Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful broke the news that Lio Rush had heat on him. Sean was able to get in contact with Lio to get his side of the story:

“My issue has never been with Bobby (Lashley),” Lio told Fightful. “Being with Bobby has helped the both of us out tremendously. It’s given me speaking confidence I didn’t know i had. I never was a promo guy on the indies. But being with Bobby made me a promo guy. My issue isn’t with my on screen role. My issue is the fact that I haven’t been on meet & greets with Bobby, haven’t been getting paid for merchandise for us that has my catchphrases on them. (I) have been sent to live shows and TVs and forced to pay for my own rental for 5 days as well as hotel while not making enough money to do so. Walking around broke in the biggest sports entertainment industry that there is while having two kids and a wife to support.”

Sapp brought up the story from PWInsider about Rush not wanting to carry water for the veterans:

“It’s not about race and it has never been, but public perception is important to me and when we have fans that travel all over the globe and watch us get off of buses and into hotels, the LOOK of a black kid carrying waters and bags for other wrestlers is just not a good look, especially when I’m trying to portray myself as a superstar as well,” Rush told us.

On Saturday, Fightful revealed that there was a situation that garnered heat on Rush involving Finn Balor. Several Fightful sources stated that Balor let Lio Rush know that Vince McMahon and other management would probably look down on Rush’s wife sitting in on rehearsals. Rush would somewqhat deny that story, and instead blame someone else:

“Me and Finn are cool, and my wife has never been an issue. There is someone who works for WWE who has hated me since the day I’ve worked for ROH and now that they work for WWE they’re leaking false information to get me released. At a certain point, I have to defend myself so that’s what I decided to do. We’re all human, and we’re all grown ass adults. The kind of shit the flies backstage is ridiculous and I’m surprised more people aren’t speaking up,” Rush said.

As far as Lio’s disappointment with how wrestling media covered the story, he opened up about that, and the way that he’d like to see things handled.

“These sheets should spread positive messages to the world but they only want to spread false, negative reports to damage someone else’s career. What’s wrong with spreading truth? Thank you for reaching out to me, and I appreciate you for doing that. I honestly do. I’ve never been about the BS or politics or anything else rather than showing up to work, doing my job and providing for my family. I grew up in the worst parts of DC, and certain things that I was taught will always stick with me and why I’ve gotten to where I am now in life. I realize that people will talk regardless of how much positivity you try and push out into the world,” Rush closed.

Sean Ross Sapp concluded the interview by stating:

“It’s worth noting that WWE typically doesn’t provide wrestling websites with talent interviews or breaking news stories, as is often done.”

Lio has been a headache literally everywhere he has gone

He is enzo without the promo
Low Ki and Aries without the history.

Lio will not make it in wwe. And it is his fault

Another set of NXT tapings…

Undisputed
  • NXT Tag Team Champions The Viking Raiders open the show with an in-ring promo. Erik and Ivar talk about how they have gone to RAW to raid the show there. They call out NXT General Manager William Regal and offer to relinquish the titles but The Street Profits, Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins, interrupt. They may have lost the match a few weeks ago but they know they can beat The Raiders. The Raiders tell Regal to make the match and it’s on for later tonight with the titles on the line this time

  • Keith Lee defeated Cezar Bononi

  • Kushida defeated Kona Reeves. Drew Gulak watched the match from the top of the ramp

  • Vanessa Borne defeated Jessie Elaban

  • The Street Profits vs. NXT Tag Team Champions The Viking Raiders ended in a disqualification due to interference from The Forgotten Sons. Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch then hit the ring to continue the brawl. After the match, The Viking Raiders saluted the crowd and took a bow. They laid the titles down in the middle of the ring, apparently relinquishing them and saying goodbye to the brand. Fans chanted “Thank you Raiders”

  • Xia Li defeated Rachael Evers

  • The Undisputed Era’s Adam Cole, Roderick Strong, Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish come to the ring. Cole says the rumors on their demise are not true and they are stronger than ever. Cole says at “Takeover: San Jose” in two weeks, O’Reilly and Fish will win the NXT Tag Team Titles, and he will win the NXT Title. NXT Champion Johnny Gargano interrupts and has words with Cole. Matt Riddle rushes the ring from the crowd and goes after Strong but they beat him down. Gargano hits the ring and makes the save, clearing the ring with Riddle

  • Mansoor Al-Shehail defeated Sean Maluta

  • NXT North American Champion The Velveteen Dream comes to the ring for a promo but he’s interrupted by Tyler Breeze. They have words and Breeze wants a title shot. Dream says Breeze has to get in line, but he will take a selfie with Breeze just because. They take the selfie and Breeze drops Dream (So they went from Dominic to Breeze…okay.)

  • Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner defeated Team 3.0

  • Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch vs. The Forgotten Sons vs. The Street Profits vs. The Undisputed Era for the vacant titles will take place at Takeover

  • Candice LeRae defeated Reina Gonzalez. After the match, LeRae is attacked by Marina Shafir, Jessamyn Duke and NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler. Io Shirai runs down with a kendo stick and makes the save

  • Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish defeated Matt Riddle and NXT Champion Johnny Gargano after an assist from Adam Cole and Roderick Strong

  • Mia Yim defeated Bianca Belair

  • Kushida defeated Drew Gulak. After the match, Gulak argues with the referee and Kushida about the finish, claiming he kicked out just in time. This looked like the setup to a rematch

  • Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch vs. The Forgotten Sons ends in a disqualification when The Street Profits hit the ring. The Forgotten Sons turn things around with steel chair shots. All four members of The Undisputed Era run in next, beating everyone up. They brought a ladder into the mix and used that on the other teams. The tapings ended with The Undisputed Era posing on a ladder together

Assuming what he says is accurate I’m not seeing where he’s wrong.

Same. I got no issues and he addressed them personally, took the time when most just rumors fly.

Rush may have been a dick backstage or whatever…but that doesn’t mean he’s lyin about how WWE is treating him nor does it make it right for them to do it.

There no way Lio should be broke if he comes to work and does his job.

He signed up to be a.manager and not talent

The dude should know that managers will be nothing on main roster

I mean look at titus

Wtf are you talking about? He is a talent. He was a wrestler on the short time he spent on NXT. He was called up to be on 205 Live and continued to wrestle on that show after becoming Lashley manager. You are not following his career if you think he’s only there for Lashley.

He will not work based on his history

Tna bound

WWE wouldn’t have hired him if his history was a problem. The guy no sold being powerbomb from a top of a ladder through a table after all.

Mark henry on lio

“You’re likely not going to run into someone who knows the system like I know the system. He didn’t do that. He lied to my face. Sometimes you have to talk to people that know more than you do.”

“If you can’t pay for a rental car, you can’t pay for a hotel with the money that you’re making every week then you need to change the way you’re spending. You can’t blame that on the office. If you spent everything before you got it, that’s your problem.”

Source: today’s Busted Open show

“Back in my day, they would’ve told him, ‘Lio, Bobby shouldn’t have to drive. He shouldn’t have to carry his bag.’ Yokuzana was my responsibility.”

"After these comments he’s gonna have to go somewhere, or the company’s gonna have to tell him “good luck with your future endeavors.”

“It’s not a race issue. It’s an ego issue. Who are you? Nobody is exempt from being respectful to the business and paying homage to the guys drawing money. We all have done it. Steve Austin did it. The Rock did it. You better than The Rock? Get the hell outta here!”

Refusing to do something menial because you’re worried about your public image? Dumb. He says it’s not a race thing but then says it’s a race thing in the same breath. Doesn’t matter how long you’ve been wrestling. If you’re new to a company you’re going to be assigned “young boy” tasks. Happens in ROH, New Japan and WWE.

Wanting Bobby Lashley Merch Residuals? Why? Last time I checked he isn’t Bobby Lashley.

Being broke all the time? It depends on how you spend that money. A lot of old and even current guys have broke down how life on the road and working for WWE is. 1/3 to taxes, 1/3 to Food and Lodging, 1/3 is actual money you’ll see. It’s why they have money management classes at the PC, to help guys not fall into a pit. Lio not having money is likely on Lio.

Him flat out ignoring advice from veterans no matter how little or how big said advice is also is a no-no. As is making fun of talent for getting fired.

He’s just trying to come across as a victim and I don’t really buy it.

He’s a 24 year old in this day and age… Not saying all 24 year olds are like him, but plenty are like him.
Entitled shit.

They are using his shit for Bobby’s merch. If all the catchphrases being used on them are his brainchild I don’t why he shouldn’t get a cut. He just wants his credit.

So? I doubt any of the creative that comes up with catch phrases, sayings etc or artists for their t-shirts get any kind of residuals. What makes Lio so special?
