I was playing Ruin yesterday at GF at a local tournament. Out of everyone, he was probably the only one who knew how to play AGAINST Zero at the time – zoning with gun and disruptor. He was using Wesker/Mag/Dorm. I was playing my Vanilla team, Zero/Spencer/Task. However, I was also imagining how I would play if I was using Zero/Vergil/Dante.
I think the plan here in that hypothetical situation would be to also zone until I can get him midscreen. Call Dante out and start the attack. However, my problem is trying to effectively zone using Zero AND Vergil from full screen, since calling Vergil naked is suicide, and level 3 buster isn’t enough… or is it?
Long story short, I’m fine with people trying to get in with Zero – its those people that can actually zone Zero I’m having a ‘hypothetical’ problem with given Zero + the brothers sparda.
what I do if I want to push them fullscreen, I call Vergil and immediatly Hadangeki xx Lv3 buster so that they cant punish him even if they see him coming. now vs Dorm is kinda hard since he can chaotic flame him (so just dont do it).
Zero goes something like this:
vs chars that can rush him down: Zone and run away until u get a hit.
vs chars that can zone him: rush them down + assists.
that’s why zero is so lovely, he can play whatever style he wants.
He is a decent anchor, but you’ll have assistless Zero which is not good. Magnus and Dante do way better solo than Zero does. I would play Zero/Dante/Magneto. Really diverse team, but I would start Zero on point or at least second with Dante always backing him up.
we’ve only had two “important” tournaments so far. One of which was won by Iron Fist. The results themselves shouldn’t be the end and all to how great a character is. People really don’t know how dangerous Arthur is. Realpolitix took out Yipes at SCR first round with Arthur.
I feel one of the main reasons people don’t play Zero is just a lack of synergy with other characters. All the 900k for 1 meter combos I’ve seen people pulling off so far have only used Doom, Dante, Sentinel, or Vergil assist. Right now I’m running Dorm/Mag/Wesker but I want to drop Wesker to put Zero on the team (I would probably do Dorm/Zero/Mag) but I can’t find any good ways to do extended damage. Anyone have any ideas?
Honestly, I don’t see the problem. Zero is insanely synergistic – just not necessarily on damage. There’s resets, lockdown, zoning, etc. Like was said earlier, Zero is pretty much a swiss knife character that can fit to any role.
My Zero/Spencer/Taskmaster for example – the plan is very basic for getting in. Once that happens though, Zero builds meter for Spencer/Taskmaster while using Spencer assist for some really good left/right mixups. I cap at 750k damage for them using 2 meter, but meter is never a problem to begin with.
For your team, have Mag to cover your approach while Dorm can lock down, depending on your assist of choice for him.
Zero/Doom/Dante or Zero/Dante/Doom? I was thinking Zero/Doom since Sphere Flame DHC is similar damage to the Devil Trigger DHC but for 2 meter instead of 3.
Or I don’t know enough about Dante and I’m wrong so feel free to correct.
Ive been running Zero/Vergil/Doom for about a month. And heres my situation. I feel like Ive finally hit my stride with Zero (took me long enough) and I feel like my Doom is in the top 25 to 10 % of Dooms Ive been pretty confident with him since FOTW. I feel like my Vergil just wont evolve to far past day 1 the more i try to play him the more im just frustrated. my problem now is this i need a wall carry assist or mid screen extender since I dont jump loop I feel midscreen assist extension is more reliable for me. I’ve been messing with Magneto assist and i can get a relaunch sometimes but the cornenr carry Isn’t that good. I actually do like strider gram it works well but i feel like im wasting an assist in not using vajra and there could be extensions with that. I have fun playing strider but he cant hit for no damage (yet). Any suggestions on were I should go from here?This soul searching be wearing me out
also about dorm i would try pillar assist in the corner you might be able to get a third knockdown like missiles gets you
yeah, that combo is pretty useful for how simple it is, best part is that you can even do it off throws and get them to the corner in 1 combo (which is where Zero’s genocide starts)
My favorite is easily the Cap Am team, but it depends heavily on Sentinel Drones (for early Shield Slash zoning) which very rarely get to come out against popular characters like Hawkeye and he has a lot of bad matchups in the anchor spot. I want to try this team next time I hit Local Battles and see how it holds up.
Nova/Zero just clicks so well, still deciding on the anchor. Another anchor suggestions would be welcome. Only criteria is that it helps Mova get in - that probably rules out Spencer sadly.
Rising Fang assist from Iron Fist works SO WELL for Zero, but they can’t DHC for crap. Like its horrible. It’s a shame because Rising Fang is just WOW for Zero. Seriously.
…Seriously? Zero can’t DHC into Iron Fist (whatever the pillar hyper of IF is called) and vice versa?
Also IF doing a long ground chain into crumple = raw tag into Zero does stupid amounts of damage. Well, with IF to Hulk it’s ToD on anyone with such a simple magic series combo.
Imagine my shock. Skittles => Spirit of the Dragon only works in corner unless you’re able to have Zero really close to the downed opponent. Spirit of the Dragon => Skittles works inconsistently. You can do it at the exact same time you did it before and really not know what’ll happen. It’s almost like you have to wait until the very last second. Overall though their synergy sucks. Fists => Sougenmu could work I guess, but Fists is so unpredictable based on where you do it. When you DHC your character starts at the opposite side of the screen sometimes. Like… Really?!
No I know about rapid slash thats what ive been using I love that assist. Im looking for an alternative to that because My Vergil Is my weak link i may try him again later but i picked that character for all the wrong reasons to begin with.
