Upon seeing the chatter during the last Capcom stream, I doubt that they were there to actually watch the stream.
Is this question even worth answering:nono:
Worst game ever?! I would rather play SFxT over games like Shaq-Fu, 3D Mortal Kombat games, 3D Samurai Showdown game on PS1, bad ports of UMK3 (*Shudders at the SEGA Megadrive/Genesis port). There are loads of fighting games I never played, but they definitely look like ASS (Ballz 3D, Clayfighter, Time Killers, Rise of the Robots, etc)
For the topic starter:
Do you play in locals? The strange problem with SFxT is that many tournaments are dropping the game, but it’s still has a strong online community (Might be stronger than KOF13, unfortunately). I still enjoy this game, but most of the people at the local casuals don’t care about it anymore. If you don’t mind playing online, then get it. The annoying AutoBlock gems have been patched, so the online is now much more tolerable.
Revalations isn’t dropping it…
Capcom’s own massive tournaments aren’t dropping it…
There will be plenty of chance to compete in this game throughout the year.
The game is FAR from dead online. Like other posters in this and numerous other threads have said, push for the game at local tournaments. Capcom is putting time and effort into the game so it’s not going anywhere, regardless what the naysayers say.
it doesn’t have an arcade release, that has to mean something
I know. It’s impossible for a fighting game to be popular without an arcade release. Just look at MvC3.
Well, those are big tournaments.
Unfortunately, I live in Estonia and many good local players don’t want to bother with the game. There was a tournament in Finland and they added the game only AFTER MULTIPLE REQUESTS from people and they still didn’t stream it. The game wasn’t in the program originally.
Players in Russia (For some reason, GUILTY GEAR is still serious business there!) still play the game, but I have to get a visa to travel there. Used to live in Dublin and the Irish tournaments seem to have dropped the game and I don’t think there’s a big scene in Latvia and Lithuania. Don’t know about Sweden, but bitterharmony.se doesn’t have any new announcements lately.
Basically, I’m screwed with my location.
Yes, it does mean something.
It means it’s like MvC3, SC5, Skullgirls, and Mortal Kombat.
I thought I wasn’t gonna like this game coz of the gems thing, but that’s all in the past and now I love this game
The game is trash but it’s fun to play.
/shrug
Well I’ve played SC, UMVC3, Mortal Kombat 9, Skullgirls, SF4, and Tekken 6. I normally play a fighting game till a new one I’m interested in comes out. I must say sfxt is fun at times but it just has a lot of flaws. After 3000 games I have to say it’s honestly the worst fighting game out of the ones I’ve played. The fun and lame factor is split into two extremes on the love/hate spectrum and that’s not good. I must admit if you find fun players to play with the game is really enjoyable (check out jibbos stream most of the players there are really good and make the game fun). I would have never continued playing if I didn’t meet those type of players. If you dont plan on joining a community I’d just wait for TT2 to come out and get that.
Pros
- Wide variety of characters to pick from
- Deep combat system
- Gem system makes common match-ups seem different
- Combos feel like you can personalize them.
- Online community is healthy
- Your inputs rarely get dropped due to internet connection
- Many mechanics for people to discover
Cons
- Most of the street fighter are stronger than the tekken cast (unless you use a select 4 but they were imported to work like street fighters)
- Health regens way to fast causing timeouts
- Timer issues clock doesn’t stop/slow during supers or tags
- Jab pressure is too strong you can jab into an auto combo (ABCD launch)
- Level size is way to big
- Defensive play is rewarded promoting people to play “lame” and not take risks
- Purchased gems give people a huge advantage no matter the type (pay to win)
- No logical/enjoyable story mode to attract casuals (MK had an amazing story mode).
- Anything unlockable cost money, this is the only game that has over 100 DLC packages
- It’s fun to play but watching it in lobbies is really boring because the matches last too long
If you like the pros and can get over the con’s you might really enjoy this game. Remember it’s also the players you play with that make the experience fun. Oh and whatever you do dont download the DLC characters. I bought them and the download was instant, I’m not technical but I know 12 characters isnt 1/10 of a mb *rage (that’s the size of a paper I type for school). I got the mortal kombat characters and they were a few minute download >:[ really?!?
If having a competitive future is important to you, then no, the game probably isn’t worth learning. Something really major will have to happen really soon for SFxT to maintain a viable competitive community for years to come.
I’m sorry, but this always makes me laugh. I haven’t purchased a single gem and I made it to B rank. This just seems like a cry about people beating you with auto gems on.
As many have said. Don’t let the haters fool you. Most of them are frustrated street fighter players (those who cannot tolerate any other game) that came to the game because it has street fighter on the title, and were disgusted with abc combos and say the game is too easy. Or sometimes marvel players came to the game looking for craziness and did not find it, because the game is mid-between those 2 and it is generally, easier to play. Also, many were disgusted because of the dlc locked content. Something that I believe is foolish, because you cannot expect a game to be 52 characters from the very beginning. Now for some money on our end, we have a game with plenty of characters and customization options. In my personal experience the games is very enjoyable, even with gems. The latest DLC and balance patch are awesome. The amount of teams you can design and the removal of most of the bullsh*t being spammed everywhere is gone and overpowered gems were nerfed. I cannot get enough of this game right now. I love it. To me is vastly more enjoyable than street fighter 4 AE and a more interesting game to play than most of the games out there. The only games I like as much as sfxt are Umvc3 and Soul Calibur V. I really enjoy to be play solo or with a friend in tag team, and when we decide to play scramble mode 4 players for fun is amazing.
This. I really don’t see any advantage of paid gems over unpaid gems in this game at all. The DLC gems mostly give a bigger boost, but are harder to activate and last a shorter time period.
As long as people come out to tournaments and show support and keep playing and capcom keeps on improving the game through feedback, then SFxT is all good.

I believe tournaments will return because a lot of players are enjoying this game right now. We have to do our part.
Try it! At first I was hesistant about it but trust me this game gets a bad rep for no reason. Its worth it and a lot of fun.
