The P4 is seen as a regular controller by the PS4 so if you’re not doing a dual mod there shouldn’t be any need to invert. Atleast as far as I’ve played around with it.

Why are you using this shitty controller in the first place is what you should be asking yourself. I answered the question "will it need to be inverted if only using on ps4"
the answer is no
Your question then was “do they even need inverting” my answer is “i don’t know because 1. I have not/will not use this controller and 2. hawky, the person who brought us this controller, didn’t test himself”

Now ask yourself “why bother diving into modding controllers if you don’t have the tools to test them”

I haven’t dual modded it because I have no real use to since it works on the PS4, pc,and as a second controller (only because of the lack of the home button) on ps3. Currently I don’t have an XBone so I haven’t attempted to dual mod a controller for that.

@mamut5 I just did a dual mod with the TE2 and the Hori FC4 and it was a piece of cake to use the FC4 as a PS4 pad. I strongly recommend it if you are looking for this route.

What should one use to scrape off the pads on the HC4 board?

I just used a razor blade like the kind you buy at home depot that is in a utility knife. I just scraped gently.

i like to use scotch brite (green abrasive cleaning pad). or a very fine sandpaper. gets a very nice even finish.

So, I just decided I will be playing SFV on PS4 and not PC like I originally imagined. So time for a new stick and new project! Hori FC4 it is after reading this thread. Gummo, Vicko, and Dark, u guys are truly God-sent! I would have started by trying out a DS4, drove myself nuts, and then would have found this.

Thanks for piloting this mod, and saving us countless hours of headache.

@purbeast , Thank you for telling me this I am sure I want to pick one of these up, If I ever need to make dual mod. At the moment I dont need to do that.

@Vicko, What about talking nice to people who ask about some help!? Only thing was, that I was confused about all this inverting an stuff. I havent build a stick, or done a pad hack for maybe 2 years, but have done many pad hacks back when I was a custom stick builder myself! I am very pleased that we have all you good guys at Shoryuken, making great tutorial how to wire the controllers out there. I am no electric engineer so dont have the needed skills figuring every thing out myself. But I can solder, and I can solder a dual shock 4 too. As long as i know where to solder.

I can only do so much based on what information is given in this thread and the questions asked without actually doing it myself. My replies were relevant.

Do yourself a favor and use an FC4. Anything that needs inverting or diodes is a waste of time.

Yet another question (sorry)… if I want to dual mod (FC4 and a MadCatz 360 fightpad), which USB wires do I need to hook up to the DPDT switch? D+ and D-? Do I need any other junk besides the DPDT switch? Diodes or anything?

I was able to map out where the important buttons go on the p4 controller

You can see that all of the connectors are numbered 1-18 the contacts are the dark portions; using the circuit ribbon I was able to get this layout

Near the top of the pcb there are two contacts for share (SW12) and options (SW13)

this thing only works for 8 minutes, right? Why not just use a ps360+ and get more usability from it, or use an FC4 for actual PS4 support?

I have a question, I plan on putting the MKX pad in an old Madcatz TE1 stick; I don’t plan on dual modding, I just want PS4 support. I have a question about wiring up the pad as I am completely new to this. Is it possible to select a single ground and using that to wire all the buttons? And how do I go about wiring up the home button as the contact is different from all the others and it’s the one that is confusing to me at the moment.

Yes but why not dual mod?

Please put me on. I know a way around a soldering iron, but not really with this technical stuff. I’m just relatively good with soldering and following directions. What is this high/low stuff that is talked about in the OP for the HFC4? I already have a ps3/360 stick. Also have an xbone stick. I’d want to add ps4 functionality to it. I don’t need the pad to ever be in ps3 mode. What do I do? From reading, I have to make the pad be “held high”? No idea what that means.

EDIT : Also, IMP switches can’t be used for these? The sticks I have absolutely cannot be drilled into under any circumstances!

Don’t worry about the voltage on the switches. Since you’re not removing them, just put the pad in PS4 mode and glue it in place. Yes it can be used with imp as can all USB devices.

Hi Vicko, quick question… I am in the same scenario with a ps3/360 dual modded stick with impv2. If I were to add support for ps4, do I purchase one of those dpdt switches? and how should I wire it up for system switching? do I connect the switch to the imp or does it go somewhere else on the pcb? Thanks in advance.

If you already have an imp for a dual mod, you would need another imp or a DPDT switch.
Take data lines from usb out, solder to the middle of the dpdt switch. Solder the other 4 poles to where the data lines go on the imp and on the ps4 pad of your choice.

If using an imp, just take the USB out off your current imp, solder it to the new imp, and solder your data lines from the old imp and the ps4 pad to XD+/- and D E. Run a wire from whatever you want your switch button to be to F.

For the imp solution,

From the old imp’s usb jack area, take the 4 usb wires (D+/-, V, G) off and solder those onto the new imp

Solder the 2 usb data wires (D+/-) from the old imp’s usb jack area to the new imp’s D/E

Solder PS4’s usb data wires to the new imp’s XD+/-

Am I getting this right so far? How should I power the old imp? Since we just took the vcc wire out and ran it to the new imp vcc in step1 ?

Also I am using start+select as the guide button (Basic ssg setup under impv2), would this be able to autodetect among the three systems ps3/ps4/360 ?

You’re right. Just tap VCC and GND from any source. All PCBs must have power and ground.

Thanks again, I just got the imp v2 from godlike controls and began wiring.

I have a few more questions that I would like to get clarification for…

On the new imp, do I need to wire anything for slot ‘G/D’? If so, where should those sources come from?
For the trigger swap, since I will only be using the ps4 functionality on the fc4 pad for sf, do I simply leave the switch to the far right (me facing the front side of pad)? And that will enable “La = L1, Lb = L2” and I can leave Ra and Rb untouched ?
