Backed by big money is huge. It means they can at least NOT lose talent to WWE over a ton of money.
WCW, ECW, and TNA had varying levels of success depending on what metric you go by. They’ve also made mistakes and fell apart. I imagine AEW is aware of what did and did not work.
If they cater to the smarky crowd only and they do not reel in the casual WWE audience, then their upside is limited. Or maybe they try to go after that WWE crowd, but end up upsetting the smarky crowd. They could do pretty well and/or they could fail for an entirely different reason.
There are a lot of questions still and I totally get the pessimism, but as of now, they do have something tangible.

Bayley has always been super cut with a nice butt. I remember when she debuted in nxt she was wearing adorable green tights with a triceratops and robots all over them. I was in love.

This is wrestling. The business is inherently grimey. The best and most successful guys tend to screw a few people over. RoH getting burned for AEW to rise is nothing. RoH had been struggling to keep itself relevant for years. Breaking New Japan into the US market is all they’re good for these days.
That’s because lizard man is a fucking terrible booker who doesn’t push new stars and constantly shoves Jay Lethal down peoples neck.
When Adam Pearce and even Jim Cornette had the book they had a lot going for them. But The locker room basically started a coup and got Cornette fired and iirc when Sinclair bought ROH from Cary Silkin they fired Adam and promoted Delirious to head of creative.
I’ll take Lethal over Matt Taven. He’s not bland and boring like Taven.

When it was announced that AEW signed Nyla Rose, a transgender woman, to their women’s division…quite a backlash online.
