high ranked people having one gimmick has more to do with the format of online than those people. Online is one match against a kinda random opponent you might not see again. With only one match against one person the game should be all about gimmicks. All you need to do is one really dirty thing and you can win. You don’t have to worry about getting figured out because there’s only one game.

As far as the game being easy/hard to get into it depends on your level of fighting game experience. I’ve been playing pretty regularly since the release of Vanilla and I’m still terrible but I never seriously played a fighting game before MvC3. If you’re new and you’re not gonna put any time into the game don’t even bother playing online because you will be manhandled. You will have Monster637’s experience of popping the game disc in every once in a while and getting destroyed.

If they want to enjoy the game past banging on buttons with superheroes a new person should put enough time into the game to do all the stuff CeeDizzy mentioned:

Step 2 is really key. You need to learn to convert off of throws, air throws, assist hits, anti-airs and any other type of hit you can get. You should learn X-factor combos and happy birthday combos. See the character subforums to figure out what is possible for your characters.

A big factor in enjoying the online is to stop and think after each match you play. Think about what you did well and what you could have done better. If you drop a combo, miss a hitconfirm, or flub a mixup immediately go into training mode and practice it a bit before you play another match.

No, I said there are a lot of people that are highly ranked and have one gimmick. There are a few people that aren’t frauds but most of them I’ve encountered, definitely are. I tend to fight a lot of the same people multiple times because it keeps matching me up with them, and you can tell most of them either have one gimmick or are running some flow chart and never really attempting to play the player. Regardless of whether you make it extremely clear from the beginning of the match that you are aware of their gimmick and can block/punish it, they just run the same setups again and again.

Huh ok. I probably should’ve quoted you. Given that this is Marvel, running the same setup over and over generally will eventually hit someone. You can’t block forever.

The point I was trying to get at was that the way online ranked is set up sort of rewards/allows people to play the way you describe while getting wins.

Clearly you’re not pressing enough buttons…

Your problem lies in the fact that you play online, and that you are a new player. Don’t grind, it’ll only leave you coming out salty. Spend most of your session (if not all of it) in the training room. TRAINING is what’s going to make you a million times better, not getting frustrated over losing to people who have been religiously playing this shit since Vanilla.

Also, I would change that team to “Nova/Magneto/Sentinel”, if I were you. Just mess around with that combination and see what it does for you.

I find this game really hectic, and it sucks when you are in blockstun the majority of the game, and get TOD’d often.

I get to practice my hit confirms.

Most of the replies in this thread are WAYYYY too much for a beginner to grasp. People take way too much of their experience for granted, and they especially forget that they learned this game when vanilla came out and everyone was also a beginner.

IMO, the two things you want to focus on are:

*Simple combos that you don’t mess up
*How to move around with your characters.

If you feel that you’re doing well, look into something better that you can learn without overwhelming yourself. Don’t rush yourself. And just remember to have fun - it’s easy to get mad at this game, but there’s no need to.

The hardest challenge for new players getting into this game is that going in at the deep end is really tough. Its really a game where you need to train with low level players first imo just to get your bearings. You need to play with players that dont kill you in one hit so you can actually learn whats going on.

I recently started playing online again, but with a new team (Jill/Chris/Shuma). I normally run (Cap/Ironman/Dorm). Not bad but not great- applies to my skill level and my teams. The biggest turn off for new players are the assholes online that talk shit when they win. Whether they spam or use top tier characters well, almost everyone I have come across over the last 7 days has sent me rude and insulting messages for getting blown up. I don’t mind losing to top tier teams or all-round better players, but don’t be dicks about it.

Umvc3 online is a cesspool of racism/ignorance/incompetence. Seriously it is insane how many petulant douche bags I run into on a daily basis, as if winning a couple player matches meant ANYTHING at all.

People are dicks. Just move along.

None of those around, do if we want to actually test things on a moving target your character is dead.

Trueeee I suck at madden cause I don’t play it lol
