No, wire to 1 and gnd
Just ended up snagging the TE2 Crossbone from focusattack.
Those of you who have done an X1/PS4 mod on the TE2, do you have pics of how you mounted the PS4 pad inside?

You can make the wires shorter of course
Oh cool so you ziptied it down to something on the board? I havenāt really looked inside of mine.
Is that big ribbon cable a part you ordered with the crossbone? That is kind of nice how you didnāt have to solder to the crossbone. But I guess you still had to splice the wires and solder them to the PS4 pcb anyways.
I made the ribbon but its part of an upgrade kit somewhere iām sure. Yes I had to splice the ribbon for the ps4 but recently I just soldered my wire into the 20p header to keep things clean.
Gotcha. Yeah I plan to just solder to the Crossbone as of now. Iām assuming you had to solder the connector thing to the Crossbone so you could plug that ribbon into it too.
I did see a bunch of ākitā stuff for the TE2 Crossbone, but it looks like most of that was for installing a PS360+ with the TE2 Crossbone. So I passed on that. Maybe down the line I will get the PS360+ and make this a 4 way joystick, but I really donāt play 360 or PS3 anymore so that also may never happen.
You can get the kit minus the ps360+ itself and chop off one end of the ribbon and solder whatever you want on it. Thatās basically what I did
So all that kit would do is just give you that harness + piece you have to solder to the Crossbone for a quick disconnect?
Yes plus a few more cables for switching and the USB lines
Gotcha. Yeah this should be a pretty simple job for me I think, although I may need to get some new tools. Been ages since Iāve used my soldering iron lol, and I think the tip is all jacked up. My solder is probably 6+ years old too, as well as my flux.
I implore you to practice soldering or get a reputable modder to do it for you if youāre not savvy. I just did a repair on a mod which had a shitload of melted plastic, wires with too much exposed wire, and a fried 4066 chip which wouldnāt let the device switch at all. I basically had to replace the crossbone. I wish i took pictures of the before and after, but I still have the bad crossbone for reference lol
Oh I know how to solder just fine. And I know how a badly tipped soldering iron can make everything nearly impossible lol.
Iāve been soldering since PSX days and installing modchips back then, so I have a good 20 years experience or so. Although, I never had steady enough hands to solder the PS2 chips that required soldering to legs of the onboard chips. That was too tough for me to do. I havenāt ran into anything needing precision such as that since PS2 days though.
Quick questionā¦
My TE2 Crossbone is going to arrive before my FC4 does.
If I install the TE2 Crossbone into the TE2, and the TE2 is working as normal (without the FC4 installed), then Iām assuming that means that I did the installation of the TE2 Crossbone properly and it should be ready for the FC4 to be installed, correct?
yes but you would have to undo some soldering because the area is really tight to work in like that
be patient and do it all at once
Ah okay. So you recommend soldering the PS4 pad to the Crossbone before installing the Crossbone in the TE2?
I havenāt really looked inside the TE2 so I assumed it would be easy to get to in order to solder once installed, but you know better than I do.
yes, and yes i do
Cool thanks for the info, guess I will be waiting until the FC4 ships from amazon next week then!
So @Vicko what did you actually ziptie that controller down to on the other side on the TE2?
I opened mine last night and the bottom is just a smooth surface with nothing that it looks like I could zip tie anything too.
Turns out Iāll have my FC4 today and possibly the Crossbone today, but most likely the Crossbone will come tomorrow, so I should hopefully be able to do this project over the weekend and have my stick ready for the next round of SFV beta.
Ziptie anchor
LOL ā¦ herpderp on my part, yeah that makes sense. I think I have a few of those somewhere with all my modding crap.
Amazon got the pads in stock yesterday and I should receive it today, and Crossbone by tomorrow, so looks like I might be able to get this done over the weekend.
Question about the diagrams - the FC4 has LA, LB, RA, RB, then R1, and R2 on it. But I donāt see any L1 and L2 buttons on there. Are the R1/R2 stuff if I only want to do the PS3 buttons wired up? Iām asuming the Select button is also that way. I only care about PS4 so I just want to be sure I donāt go to the wrong buttons.
And if I use the back (which Iām planning I think, Iāll have to eyeball it to see which side looks easier to me though), do I just pull the glue off of where the L/R trigger pads connect? Iāve never used hot glue on mods before, but it seems that it is safe to put glue over the joints and everyone is doing it lol.
Also, what does the ā1 is high, 1 is lowā mean on all of these diagrams?
EDIT:
Just looking at the FRONT diagram again, I see it maps what LA, LB, and RA, RB actually map to on the controllers, so I guess scratch that. But what are the other R1 and R2 buttons on the rear? Just alternative spots for those buttons?
