Korean music and Korean dramas
MP3s: Still kind of can’t believe it. I think partially because CDs were one of the few things that I bought that were specifically based on my personality and not just functionality. Also at the time I had a MiniDisk player/recorder so I scoffed at the idea of music not having a home or appearing on some sort of hardware format. My cousin predicted it at the time and I don’t have the most love for him so that also factored into my disbelief it’ll popular.

Ford Stock.
Good one, iTunes was a big surprise too
Well the main thing for me was I already knew a bit about MP3s before my cousin told me about it. But it the pre-napster days were ghetto as fuck. You have to get into a probably virus filled website on geocities that linked to another website that might have already been shut down because of the bandwidth. And even then it’s a fraction of what people were interested in. I was thinking no fucking WAAAAY this’ll fly if you need to swim through so much crap in order to listen to music free. Same with iTunes with it’s limited selection when it first launched. But I guess that’s what recognizing potential is about.

Netflix.
It was such a simple and obvious concept that it almost seemed too easy. I totally thought something would go wrong and the company would tank. I was very, very wrong.
Bluray
Good thing about Bluray is that it’s made DVD movies dirt cheap, I no longer download movies
iPods…I knew mp3 players would take off, but never though iPods would dominate the market the way they have
seems everyone is in awe at what Apple has achieved. Damnit I should have bought stocks after I saw Forrest Gump
ipad … never would have thought it would sell without a USB
Taylor Swift - Then again, Kanye played a part in that
American Idol - Why does America care so much?
iStuff - Apple can sell anything if they put a lowercase “i” in front of it.
Video Games - I don’t think there is an age limit on them anymore
Youtube - I knew it would be popular, but not this popular.
both, and add seinfeld to that list.
super homo movies, i though kids grew up and didnt like guys in tight latex suits anymore (or guys not wearing any pants). must have something to do with the tight jeans generation, how can you think straight with that much pressure squeezing your balls?
Google and the Wii.
Well, one thing that I thought WOULD get a lot more popular than it has is video chatting.
I mean, nearly every futuristic sci-fi movie pre-90’s featured people looking at each other on a screen while talking. When the technology first became readily available, I was like “OMFG THIS WILL REPLACE ALL PHONES”. And the general public pretty much responded with a resounding “meh.”
^_-;
We live in a rather impersonal, callous society, though.
Hell, the reason TEXTING has become so popular is because people are like “Oh god… I don’t wanna actually have to relate to this personal on an aural level… much less immediately - that’d show I value them. Nope. That ain’t happenin’. Games is all. Lemmie write up a text instead. When I’m bored. Mother fucker ain’t shit to* me*.”
As I see it.
Snuggies.
These are almost the exact reasons I didn’t think MP3s would take off and change music as a whole. You had to work to get an MP3 you wanted back in the day. Only thing you’re missing is the legal uproar over MP3s.
Now it seems obvious MP3s were destined for greatness.
When I first heard about Netflix, I thought they were going to get a metric shit ton of broken DVDs back in the mail for some reason. That was the main reason I thought they’d fail, and yes, it’s retarded.
And I also agree with whoever said Lil’ Wayne. I thought he would stay in the rap game after CM folded, but I never thought he would take off like he did a few years ago.
You’ve actually seen someone wear those?
For me I have to agree on Lil Wayne back when he was in with Cash Money with Birdman and Mannie Fresh, no one cared about him.

This shit that some people consider music
