It’s never coming. Just retire from VF (until VF6) or move to Japan. Or play lots of VF4:EVO Quest Mode like I do. :wasted: I’ve spoken to employees of Sega of Japan, America, and Europe within the past two months and all of them said that there aren’t even plans to port the game in the future. They aren’t even discussing it.
Sega would probably, especially with competent marketing, sell just as many copies of VF5R as Blazblue or KOFXII if they put the game out on both consoles with online play. But this is Sega so expect nothing.
The reason why BR is doing swo well is obvious. It has ANIMAL ABUSE!! Any game that lets you kick the shit out of pigs and sheep with a karate bear must be doing something right. But seriously, it’s these quirky antics that get the casual passerbyer interested. Everything after that keeps you hooked.
After all, how interesting can fighting against a non-bear opponent in a steel cage be. No matter how much sega tries to spuce it up, the sad fact is that IT WILL NEVER HOLD THE APPEAL OF SHEEP KICKING.
People that actually know how to play both games (Tekken since DR has been pretty outstanding, especially the superb BR), know that neither game is lacking in the depth or fun department. It simply boils down to preference.
Sad part is, without R being announced or even hinted at; Most of the VF community will be playing Tekken as well once BR comes out.
Don’t get me wrong I love VF. But without the newest version, online play is practically extinct, and I hit up like 1 or 2 small (really small) gatherings a year. Not enough to warrant practicing the game anymore.
i just now recently bought VF5 (because it was cheap lol) and i really really enjoy it. its just a shame that the ps3 version doesnt have online support.
hopefully whenever R releases then we wont have this problem
This. Sega is basically saying the hell with the U.S., we only care about the japan scene. And the American scene, even though it is small, is dedicated yet dying off because it.
Also, I’d like to just bring up XLcowboy’s post about SOJ’s guidelines on managing VF5R machines. That shit’s retarded.
I hope they randomly decide to play VF5 R on both consoles. They may eventually give in. Some people will buy the game if it releases. I love the game itself but yea the vf scene dying very slowly.
Well until then I will be waiting for T6: BR. That game is going to be amazing.
They need to keep trying to get the US/World attention to this game. I don’t have a 360 but I am guessing the VF5 online is probably dying down though as those players move to other games.
It’s already dead. That’s the current topic over at VFDC.
I find VF’s position incredibly… peculiar. Literally between a rock and a hard place. It’s a competitive sport/game that most viewers find dull, and thanks to management politics, there is almost zero growth, and there are hardly any new competitors. So nobody wants to watch it, and nobody wants to learn how to play it, because nobody else is playing OR watching.
Anyways, IF they release a Console version of VF5R I hope they add the old VF5 stages, I prefer the look and feel of some of them better than the R versions.
Blah I believe everybody should categorize VF series currently into “wasted potential” for now. (obviously not in Japan). At this point, people are going to continue and continue to lose interest in VF especially if the “new blood” is not released on some console.
