I have 0 problems with the storyline between Murphy and Mysterio’s daughter. There are a ton of chicks around her age who end up in an entanglement with someone older than them. The majority of people don’t know Murphy’s age and I certainly didn’t until reading it a few posts ago. The storyline is simply that Murphy is Mysterio’s former arch-nemesis who turned to clapping his daughter’s cheeks and trying to become son-in-law.
People are overthinking the storyline and the emphasis on Rey calling her “naive” is about her age relative to how dastardly people in the WWE can be.
Just because girls have relationships with dudes they shouldn’t doesn’t make it right.
That’s like saying alot of countries don’t think pedophilia is that bad so we shouldn’t either. Just because it exists in other areas doesn’t make it right.
I wouldn’t equate a 19-year-old being in a relationship with someone 23, 24 or 25 as pedophilia or anything similar to that. I said someone older than them; I didn’t specify how much older. Essentially, the philosophical question is: when does someone have enough agency and autonomy to make their own decisions about someone older than them by more than a year or two. Gender and sexual orientation doesn’t matter. Is it 21? Is it half the age plus seven? I don’t know, I’m not the person with a definitive answer to that question.
What I do know though, is that this is literally a fictitious relationship between someone 19 years old and someone we in-universe know is only older than her. I don’t see it as anything different than a 19 year old actress being cast in a lead romantic role with an actor who happens to be 10 years plus older. But he passes for being 4-5 years her senior.
Like, this is the same fictitious show where a literally nearly 60-year-old man “deadman” with bad knees beat a 40-year-old man in his athletic prime, plus his two cronies in their 40’s, in a “buried alive” match earlier this year.
Where Dominck Mysterio had his legal custody fought over in a ladder match.
The same fictitious show that had a 20 something-year-old black guy impregnate a 70-year-old woman who gave birth to a hand.
Fictious status doesn’t prevent it from being creepy. Ie. Netflix and cuties movie.
Everyone has access to the internet, just because they don’t say Murphys age doesn’t prevent people from people finding out. It doesn’t make people automatically ignorant. As well as most people know he’s way way older… I literally got texted by a friend that told me what was going on and he’s not even that deep into prowrestling like me. So people do know something is up.
I can’t comment on Cuties, haven’t seen the movie yet still. The marketing material, poster-wise, in the US was poorly done but that doesn’t mean the content of the movie was a Serbian film tier.
So in general you’re against big age differences between actors and actresses in romantic situations no matter the storyline, plot or happenstance? IE: Lost in translation, Pretty Woman, Game of Thrones, Ozarks etc?
I remember when some girl who had sex with him tried to blow up his spot online and get clout. She’s the reason he doesn’t really do hotel parties anymore. I’ve run into him smashed at cons and he’s Def slept with a few people I know
I didn’t know it was that known but I’ve heard about it from an indie guy that used to date one of my college friends. I can’t say I’m surprised by this news since a lot of married athletes/entertainers who travel frequently have infidelity issues in their marriage. I hear the same type of stories from my friends who are/were often away from home on military duty.
