Yeah, I’ve been seeing this a lot lately. I think someone uploaded it onto youtube thinking it was recent. The New York Times article in question is from May 22, 2003. The contaminated medication from Bayer was administered during the 80s, from about 1981 to 1987. Some financial and legal compensation was made, but I think that bill expired. People are still making a big deal out of it because they want more action taken against Bayer and still want more done for the victims.
But yeah, that’s kind of old, unless you’re more interested in the legal aftermath of the whole situation. The infected medicine has not been an issue for nearly two decades.
