No you didnt look like an idiot, I did when I posted that pages back and got no answer nor discussion from nobody after posting that huge wall of text lol. Hey Caul, btw, how do you find Tasky+Zero synergy, I might give zero/tasky/doom a try.
Hoping you guys can help me out a bit… I just dropped Dante in my team (in sig) and I need a replacement who has good synergy with zero and magneto and can replace dante’s jam session assist for his BnB.
I’m pretty sure most here would say Doom, or you could run Marn’s team: Mag, Zero, Sentinel, even though it probably won’t help with the BnB.
gah I’m terrible with doom lol. I hate keepaway.
Check out AvariceX’s post for a more in-depth look at characters he thinks are good with Zero. I’d add Taskmaster to his list, since he can DHC to and from Zero (you can get two Legion Arrows with full damage off a Rekkoha, in fact), his assist works in Zero’s combo and is helpful for getting in. Taskmaster kind of needs an AAA, which Zero can provide, although there are better ones.
EDIT: Oh, and Rekkoha xx up Legion Arrows will also let you DHC into pretty much anything, because it will leave your opponent suspended just off the ground right in front of you for a couple seconds.
Hm… I’ll try Deadpool or Chun. I like both of their playstyles, thanks.
I realized today that while Zero-Iron Man-Doom is pretty good, it can’t get by on its own without having counterpick characters in your back pocket. I’ll post a lot more on this in the matchup thread when I’m not just about to pass out :D.
I’m thinking of running Zero-Chun-Doom for a while now. I really really want to find a team with Zero that I can use for any matchup (I can have bad matchups, just none where I get completely murdered like Zero-IM-Doom) so I can spend the next ten years refining it :D.
As stupid as this sounds I ended up picking Viper. Sure she doesn’t have DHC synergy but she has great assists and goes very nicely with Magneto, since he builds meter and she eats it.
Im thinking of dropping Dante for doom. What i will miss is Dantes amazing assist jam session, especially after an otg suizan(sp?) dive to continue the combo. Does doom have an assist that can work like this? What are you guy’s thoughts on Zero/Doom/Sent? I cant wait to get back home to start trying them out hopefully within the week.
Plasma Beam and Molecular Shield assist both work for that purpose in combo, though the timing on Plasma Beam is a little trickier. Zero/Doom/Sent is probably a very solid team.
Its not stupid, its actually very smart. Team flexibility with assists capable of having more than one function to achieve multiple objectives and deal with multiple scenarios easily outweighs DHC synergy or damage output of OTG combo’s.
I’ve watched a lot Final Round XIV and while X23 is still my planned third, I want to check Taskmaster, Phoenix and Spencer.
I had written off Phoenix due to the concern of having her and Zero on the same team due to their health. However, there was a player in the tourney that did great with it. His Zero ran point, building meter with extended air combos. He had Zero’s movement mastered. He avoided damage with air and command dashes.
Spencer had never really interested me beyond Bionic Lancer, but after seeing Combofiend hit 3 comebacks against Marn, it demands that I check him out. If for nothing else but due diligence. Kinda the same thing with Task.
Yeah now that I think about it you are definitely right. Being able to get in safely with the right assists and what not > doing 100k more damage with a worse team in the long run. I’ve got my work cut out for me though, pretty fragile team + Viper will take some time to learn. I’m still adapting to my stick so I’m hoping her high execution playstyle will help me out big time.
@CTG: Who was running Zero and Phoenix? The only Zeros I saw were either mediocre or Marn.
I’ll have to recheck the vids (they’re all on Justin.tv under Team Spooky) - pretty sure the guy made it to the Top 16, maybe even Top 8. It was pretty impressive to watch.
That’s one of the things that has me avoiding Viper for right now. I’ve decided to try to get comfortable with the arcade stick. I’m coming along, but C.Viper is way too execution intensive for me right now.
I was wondering if anyone could help get the best out of my team Dante(y)/Zero(a)/Doom(y). Like i know that there is better partners 4 for zero and doom but i really like Dante as a character because of DMC series being favorite of mine as well as zero.
I don’t know what order would better, Dante first or last so that i can DHC properly with zero and doom. Don’t know about the assist choices either apart from weasel shot, which i prefer over plasma beam for zero mix ups. I really just like this team so if anyone could help me improve it i would be thankful. also i would play matches and see which works best but my XBOX live ran out so i can’t really test on human opponents
Dante Zero Doom is a good order for that team. You can DHC from Million Dollars to Rekkoha with good timing before the last shot of Million Dollars, or you can DHC from Devil Trigger (or a blocked Million Dollars) to Sougenmu to get a powered up assist for Zero (or just to DHC to safety). Also once you tag Zero in (by DHC or whatever) he’s going to be setup to DHC into Doom which is where he wants to be. Probably my biggest concern would be that Zero’s assists are pretty lackluster without Sougenmu, so running him second means Dante isn’t going to have as effective assist cover, but Dante can cover pretty well all options on his own so it shouldn’t be a huge problem.
yeah i get you i definitely agree. What would you suggest for doom b or y as i prefer y Dante for zero mix ups because of it not knocking down and generally feeling better when using it. For Zero i would properly rock a or b. Thanks 4 reply BTW
I think you’ll catch plenty of people by surprise using the Weasel Shot assist. Most will assume (with good reason) that you’re using Jam Session. I messed with it (Weasel Shot) some in training mode while using Zero and I liked the results.
Also AA assists aren’t as important in MvC3 as they are in MvC2. Since WS can go full screen in most cases, but leaves the air open, maybe try mixing it up with Doom Plasma Beam. Make them guess which is coming next.
Yo, son it’s Bloodyxhawk your on my list I didn’t know you use SRK?
I think it’s been discussed but, how does everyone feel about Amaterasu? I think if I had to rep a 3rd it’d be him, Zero/Ammy/Doom. Amaterasu just -wrecks- sentinel and other dangerous characters quite hard, has good priority, is capable of rush down or zoning, the cold star assist is pretty godlike, and I believe Okami Shuffle is pretty solid with either Zero or Doom to DHC into.
