Thigh Life & Style Magazine: Your guide to everything Chun-li!

so all that i wrote about e honda is still not in there just saying

I didn’t know it, but I haven’t been paying that much attention lately, and I actually really like just dashing up and cr.jabbing him.

Safe jump from Sweep. Read description for notes.

Edit: Apologise for previous video. Tried an audio replacement but YouTube removed due to some sort of copyright infringement. If any of you know how to work around this, please let me know.

Nice one man. Yeah can see it looses out to reversal SPD’s… but who the hell is reversal SPD’ing jump ins on wake up? Haha. It’s weird, I think part of me already does this kinda things, I’m just not conscious of it or don’t think to give it a name… I’ve definitely had a go at meaty jump in MK before. Anyway, nice video!

Anyone who hasn’t had their stuff added to the guide, I hear you.

It’s not just you, it’s everyone. I haven’t been updating. I will get to it, but work is busy and when I get out of work I’m not usually in the mood to tinker with these damn forums (new forums look fantastic, but I hate the way it makes you deal with posts).

Shouldn’t jump back + RH be one of these options? I’ve seen OHT use it very effectively.

Doesn’t your quote relate to on her wake up? If so then NO you should really never jump on your wake up… Cos of meaty’s

I didn’t think it was about wake up, does “under pressure” translate to Wake up? I thought it was more like ‘when you can’t get them off you’. Like when they start combos up at close and you want to be back in that poke region. If that section applies to Chun’s wake-up game, it might need to be reworded, no? or am I just an idiot

The quote generally relates to when Chun is under pressure, not when Chun is applying pressure. When you are getting pressured, jump back HK is a pretty poor option.

Even if you are waking up (which can mean when you are getting pressured), jump back HK is not usually a good choice. It will lose to any meaty that tags you during your jump frames before you leave the ground, which is not hard to do.

EDIT: Let me rephrase because after re-reading my post I don’t think it’s clear either.

Jump back HK is a good tool to apply pressure, not typically to escape pressure. There are situations where it is viable, but those are typically against characters whose offenses start from the air like Rufus and Yun.

I don’t remember who wrote it, but aa c.mp, super works really well, I approve of this tactic!

I notice while playing against honda, you can neutral jump LK when he butt stomps (fierce or medium) and it will hit and he will fall slowly, he can’t be air grabbed, but EX legs or SBK and the Ultras will get him. Best thing is, it’s really easy to do.

wait what?

It’s basically a kick that goes straight over Chun’s head and practically reaches the top of the screen. Unfortunately, if you get hit if he goes past you, or if he does it right next to you. I figured that could be added to the E. Honda matchup… though not many people exactly struggle with Honda I would think. And EX legs really doesn’t seem all that possible after the LK.

neutral jump lk doesn’t have juggle properties… Just thought I’d throw that out there, or am I missing something in your initial description?

quoted for emphasis

Damn, and I thought I was onto something :frowning:

Yeah i was noticing that too against one of my friends amd thought it was a fluke too, lmao.

One of the best posts I’ve read of this site; it really got me thinking. Good shit.

One thing I’d like to add is; throws. I’d rather take a throw instead of getting dp ultra/combo into ultra etc. but you’ve got to consider who’re playing and the factChun doesn’t have the best wakeup. But that’s just me and the fact I play characters with poor wakeup (Sak, Mak)

lol Ugh, a [S]salaryman[/S] teacher again, instant workload ftl. I’ve determined the nearby SF4 cabs here, but obviously, I won’t be able to play as frequently as I used to. I hope you guys will keep dat thigh flame alive and burning in case I don’t appear as much here (or on FB) anymore. :woot:

Next tourney will be on Oct 15, I hope I can improve from my last showing.

I think that was darklight? At least, I think it was him.

Anyway, looking at “secondary for Chun” thread again… yeah I think I’ve changed my mind in the time since I last posted that. I’m currently playing three characters (Chun, Rose, Juri), and trying to whittle it down to two. No two of these three really cover each others bad matchups (and with Rose, I feel she shares some of Chun’s bad ones and more). But I’m more comfortable this way, and I feel I can definitely learn through and overcome some of the m/u’s…

Juri shares bad matchups as well… she definitely loses to Akuma (demon flip mixups and general vortex), Rufus is maybe 4.5/5.5 in Rufus’ favor in AE, she does moderately better against Viper because she has more consistent anti-airs and ways to get away from Viper’s burn kick mixups.

I like Juri’s play style though, so I’ve been playing her occasionally since Super. I generally don’t feel that she’s really strong tournament material though - in the long run she has to work even harder than Chun does.
