"This camera can record too?" Spider-Man UMVC3 Video Thread

No worries but it’s just like Jwong said if you drop a combo you may as well say goodbye to the match. This game punishes your mistakes harshly. If you have to adjust your combos so that the margin of error is low so be it or even do drills on end in the training room.

In my opinion, just make sure that #1 priority (even above spacing & movement) is to not drop combos especially with spidey because he has to work damn hard to get that first hit.

no no no no no no no no no no no no no no. Spacing and movement takes precedence over everything else in a fighting game. This is FG101. Who cares if you never drop the combo if you can’t hit it in the first place.

Also, telling someone not to drop combo’s is probably the worst advice you could give. Thank you very much, I will take that advice and not drop any combos next time I play.

I’m no spiderman expert, but from my experience, the only time spiderbite doesnt come out is if you cancelled it too late.

I recently had a money match to determine who had the best Arthur in the 805. But Spidey and Thor ended up doing most of the work for me :stuck_out_tongue:

first match starts at 17:10. Once he got 5 wins on me, I started using spiderman at 36:00

I dropped my new combo a couple of times: basically I found out you can follow up after an air series using mighty smash (anywhere on screen), but it was my first time using that tech outside the lab. I’ve gotten more practice with it since then. To do it, you just need to call thor, wait a second, then zip otg as low to the ground as possible, followed by Web Throw :m:. You can do :h: throw if you’re in the corner, which makes it more consistent. Or, as you saw in the video, you can reset into UWT.

Right so letting the character live after you get the hit is good advice? This is a game where one crouching light will end a character. Keep dropping combos, see how far you get in a tournament even if your spacing and movement is godlike.

He is not saying that people shouldn’t work on their execution, he is saying that it is pretty stupid advice to give. It’s not like people think that they are supposed to just drop combos unless told otherwise. Everyone knows that they need to work on their execution when they drop combos. Also, I think that you will get farther with godlike spacing and average execution than average spacing and godlike execution. Just what I think, correct me if I’m wrong. I haven’t actually been to a tournament yet.

In this game, it is assumed that combos aren’t supposed to be dropped which is why movement and spacing is the most vital part of one’s game. Next up would probably getting good at confirming hits and making those right decisions.

Proper spacing and movement allows you to get that crouching light to hit in the first place. OMGitzAndre may be a prime example of someone dropping combos yet is able to not only beat decent players, but also place relatively high in tournament. This can be attributed to the good mobility options all his characters have.

I’m not going to argue anymore but my opinion stands. First step is to work on never dropping your combos, next step is spacing and movement.

The guy in that video kept dropping his combos, he asked for criticism and I criticized him for it, that’s it. If he kept dropping combos like that in a tournament he would not get very far. That’s just what I’ve observed and that’s just my opinion.

You touch a character, they should die.

This is why new players never learn how to play the game properly.

Lol. Combos are not what I’m looking for. I can work on those in training mode however I like. However, spacing and movement are critical. After being blown up by a Captain America at my local arcade it was my movement that really killed me because I was getting blown up by shield confirms. Anyway, so I guess to clarify, I need advice on spacing and movement and creating hard to block situations.

Hey guys, just discovered a new way to web throw glitch.

Good shit AachiTeki. I just have a couple questions and concerns about that. Does that work on all size characters and can it be done midscreen? Also, is it more consistent than the other way of doing the wall bounce glitch? The small problem is that it seems like you can only do that in the beginning of the combo. One last question, can you do that crossup with the web zip OTG (at around 11 seconds) in the corner? That could definitely be useful for my bnb when I get a web throw into the corner.

Web throw glitch only works on mid/big size characters. This has the same set up I believe just like webthrow after spiderbite in corner, the cross up only works mid screen, but if have a little space you can actually get in the corner. 1:03 here’s a combo I think your talking about.

Yeah that’s basically what I’m talking about. At the end of my bnb I just do (after a web throw) OTG web zip j.:s:, land, s.:m: c.:h: xx :l: web zip, j.:m: j.:m: j.:s:, land, c.:h: xx :l: spider-sting~bite (crosses up), call vajra, c.:h: :s: xx TK :m: web throw into the corner. The problem with that is its a little harder to get the spider-sting to crossup when I am right up against the corner. Hopefully doing that OTG crossup will be a bit easier to do in that position. Good thing you showed it on Thor btw, because Thor is pretty large and large characters are generally harder to crossup on with the web zip, I think.

It’s easier on big character since the hurtbox are bigger.

Oh, well never mind then. I imagined that it would be harder because it’s harder to get the corner cross up when hidden missiles OTG them, and I just thought Thor’s big ass would get in the way and keep you on one side. But that is probably different because you are trying to whiff and go past them in that situation.

There’s other ways of crossing them up its just the timing when they fall, I’ve gotten cross up while just walking in the corner. Dashing, karasting, and if you don’t have that much hitstun you could go (after webthrow to the corner or in corner after webswing MMS or HS) s.H, zip j.M, j.S spidersting. Also a lanuch combo in corner webswing xx zip j.S spidersting that should work too. So there’s tons of ways crossing them up, just need to know how

I get it sometimes. always by accident. and im never ready to get another webthrow in cause im expectiing to do a crawler assault.

Yeah I know about most of the spider-sting related crossups, I was just really interested in that particular one because you followed up with s.:m: c.:h: xx :l: web swing after the web zip, which is part of my bnb. Thanks

@xero15 @Raoh here’s some fun stuff i’m working on atm with spider/mag/sent. i think once i’ve gotten my movement down with spidey i can think about adding more web throws and air web swings/zips for better/consistent damage and screen positioning
