Reason is easy. Vince only approves if the wrestler got over on his watch. If he’s not responsible, he will nip it in the bud real quick.

I actually have a diff opinion. I think every since nxt lost to aew post 2019 SS. I think Vince has been on the warpath to fuck nxt people. Vince didn’t make Charlotte, she’s also a nxt girl. Don’t forget that’s where she built her brand. Trips also got demoted after too
Man those were some rough few weeks where Triple H had to try and justify the Charlotte win, when you could tell he really didn’t want to. The Charlotte stans were just as bad.
Edit: God that short reign was such a dumpster fire that it didn’t help anyone.
If I remember correctly they put the belt on Charlotte because Rhea was having visa issues and they needed a reason to take her off TV. Vince saw it as hitting two birds with one stone when they decided to move NXT to primetime to compete with AEW and put the belt on Charlotte to get more viewers for NXT. Quite hilarious that they thought Charlotte of all people would get people to tune in. That idea was all types of terrible.

This past summer showed that Charlotte is the least drawing of the 4HW. Sasha, Bayley and you can also add Asuka to the list were workhorses and carried the WWE.

Last black person who had a rocket was Kofi, and even then he still wasn’t in the main event. And we see how that ultimately ended with how he lost and never got a rematch, then stuck back in a tag team division
I’d like to think Big E or Lee will be the ones to break the cycle and be THE guy, but idk if it’ll happen. Inclined to agree with Maxx on this one
Kofi’s reign as champ may have been heavily lackluster in the long run, but you have to admit the actual moment of him winning the title will forever be hype. You had people who didn’t give two fucks about wrestling tuning in to watch that match and essentially saved WM35 from being an overall forgettable show. Now we just need to hope that WWE can find a way to replicate that hype with a Big E or Lee.
