2 years back, during the months prior to the release of Vanilla, Ono was trolling around and gave out a poll with a list of about 8 characters asking the public of who they wanted to see in the game.
Keep in the mind, this was VANILLA: In the post they listed some time released, and console relase characters (Rose, Gouken, Gen, etc) They also listed some Super SF4 characters, IIRC T hawk, Deejay Ibuki was on the list.
ANyway, point i’m getting at, I think capcom made the list of characters in the roster WAAAAAY BEFORE ANYTHING was ever released… from day one they KNEW who was going to be in super and ae before making them… Given this, Hugo was the only character on that list, that hasn’t made it yet!
This along side with that Hugo Title, and the fact that he’s in the backround of that one construction stage… ya… Hugo is definitely coming… i bet my soul on it.

He is easily one of my favorite characters of all time, dude is pure boss, every time he does a special he calls out the other fighter, he has a command normal where he grabs your face and headbutts you… BOSS.
The last couple of posts sum up my reasons as to why Alex should be in AE.Just imagine the camera looking up into the air as Alex slam dunks you from the sky to the ground.My only fear is that they’d make him look really bad and give him a really bad voice actor (TVC Alex voice is terrible).
Come on Capcom, only one character to go to 40! Seriously, I wouldn’t stop at 39. If AE will be successful (and yes, it’s going to be), I’m sure they will continue to add content to it. Maybe not this year, and they will probably be very careful not to draw attention away from SFxT near it’s release, but my money is on more characters. And Capcom will gladly take it.
Capcom said that this would be the last iteration of SFIV, but could it be possible for Capcom to release more characters, modes and costumes in the AE afterward ?
I suppose theoretically possible but that’s not the plan currently. -Sven
Maybe I’m grasping at straws here…but this answer leaves things open in my opinion.
I’m also not too excited about the new addition of Yun, Yang, E. Ryu and Oni…just 0 in creativity… it would be great if they can surprise us more with 2 additional character…
Yeah I know it’s probably rhetoric, but at the same time if they DO go back and add characters Sven can say “Well AT THE TIME there were no plans for expansions” with an answer like that. I’m not taking it as proof or anything.
i’m disappointed in their character selection for AE…i mean, you have the twins, who aren’t exactly like night and day, and then you add two more characters with a dp/hado/tatsu moveset. granted, they play differently, but c’mon capcom, as if we needed more divekicks and wakeup shoryu’s to what we already had.
gumpool and AudioCG, i agree I want Alex in there as well, if he doesn’t make it, thereis no point in me of getting this game and Ono needs to get to the bottom of what i just posted
I’d like to see a completely new character. I personally enjoyed playing as Hakan…although only casually when playing against some of my casual fighting game friends. As for Juri she has been a split between Ibuki as my main, so I’d definitely like to see Capcom go for a new character.
Now do I think that will happen…no. It’ll probably be something silly like a Evil Dan, which now that I think about it I wouldn’t mind seeing
