How do you get the second Hugo adverse??? /stupid noob question
Just letting you know you have Hugo listed twice
Jon, Makoto is good, just not better than Chun and Yun, or ken for that matter. My problem with her is that going against someone who can swing momentum quickly (Yun, Ken), she has major major problems. A lot of what makes makoto good is that she gets going, and she just keeps going and going until you die. Against Yun and Ken, I feel that they have instant, “stop bitch, it’s my turn now!” ability. Yun does this by activating SAIII, and then dive kicking you to death in the corner. Ken can c.strong into super, then proceed to crossup or whatever. I have a real hard time believing that there’s much she can do against that. Makoto has a real hard time taking away momentum, the only thing she can really do is parry -> karakusa. Which works, but is hardly something to rely on in a pinch.
On the whole elena thing.
She gets damage by poke poke poking. And you’re gonna have to poke like 90 times to win. Everyone, pokes, maybe not as well, but they can back it up with huge combos that make you actually fear the pokes.
The only thing I fear from Elena is throw into healing. That shit is straight up elite tactics!
Adverse, what is your reasoning for putting Makoto over Chun-Li and the others?
After seeing everyone’s tier list I’d have to say we pretty much agree to the same order … damn we play 3s too much. Well thank god this game exists… coughcoughMvC2CvS2 sucks like Seancoughcough
There are a few characters that’s jumping around different tiers tho, namely :
RYU
hmm… I used to use this guy, but it seems compared to the top tier guys he just doesnt cut it, he dies to Chun and Makoto and yet he can handle the others ok. He hits hard and stuns hard, but when I use him I feel very “limited” as I dont have too many options. Is he a defensive character?
What his best super? Ryu actually is one of the few characters in the game that can be used with all 3 supers… thats not bad.
I still dont think hes second tier.
ORO
Another enigma, standing roundhouse = too good, and abusive, doesnt really have a bad match up other than Chun Li except for Hugo (correct me if I am wrong) I use him in tournaments and I find him really powerful, especially useful if I have to face a tough Akuma. I would still rank him second if not top of 3rd tier. Why do some of u rank him so low? I use SAI or SAIII
NECRO
He has to work pretty hard to win, thats a given, but his keep away/poking game is really good, he can also do some damage if u manage to get inside, the reason why I put him low tier is because he still takes too much damage, and even tho he has long range his priority is pretty crappy, good mix up games tho with the overhead attacks, leg grab, and annoying drills. SAI or SAIII?
ELENA
"Beats, beats, beats in my head…"
I dont think shes that bad, I see her with a lot of potential, not a lot of ppl use her tho. She has a solid ground base, her moves are fast, pokes well, zones you, her overhead is fast and that karathrow is sick (the best in the game?). I think she thrives on keeping the pressure, mix pokes with dashin in or a mallet smash to set up a super or throw or uppercut. And her air game is above average too… hmm maybe its tru she’s low tier only cuz she just cant deal enough damage… shes kinda like a Necro in a sense. Shes top tier if u play at a very very low damage machine with SAIII , and when I say low, I mean i have played at a machine where some guy ate 2 shinshoryukens in one round and didnt die.
I have to agree with you on the most part. I rarely say any strats or my opinion on things, but here are my two cents.
chun-li,makoto and yun are defently top tier. watching the Japanese play them, I have seen some sick shit:D Izu of Japan won the 3s singles at N-cube using makoto:eek:
the only thing I dont agree with is that twelve is bottom tier. I have seen some very good twelves. (i dont play with him myself) he has good range with his hits and in flight mode is very annoying:p As far a Alex being in the 3rd tier,he should be in the 2nd tier. Sure he is slow, but his throwing range is huge! I don’t even play Alex and I beat up ppl in NY (casual on DC) using Alex just doing simple ass combos for him.
Omega Red:
Your tiers are way off. Have you even PLAYED the game? When I read the “Chun has no priority”, it was kinda funny…but mostly sad.
The general tier is Chun, Ken, Urien, Akuma, Yun, Makoto at the top, and whoever else at the bottom. One thing that is important to point out is that certain low tier characters are “bad” matchups for certain top-tier characters, so you can’t really judge a character only based on his tier, because tier is a majority thing (meaning Ken is top-tier because he beats MOST of the cast pretty easily, but not all).
Btw, I wrote a Ken strategy guide so for all those who wanna check it out, you can get it here:
Click on the link. It’s the first thing at the top.
well after the tourny seeing some really good third strike players doing moves I didn’t know were possible I definately agree Yun is top tier - higher than everyone. Urien I think is about equal with Makoto and Dudley as being under Yun. Chunli I’m not sure on anymore - you all say she has extreme priority so I’ll just take your word for it and say she’s equal to Makoto, Dudley, and Urien. After those I would say is a tie between Oro and Q and then everyone else is pretty equal.
After watching the Japanese play this week, I’d say:
Top
Yun
Chun Li
Ken
2nd
Makoto
Dudley
Urien
Yang
Oro
Akuma
3rd
Necro
Ryu
Alex
Ibuki
Remy
Q
Elena
Hugo
Twelve
Bottom
Sean
Interesting Billy you’ll have to share some of yer reasons for some of these when you return ;).
yeah. on a bad day, i feel that makoto is hopeless…
i still lose sleep over that match between j (my hero) and tokido… ;’(
seriously, looking at most makoto matches, i think they are either makoto savagely owning, or her getting savagely owned.
according to Izu of Japan, she owns:lol: Check out the SBO results of 3s. You will see he was in the 1st place team for it:)
Yun AND Yang own Dudley for free!!!
Why does everyone have The Black Man ranked 2nd Tier?!?
His ass is lowest tier, below Hugo and barely above Sean.
He doesn’t have mix-up game, is not tournament level and no one fears him anyway.
Black piece of shit!!!
I think the general concensus is that OmegaRed doesn’t know what he’s talking about
Just giving my thoughts on the tier stuff.
1st
Chun-Li
Ken
Yun
Makoto
2nd
Urien
Dudley
Yang
Ryu
Oro
Akuma
Alex
3rd
Necro
Hugo
Q
Twelve
Elena
Ibuki

I’ve tried to put them in order, but the exact order of the bottom two tiers is very arguable. I tried to put the better characters near the top and the worse characters near the bottom.
It sounds more like you’re racist. Dudley doesn’t have a mixup game? You have to be kidding. Don’t be stupid.
ryu 50% stun combo owns all
I dunno if it stuns, but the fanciest Ryu corner combo i know is this:
j. fierce, c. fierce xx Ex Hurricane, Shinku Hadoken, Ex Side Kick, fierce Shoryuken
I suppose if you wanted to stun them, you’d do the same thing up until the Ex Side Kick, then s. fierce reset xx short Hurricane, then low parry or something, and do s. fierce xx forward Side Kick. I don’t even think that would stun most people either…lol.
Or maybe you were just talking about Denjin…yeah, that would stun.
Would someone care to explain why allegidly Ryu and Oro are above Akuma? I hear Oro is a counter char to him but no one plays him here so we don’t have the match up and I always thought ( and still think now) Akuma was much better than Ryu despite stamina Akuma is a rushdown machine and not as parden the saying stiff as Ryu, Akuma to me is much more versatile.
Playing Ryu and Oro with Akuma is fucking scary man. They’re 2 of the best dizzy machines in the game.
Here’s some reasons why Ryu and Oro can potentially fuck up Akuma:
RYU:
-he stuns like a mother. Two short combos will stun Akuma…then he’s pretty much dead
-ShinSho MURDERS Akuma. Hell, every connected super murders Akuma
-Denjin tricks are a LOT nastier on Akuma since u don’t need all the hits to dizzy him. Setups like s. forward xx Shoryuken xx Denjin are a LOT scarier when ur playing as Akuma because he has no stun bar!
-Ryu is a power hitter, Akuma takes damage worst in game…not good combination
ORO:
-Oro’s s. rh stuns like a bitch…4 or so and Akuma is dizzy
-Oro’s dash goes under air fireballs with ease, and they also go under his hurricane kick. Basically, runaway games don’t really work against Oro
I pretty much know those things you said for Ryu as we fight him alot but those are some interesting notes for Oro there shame no one plays him here.
Regardless anyway I was thinking hard and I think the tiers are primarlily based on match ups and Akuma does have alot of bad match ups more so than Ryu and Oro so thats come to my conclusion why some people rank Ryu and Oro over him as they have less bad match ups.
