Supposedly, Lana and Rusev got dropped from Total Divas because the show’s target demographic didn’t like them. Dem bitches don’t deserve Ru Ru.

AEW is off to a good start: Good talent, money/owner backing them, a sold out show, and raising WWE’s eyebrows.
But it’ll take time and they’ll still have a lot to do: Can they sell out more shows? Do monthly shows? Weekly shows? Get a TV deal? Put out quality content? Get and retain talent? etc…

This is the biggest one. I never watched ROH or TNA cause it wasn’t on a huge network that I had access to. Only WCW had that power. And ECW when they went to Spike.

TNA had many opportunities and squandered all of them for jarrett, russo, and dixie
ROH is doing well in syndication and is owned by a billion dollar conglomerate
Neither has the respect of njpw.
Without new japan aew would not exist. This is why they want to keep having those paydays and want to grow that relationship.
WWE makes billions
NJPW makes millions, and are working on western expansion via international tv deals
If NJPW gets on a bigger network than access things get very interesting.
But njpw is strictly a japan product. Wwe is a world wide product with a base in the us.
If AEW delivers on a big tv deal and secures a touring schedule things get interesting.
I would hope the khans looked to disney on ice and harlem globetrotters tour people as people to head up tours.
They managed to deliver on their hype so far. Got some big names, and managed to sell out it’s first show. If they can land a major TV deal then they’ll have all they need.

I honestly don’t understand or get the appeal of AEW.
you guys have the most hilariously bad complaints about AEW. They’re building the company from the ground up.
They’re putting the company together as a roll out to their shows. Sure it could fall apart, but it could also be great. I’m not going to expect a company to be amazing from the jump. But right now they have well respected talent that helps them get other well respected talent.
Its a new US based promotion that is being funded by billionaires. Wtf is not to get from the talent perspective? A lot of wrestlers can go to a promotion that does things differently from the WWE. I don’t like the name, but the west desperately needs another big promotion to compete with the WWE. The amount of talent that gets wasted is hilariously high. A lot of cats could use a different venue to work on getting themselves over.

They should really not be selling to us the small hardcore internet streaming fanbase. Or those in the arena. They will not bring money to aew.
They hired nyla rose a m2f transgender wrestler. They have a bunch of guys who would be midcard. Then cody, jericho, kenny at the top.
They have guys who we don’t know their status in penta, fenix, and pac who would prop up any wrestling company.
But it just feels like a super indy. Like the bucks are showing super dragon and excalibur that pwg could be this big if you tried.
Let me say this. I am happy that Excalibur is getting a deal. I hope with schaivone peacing out from mlw this means he is part of aew.
Heck if chuckie t is aew, he pretty much gets his shot at color.

I don’t like who is running AEW. I don’t like the elite at all. They know how to get themselves over through pretty much every avenue of wrestling except for actual wrestling. Kenny is sorta the exception but I find him grossly overrated. His matches bore me to tears.
Being backed by a big money player doesn’t mean shit. Look at WCW and TNA.
Signing a bunch of amazing talent doesn’t mean anything. Look at WCW, ECW, and TNA.
I also don’t like how AEW came to be. The elite used other promotions (ROH and New Japan) to build themselves up, give them notoriety, use them as a platform and then fucking dump both of them like a bad habit. Hell, they basically announced AEW’s launch during the last ROH show of the year last year. That is super fucking Grimey to me. They walked all over ROH and New Japan. I refuse to support that.
Cody is a boring 3 star general of a wrestler.

That big money was one of the major reasons WCW failed. It was hemorrhaging money and AOL was like “Lolol wtf are you guys doing? We’re not supporting this anymore” and put wcw up for sale because it was a lost cause. They were losing millions of dollars a day. It’s how and why Vince bought WCW for basically pocket change.
Also most of that talent was stolen at the beginning of the Monday night wars before guaranteed contracts became a thing which is solely because of Bischoff, Hall and Nash. And those guaranteed contracts ended up being a major issue down the line too due to clauses in Hall, Nash and Hogan’s contracts (if someone got signed for a higher pay than them all three of them automatically got a pay bump so they would get paid more than that person)
Jay Lethal pretty much said fuck the elite because by taking the elite and scu. They basically left roh with nothing.
But roh has rush, cobb, brody. They have lifeblood which is a good group of talent.
Roh are in the position they are in by relying entirely on the elite and new japan to anchor their shows and failed to build anybody or keep talent happy enough to stay
New Japan prepared for this by jobbing the elite to bullet club
Kenny worked a brock lesnar schedule and buried the native talents and guys who work all the shows.
Without the elite & kushida. New japan has pushed juice. They made ishimori the new jr ace. They put Jay White in the top gaijin heel spot. They have ospreay. They just signed ibushi. They again have a huge roster full of talented people who are over.
The bucks were not over in japan. Cody and Kenny are over in new japan and losing them is what pissed off gedo. That injury to cody fucked up the build to wk13 and cody would not be flown in for promos.
So new japan lessened the bookings of the elite.
They had them lose every match and put over the new japan guys.
ROH built everything around the elite and then jay lethal won again. And matt taven was the only guy to face him.
