Nice! I’m assuming you had throw break on for the computer, right?
…what
When you did the guard break, was the dummy set to tech the throw?
no i was just kicking myself for not doing that when i recorded
i tried it just now, they teched sometimes but it also worked other times and i don’t really know why
Damn, that video means a lot to me, because that’s my team, lol.
Good **** dude.
That XFC lvl 3 Web Throw loop is hard man.
Cool video, though. I was thinking using Frank’s assist instead of Hawkeye’s, but I feel Hawkeye’s is better because it’s full screen. Also, I don’t feel like worrying about leveling up Frank.
Brightside playing Spider. Looking really strong.
on the weekend i heard one of toronto’s top players talking about the players in the underdog tourney. he pretty much said that all of the new players had no setups and probably couldn’t beat any of the actual good players. made me kind of mad, even though i was guilty of it. but then the more i thought of it, that’s kind of how i feel about the attitude of this board. there’s too much concern over max damage combos, not enough about actually getting hits and the ways to get them
i am definitely guilty of using only 1 incoming setup. i went through the whole tourney that day using web throw + assist into either airdash j. :h:/j. :s: or spider sting. so i hit training mode and started recording all of my options, so i knew what they were, while coming up with some new ones on the spot. i skipped obvious stuff like if there was a crossup setup, there was obviously a fake crossup setup too. i also skipped j. :h:/ j. :s: that’s kind of obvious too.
another non-underdog tourney is next week, so i’ll be trying to come up with some new shiny things, if only for me. if it’s any good i’ll record that too.
i couldn’t even do it until yesterday, true story
first i wanted to come up with an xfactor combo to convert off of maximum spider punishes. then i wondered if i could do the xf3 infinite off of maximum spider. and then i recorded it
his voice clip during web throw and the whooshing sound effect it makes gives you an easy sound cue if you have trouble with the timing, it should sound like this when you do it:
“Web Throw! (whoosh, whoosh) See you la-Web Throw! (whoosh, whoosh) See you la-Web Throw! (whoosh, whoosh) See you later!”
Setups are pretty much based on your team composition so it will be quite difficult to have a clear cut discussion about it. There are some basic ideas such as s:m: or even c:m: nice hitbox which can be used on incoming opponents without air dash or double jumps. Pick your spot by a dash under or simply walking then catch them while buffering s:h: then web throw to confirm a combo or sting to be safe. For air dashers or jumpers, you can use your current setup to keep them to the ground allowing you to create high/low mixups or use a ground zip to j:h: buffered to j:s: to swing for a combo. For those who like to press buttons while coming in, web throw them, although I commonly use j:h: zip j:s: to c:m: s:h: web throw. I’m pretty sure there are lots more to mention. You must also take note that XF can probably mess some things up if you don’t have an assist backing you.
You can apply heavy pressure on your opponents with Spidey, and if you play just right, you won’t have problems opening them up.
no real problems here with keeping the pressure on or opening people up, web zip cancels have made it pretty brain dead
it’s just when i see wesker get a j.:l: into his jump loop, or skrull do an ambiguous s.:h: on incoming into a character kill, i think to myself
“i want to make spider-man do that”
incoming mixups are a pretty big part of the game and i don’t want to half-ass it anymore
I need to start practicing my dorm again.
Skrull’s s:h: is like Spidey’s s:m: which I pointed out, though not as brain dead, as you would say, since you have to buffer moves to confirm the hit. Spider-Man has the tools for mixing up incoming chars but his take a bit more work to pull off compared to Wesker. I think what you’re looking for is mainly messed up by his j:s: since it drops his opponents quickly to the ground. Spidey players just have to tinker around a bit to find ways to deal with it or take advantage of it.
Finally people actually using spider sting besides Evil Rahsaan.
Don’t. I’d rather have Spidey doing all the work lol.
But I wanna see some tough matchups like Zero/Vergil/Dante or someone running Strider assist =(.
Good shit, Spidey has never looked stronger.
Yeah, real good use. I’ll definetly implement that in my game more. I just need to find a good combo for happy birthdays after it.
There are lots of Spideys as of late and they’re all rather impressive and winning.
OffT: Where are you in Bris and what team are you running?
skrull’s s:h: on incoming i’d compare more to cr.:h: kara stings because they both
1: are pretty ambiguous
2: stuff things
3: bounce for easy confirms
skrull s:h: is what made me think of trying kara stings on incoming at least
also to rephrase, i don’t mean “i wish my character did these things”, i mean “i’m going to make my character do these things”
Sent you a PM.
Lol, you and me both, sir. I noticed that you haven’t been extending Spidey’s combos with Dormammu’s assist though. You can actually extend Spidey’s combos with Dark Hole after a Spider Sting~:h: or Web Throw by using the “swing-zip” tech and then connecting a :l: or Web Throw after, or if you think you can handle the tighter window, jump back :df: Web Zip j.:h: or j.:s: land :l: or Web Throw. It ends up tacking on about 100-110k extra after a Web Throw I believe.
Also, if you don’t think doing purification after Stalking Flare will kill your opponent, you can always do a Mass Change as soon as you regain control, then FAD j.:h: xx :l: Dark Hole. That tacks on a fair amount of damage as well.
Btw, I finally see how you’re spacing those Dark Holes. That is some sick ish, sir!
Edit: The Spider Sting~:h: -> Dark Hole assist Swing Zip will still work even after you’ve already used your ground bounce. ;O
Amazing stuff u guys really thankfull :).
I ended up here since i noticed spiderman is so good.
I got a question.
When i start my combo with c.l c.m c.h into medium webswing into medium, heavy special then after that i am pressing light medium heavy web throw medium to swing him to the other side after that i cant seem to follow up nicely. Web glide hits but the hits after wont connect very well. I tried glide + medium pops out, glide+ light whiffs, glide+ heavy doesnt work and glide + special sometimes works but im not sure how further progress my combo. Hope u guys can help me out
Thanks for reading
Cant wait for Xeros tutorial
