I was talking about Cyke’s AA. But when i have cyke at point, Sin would also hold up/back. So tk optic blast totally whiffs low. When it does, there’s more than enough lag for him to notice, fly forward, then combo me for over half my life.
Nowadays, I’ve gotten more confident in my strider. So against team scrub variations, i’m usually more willing to start strider vs. Sent if the sentinel player is better than me. Strider/Cyke/Doom can still dismantle Sentinel, fly back or not. It’s just a matter of not allowing him to bait your assist into whiffing. Just be prepared to follow up each time you call cyclops, whether he hits or not
Well I am pretty new to the whole marvel scene but right now I want to learn Mags Strider Doom. Mags makes good point cause he does tons of damage and you don’t really need to super and he builds meter relatively fast. Sometimes I will use shockwave dhc orbs just for some mixup not to great but hey whatever
I don’t think mag would be good at all, probibly only for fun. I’m not sayi9ng don’t use him, but he doesn’t benifit the team so great. He needs an assist and he himself has to rush the opponent which wouldn’t help Strider.
Well I see what you mean but a really good Mags doesn’t need an assist or can use either aaa doom or variety strider both have a pretty good knock up that could set up the infinite. Basically like I said before he is not meant to benifit strider or doom anymore than by doing as much damage as he can to other team. Which works good with mags cause he is a rush down.
I also found that if you start an orb trap in the corner and call out mags grab assist you can get tons more hits off of it because it pulls them into the air
I personally think tempest dhc ouros is better than a dhc from shockwave because those little pieces of whatever from magz will kind of aid strider in the same way doom’s rocks do. It seems to facilitate the trap a little more.
Yeah, if u time it right almost all of the tempest will hit along w/ the ouros for some kick ass damage. doing this I’ve killed my friends point and assist characters all at once. Just dhc after the assist comes out and they’re screwed.
Mag/Doom is good, but it isn’t such a force to wreck a team as of Storm and Sentinel’s zoning crap, even Cable’s keep away, at least something a little more stable then mags rushing. The point is that mag has to get inside and this team has Strider/Doom which means thats what needs the most attention here to win most of the time. Mag will have a more of a hard time building meter and rushing against alot of teams because of the worry of Strider coming in next. Sentinel can just stay above it and win, storm can run away from mag forever, and Cable can even beat mag with cyke to counter Doom. Either way Mag has to go first or he has no more point so it will be easy to counter the first character like that. I’m not saying he’s useless, but it’s hard to win with him/strider/doom then with the other three or even other assists IMO.
P.S. BTW what ever happened to clock?!?
Did he die?!?
You know, I was thinking the exact same thing right before I read your post. He’ll be at evo this time won’t he? I can’t imagine why he wouldn’t. I bought last year’s dvd just to see Clock vs. Wong and it was awesome. How come that match doesn’t get more attention than it does? Aside from Soo’s exhibition match, Clock was the only one to get a win against Wong. I’m hoping someone takes Wong down this year because Evo is starting to feel like a rerun.
And also, when you see magz w/ doom assist, the Magz player generally tries to use the rocks to pin down the opponent and cross up. Granted, Magneto can’t teleport like strider, but a good magneto has such god-like speed that he might as well be teleporting; so the rocks kind of aid Magz the same way they do strider. When you think of it that way, it’s almost suprising that there aren’t more magz/strider/doom players.
Some people don’t show clock respect simply due to the fact that he plays strider. Sad, but true. And about Mag/Doom he still doesn’t have an anti air. Plus the same arguement can be made about the team against it.
Good point. And I personally think people who play Strider should get more respect. Doesn’t it piss anybody else off that you’ll practice for months w/ s/d just to get to the point where you can say, “Hey, now I don’t suck AS MUCH.” and yet people will still say that it’s easy to “Jump around and call out doom”. To all people who think S/D is cheap and easy: “You’re a bitch!”
Hey I’ve got a question too. How do you combat Felicia? when you turn on ouros she just instantly throws out sand and it lasts almost the whole duration of the ouros. I don’t even get enough time to teleport over there (and I’ve got a really fast teleporting instinct). Is there any kind of assist I can use first to maybe neutralize her so i can start up ouros. That stupid sand of hers just destroys sentinel and doom’s assist.
I know. I hate that crap badly. My friends tell me whats so hard about it that it looks so simple that I don’t have to practice any combos or anything. It’s hard to explain it because they can’t get it unless they play themselves. It seriously deserves respect and it needs it.
As for Felicia. Try getting up to her with teleports and get Doom on one side to jump to the other. Droping an assist right before you teleport is safe because she lags and you would be able to punish it and with her vitality, she cant risk it. Don’t try activating orbs because you’ll get splashed. This fight is really nothing big seing how Felicia has bad vitality like Strider so a simple air combo can be hell for her. As for activating orbs, just try rh bomb+Dronesxxorbs if she EVER tries to splash you, she’ll eat 58 points of damage and you’ll get your orbs out.
Even if you don’t do the bomb and just call out drones and do orbs, the sandsplash will most likley hit you for only a little bit then letting you block the rest leaving you able to get the trap started plus the drones hit her.
Once you get the trap going shes history. Her very bad defence helps you alot in this fight and same do teleports, but you still have to be careful. Be patient, drop drones teleport, cross up with doom, and it will get very easy in time. Felicia beating Strider is old news and is easy beating them now.
Take this fight as a Cable with bad armor and that you have to do a little more then a bomb by itself to stop AHVB. Just be careful.
Thanks bro. That Felicia stuff was getting annoying. I never even considered trying the bomb.(Duh!)
But hey, the direction of this thread isn’t to complain about losers or get strategy against opposing players. It’s all about more characters for S/D. So…what else do we got? I think we’ve been kind of going about all this the wrong way. Maybe the question isn’t “who can build meter really fast for strider”, or “who can give strider another good assist”, but rather who can go on point really well (aside from Strider) with doom assist and just kick ass without even using Strider. So are there any suggestions with that in mind? After all, Strider can’t be the only one who becomes a god w/ Doom’s assist.
Wolverine can be a very helpful meter builder with a good DHC into orbs. I’ll test this out. Another tihng about Felicia is don’t throw out the bomb without drones because it will cause flyscreen and the bomb won’t hit, Forgot to add that. Anyway Wolverines only problem on this team is his stamina, but aside from that he can get Strider’s opponent in the right place for a trap setup by DHC, he can build alot of meter when used correctly, and he works great on point with Doom.
I’ve heard that the best assist for juggs w/ S/D is ground because earthquake holds them in place long enough to start the trap. In fact I’ve heard you can use juggs IN PLACE OF DOOM if he has that assist. But if you did the trap wouldn’t have any chip damage and if you didn’t land hits right after juggs assist, then they would easily pushblock you. The whole concept does sound intriguing though.
this won’t work well because you won’t have lots of meter. juggs is good with teams that don’t require a lotta meter…spiral/sent/juggs is a good team for juggs, just cuz he’ll have 5 meters when he comes in, which will kill anything remaining with that stupid headcrush.
This seems to sound like that whole debate about if cable is any good for s/d. Maybe we should just say that meter hogs like them are just not good for the team. Too bad, because meter hogs rule.
what if you use spiral or something? good meter builder, right? she isn’t as effective as before, but can’t she serve her purpose? build meter and make a dent in their team. and her assists can be somewhat used for the trap, can’t it? i never actually used her in a serious game or anything…just tossing out a suggestion.
