Wussup guys,
My usual team is zero/dante/magneto with shippuga/jam session/ em disruptor for assists. But ive been toying around with wesker/zero/dante with samurai edge/shippuga/weasel shot for assists. I havent gotten the chance to test it on any real opponents yet because no one plays marvel where im at. But any way the theory is with wesker rekkouha works well after maximum wesker and shippuga is good enough to cover teleports at half screen. With sougenmu active its even better. With zero on point wesker’s samurai edge can create some really ambiguous hi lo mix ups with zero’s j.H if you can manage to get in; that’s why I chose weasel shot over jam session. IMO weasel shot is really underrated for zero, its hitbox is just as long as zero’s teleport and its hard to punish because he jumps back. So this covers zero’s entry well enough if you use a buster plus an airdash to make it safer. But its only a prelude to the real shananigans w/samurai edge. Its a little dangerous to call in wesker during a block string unless you teleport behind or above the opponent. I prefer the up teleport because it crosses up and j.H hits overhead while wesker hits low. Thats a hi lo cross up with a twentyfive percent chance to block theoretically. Like I said, I havent had a chance to test it but ive been messing around in training mode with it and it seems pretty solid. I was wondering if anyone has tried this setup and had any success with it? Sounds good on paper…
Shot out to you CTG!! I acually stopped playing mvc3 for like a month because of religious reasons. Mine were because I think video games send subliminal messages and most games have this demonic aspect too it and its kinda weird when the hero is acually a villain. But I decided that in fighting games its not so bad because its not good vs. evil its more like a hi speed chess match of execution, strategy, problem solving, and salt. As for the subliminal messages you cant avoid them no matter what you do. Im sure thats a subject for another forum but I think its cool that you stick to your morals and they affect you enough so that even something simple like a video game doesnt escape scrutiny. Its not unusual but no so common these days.
Any time you use Wesker/Zero/??, your last slot can be a lot of characters. But in order of importance, you generally want them to:
- Provide an assist that controls the horizontal plane on the floor or makes the opponent have to change their ground approach
- Be able to DHC into and out of Rekkoha effectively
- Be a viable point character that is given extra options with Wesker and Zero assists
- Provide an assist that will allow Wesker and Zero to extend their combos for extra damage
- Provide a compatible THC super for wesker when he’s at point.
This opens the floor for a lot of possiblities. For example:
Iron Man unibeam does 1, 4, and 5 GREAT, 2 good enough, but flops at 3.
Sentinel drones does good at 1 and 3, very good at 2, fails at 4, and does great at 5.
Taskmaster is very good at 1, great at 2-4, and good at 5.
Taskmaster is easily my first pick because he’ll pretty much have all my bases covered. But sometimes, I being good at everything isn’t enough in certain matchups. Sometimes I’ll need some extra ground control against tougher and will pick Iron Man for my third. This essentially is me going all or nothing with Wesker and Zero by providing them with a much more abusable assist that also means more damage off a clean hit.
Sentinel does allow combo extensions. You just have to be more creative with him.
OTG resets backed by drones are some of the hardest shit to block as well. When I don’t have meter with Zero, call sentinel, dive, random hienkyaku or Jump 214L>cr L. or another retarded mixup generally gives me an opening.
This is pretty much the best way to end a combo without using meter ever.
Of all the new characters in ultimate who looks like they would be the best teammates for Zero? Since he can OTG and relaunch by himself you can be more versatile with assists. I like Nova’s slide assist and Ghost Rider’s chain. no homo…
Didn’t Seth say that Nova’s slide assist was changed?
I’m betting on Vergil’s Rapid Slash assist to work with the Steb assist combo. Also hopefully Doctor Strange’s Avacado assist, maybe even the Bolts assist if it works the way I think it does. Clothesline Rocket may even work but uses a wall bounce.
But unless they make a straight clone of it, nothing gonna replace Jam Session for Zero.
Wait why can Zero OTG and relaunch with himself? Can you buster cancel the dive now?
This is news from months ago, Zero can cancel any special move into lvl3 buster. Sentsuizan.H>>Buster works for relaunches.

As for teams, Zero/Dante/???
I’m really conflicted as who to put as my third, I wanted Nova, but I’m not too sure about his assists. Now to wait on Frank West and Raccoon, then decide…
Yeah, but he had the slide as an assist on the character select. Im hoping they just leave it alone.
Im thinking of trying out the Zero/Strider duo. That dive kick assist tracks so I hear. If you cover Strider and teleport from about half screen or three quarters screen away then it would be very confusing which way to block. With Sougenmu activated it would be really good against zoning teams. I want to anchor Strider for his Ouroborous + lvl.3 x-factor shananigans.
The slide was removed as an assist. It’s now the overhead strike.
Im liking how Nova looks too. If his centurion rush assist can go through projectiles like charging star then i’d use that one. Gravimetric Pulse looks interesting but im not sure if its just a shield or an does it also inflict damage. Im looking for an assist that will protect Zero at close range and make it really dangerous to try and counter. Kinda like gustaff flame. Novas overhead strike looks good for hi/lo which is what I prefer but I want some invicible properties too.
Captain America got buffed drastically. He already does massive damage but now he’s faster and has an otg. Zero/Wesker/Cap anyone?
I want someone to try this out for me. I just moved so im waiting for my ps3 to be shipped and I dont want to wait until tommorow to go to the rec center.
Here’s the deal: Im in the lab with Zero/Wesker/Cap and it dawns on me that Captain America’s shield slash could be used as a really good reset. But by the time I found the proper setup the rec center closed. But im pretty sure if you build up enough HSD and do the usual call assist dive OTG with shield slash your opponent will recover quick enough for you to teleport behind them as his shield returns creating an ambiguous corner mix-up. Or you can try a fuzzy guard. Im not sure if it will hit if they tec forward. Dont forget to try it with Wesker too its probabbly much easier with him because he can teleport after samurai edge.
If I’m doing Zero/Dante/Magneto, can I still do the combo into Rekkoha Devil Trigger stuff? What is some stuff I can do with that because I’m not seein’ it at all.
You could still do that entire combo at the end of that video (just replace Doom’s assist with Magneto’s, and feel free to leave out the lightning loop).
Do I still need to do Shippuga loop or can I do the normal j.:h: :d::h: BnB in place of it? Also, thank you.
you can do j.2H->j.H in place of it. You can also sneak in a jump loop after that.
