Third Strike Junkies dot com!

Haha yeah I know about the forum thing. Because it shouldn’t be a money issue, if it is something is wrong, there’s great free forum software all over the place. But I do get not wanting to have a desolate wasteland of dying forums.

I’m downloading this on my phone because my power has been out and apparently will be out for almost a week. That’s how hardcore ec is. Jwangggg drove through the hurricane to go play casuals. True story.
Get like flare, nica, therapistin some combination and it’ll be golden I’m sure. Chris g, holddat, all those nyc guys.

hey guys, just submitted my first article to thirdstrikejunkies! i hope some people benefit from the article! :woot:

Nah, you’re right. Forums that barely get used at all are pretty silly looking. Generally you want like a few good active people who will really use’m before you install’m. Like at my site we have a small community, but it’s pretty active. About 20 guys who really visit the site nearly every day and post nearly every day. We’ve known each other for years though, so we barely talk about AC. It’s nearly all just off-topic stuff about other games or movies and shit. I’d say if you can’t confirm about 15+ people who would use the forum pretty often then it’s not really worth being a major priority. Nothing wrong with tacking it on later, but I just don’t see it being something you should worry about yet.

Tebbo just wants freedom. I think he wants you to found America. On the Internet, though. Werd.

Great podcast!

Finally, something to replace Gootecks’ old 3s Podcasts (btw, if you’re just getting started or if you’re an “okay” player, those have great info on them)

Where can I find those BTW?

Aw man, no idea. They used to be on iTunes and Gootecks’ website, but I went searching for them now, and I could not find them :frowning:

Great stuff mate, hope the next time you’ll somehow fix the audio because it wouldnt be bearable if not for Ryan
Also in my opinion the forum is a bad and unnecessary idea
Good luck guys

I’ve seen a couple of them on TheShend’s channel. I haven’t looked, but he probably has all of 'em.

I haven’t listened to the latest podcast yet but knowing it’s 2 hrs long and how good Ryan is, I’m excited to give it a listen.

My critcism of this site?

There is absolutely no reason at all for it to be so good

good shit Pherai

It’s kinda hard to see the dark text against the dark background.

Wow I’m kinda late on this didn’t know you guys had a blog and FB page (joined).

Needs more BTRX haha, jp. Keep up the good work; enjoying the podcast.

I wasn’t sure whether to comment the podcast here or in the podcast-thread, but since I haven’t commented on your site yet I figured here would be better. Just as a note… Your shoutouts in episode 2 nearly got me driving off the road (well, not really) It wasn’t unlikely to assume I listen to metal as 90% of the people I know listen to it. In addition to real Finnish metal bands we also have kindergarten bands that play heavy metal… for kids. All that said though… I never got into metal. Also! I’ll let you know when I meet a Finnish girl that likes 3S that isn’t my wife.

Great job having a site for these podcasts, I kind of hate skimming through a forum/thread every time I want to see if a new podcast is up. Even just for the moment I really liked the Training-article and Mattxchin’s attitude-article. Hope to see more from you guys.

One thing you guys should consider if you are going to make more podcasts with cool 3S scene people is get some better microphones plzzzz. A lot of the Ryan episode was super muffled and it was hard to concentrate on what you guys were saying.

Also it sounds like you put reverb or something on the microphones…sounds kinda weird IMO. Anyone else notice that?

all done in post processing. it gives the podcast that low-fi hardcore grungy feeling.

but really yeah maybe try some different settings next time or something, it turned out pretty scary sounding at times.

I’d rather just be able to clearly hear what people are saying. That’s kind of the point of having people get together to talk about something, not trying to make an aesthetic statement. Not trying to dis the podcast just think it sounds odd.

I have another comment in regards to Pherais comment about Ono in Episode 03. A quote from Ono was mentioned where he said if people wanted a more technical game than SF4 that they could move on to 3rd Strike. Having played 3S since 2006 now and having played SF4 since vanilla I actually have come to think SF4 is more technical, or at least more convoluted than 3S. There seem to be a lot more situational and character specific things that have to be learned in SF4 to be good at the game than 3rd Strike. There’s no question that 3rd Strike definitely has more strict input timing than SF4, but I think in SF4 its more execution intensive to deal good damage compared to 3S. Also in SF4 many characters will gain a substantial advantage by making use of their option selects while OS in 3S is more of a nice benefit but not absolutely necessary.

What do you guys think about this?

I agree with you. I think what Ono might have meant was if players have the drive and dedication they might move to 3S because 3S directly rewards that dedication. In 4 the skill levels are much more condensed than in 3S. I feel that’s more what he was getting at but I could be 100% wrong.

I was in a tournament with Eric Chin and it was cool to hear his talk with the other players giving them advice.

that was me.

lol.
