I need advice with my team Zero/Doom-HM/Strider. I don’t want to drop this team because these 3 are my favorite characters and also my best characters. The problem with this team is that Zero can’t combo after an airthrow. I don’t want to switch my doom assist because HM sets up allot of flashy shit for zero so i changed Strider’s assist to his A assist. It works like Zero/Doom/Wesker, Strider’s slash provides a good otg that has been very helpful at setting up combos especially combos after air throws. Strider’s B assist is also great because he allows extensions over airthrows and additional lightning combos. If i can say so myself, Zero seems to work better with these two assists than Vajira because Vajira does take work while these two assists offer things for free.
However, i love the vajira assist allot and the switch sort of hurts my doom a bit because he gains allot of help from Vajira. Are there ways i can combo off Airthrows with the Hiddenmissiles and Vajira set up?
The question you have to ask yourself is it better to be flashy or effective? If HM is setting up or a large part of your BnBs that’s one thing - using them just to be flashy and style on folks is another.
I want both. HM provides the effectiveness because Zero can do allot of lightning shit with them, it’s the best combo set up after dante’s IMO… but i do think that switching HM hurts less than switching vajira, the thing is the damage in combos are very limited with plasma beam.
I’ve tried switching out Doom for Dante, Vergil, Deadpool, Dorm, but i love doom. I’m so good with the character and i am capable of doing deadlier tag in techs due to my doom skills and i am a character loyalist. Strider/Doom has been my fighting game life for such a long time and Zero is the character who got me to accept Vanilla. Do you think Doom can work well with Strider’s other assists since Strider-A is just like Wesker’s low shot assist?
Unless it hits low, it’s not like Wesker’s assist b/c you won’t be able to setup a hi-low unblockable w/ Footdive.
I feel like you have a couple options:

Thanks. I may try your 1st suggested option. Do you have any vids that show decent mix ups after air throws? I’m not certain that Ame it hits low (don’t think so) but i hope some one can test it while i am away.
I’ve been experimenting with Zero and Spencer over the last few months, and here’s the best team compositions i’ve found.
Zero/Spencer/Sentinel (This is the best one in my opinion. Spencer gets an assist that allows him to mix up his opponent multiple times and gives him a combo extender. Same for Zero, drones bring the two characters together the best imo.)
Zero/Spencer/Doom (This one is second best. Same as drones, but you can’t get as many mixups out of the assist. You can get more damage though.)
Zero/Spencer/Hawkeye (This one is good because both characters can really take advantage of arrows, and Hawkeye is a much better anchor than Doom or Sent. No combo extenders bring it down though, but it doesn’t matter too terribly much for Zero.)
Zero/Spencer/Task (This is about the same as Hawkeye, just if you’d rather play Task instead.)
Zero/Spencer/Akuma (This one is nice. Tatsu helps both characters, but again, no combo extensions i know of for Spencer.)
Zero/Spencer/Strider (The worst one out of the ones listed here IMO. Spencer has to use Wallbounce early to combo off of Vajira, sort of crippling his damage. Zero does fairly well with the assist, but I strongly feel that the ones listed above are far better.)
I don’t really feel Spencer is the best to put on anchor when played with Zero. I like him better with at least one assist to help him, as he really needs it.
i feel spencer should go first so u have a safe dhc option. I do think that Spencers B assist (im assuming that is your assist choice) is really good for zero with combo extension and incoming mix ups.
You can make a Zero DHC into Spencer safe, assuming your opponent is halfscreen or more away from you.
Assuming you have a charged buster, release and IMMEDIATELY CANCEL INTO SOUGEMNU. Then DHC into Bionic Maneuvers. If they get hit by the buster, the Bionic Maneuvers will connect, and you get free damage. If not, then it’s safe, and they can’t do anything against it.
Also, you can do lightning xx buster xx L hienkyaku close to the ground and raw tag into Spencer and it should be safe.
Besides, I like playing Zero first, simply because he gets Spencer’s angled wire grapple for dirty mixups and combo extensions. Sougemnu fireballs are fairly good for Spencer, but you shouldn’t need them if you’re playing one of the characters I suggested. And Zero builds meter for Spencer, which is also why I like playing Zero first better.
So i’m trying to pick up a new “fun” team. What do you guys think of Zero, Spidey, Ammy? What assist would compliment Zero well? I was thinking his Web Zip move? Anything else i should know? Also I have resets w/ zero that can lead into the ultimate web throw for a guaranteed kill lol.

I always use beam for Zero/Doom, its pretty good and helps him a lot (and you should run vergil last imo)
Also, what do u guys think of Zero/Magneto? Im more worried about the overall use of EM disruptor as an assist, not much for combos but for the neutral game.
