The booker is the one i actually trained to wrestle with, but that was not a great experience so the less said the better.
So apparently KENTA’s name change came directly from Vince. Hhh and other executives fought Vince tooth and nail not to change the name because one of the reasons KENTA was hired was because of his name and Hhh’s plan to rebrand the wwe in the japanese market with KENTA at the forefront since he is so respected in his native land.
Vince wanted the name change though so he could be a “wwe guy” and not want people to associate him with NOAH or other japanese territories.
He let hhh, KENTA and the NXT writers come up with the name but Vince wouldn’t let KENTA debut unless he had a name change.
Vince is the Bill Wirtz of wrestling.
The sooner he dies, the better the product will be.
The sudden departures of Lesnar and Lashley must have really fucked up Vince when it came to names. It was never an issue back in the early to mid 2000s when guys competed with their real or trademarked names.

The thing about the Lesnar and Lashley, and the difference between them, is that Kenta is already a huge star. Changing his name doesn’t effect his ability to walk away from the company at all, because he can just stroll back to Japan and be a A-list wrestler again.
