The VF5 Thread: The future IS now. RIGHT NOW

Aoi’s 43P is now a true mid, not a special mid, making it the fastest mid attack in the game. (akira double palm is technically 13 frames also but requires a buffered crouch dash from standing).

Dunno if it’s a “change” per se, but nin on vfdc has also been mentioning that you can do her PKG stance inashi and throw escape (the inashi is active for about 14 frames even if you let go to do throw escapes), which is a very strong defensive option select.

I don’t know why people don’t just sell their PS3’s and get a 360 + the game.

My friend and I have been playing the demo like it’s the final version. There’s no time limit so you can pretty much play VS. like you own the game, albeit with only 4 characters…

Is there an option to turn off the commentary (demo or full)? Its not a big deal, but is sort of distracting.

You can turn the option off in the full version.

Guys and everyone who is interested, I know the hype of SF4 is gdlk but don’t forget about VF5 in the mean time eh? Make sure to spread info on VF5’s release (WITH ONLINE PLAY) to all your friends with 360’s. It’s prime time for this game to finally get it’s spotlight in the mainstream gaming.

Sent messages to people on my Friends List to pick up the game, but I think they chose a bad time to release the game.

Fall is the busiest time as far as new releases go, but the week VF5 is coming out on 360 is especially bad for it. Guitar Hero 3 comes out the same week as VF5 and Call of Duty 4 comes out the week after.

Both franchises are top sellers and incredibly popular on 360, so the chances of people just picking this game up on a whim or out of boredom with their other games are slim (imo).

Fans of the series are gonna pick it up regardless, but I don’t think it’ll reach that wide of an audience right now.

Regardless of GH3 and CoD4, we still gotta try. Most likely DoA players, SF players, and the VF faithful will pick up VF5 just cause it’s fighting game. We need to also pull as much casuals as we can cause that’s something VF almost never gets. This is the first time VF has been put on a major console without having to directly compete with a bagillion other fighting games and it’s rival Tekken.

With the lack of an extensive tutorial mode it’s going to take some serious promoting and improvement of resources like VFDC to even get 10 new people to pick up the game seriously.

And that’s why you see me do so much work on the WIKI even when it’s not my character. We got to get the info out there.

Wait, wait.

VF5 doesn’t have the tutorials anymore?

Not like VF4EVO, no, at least according to press release given info. Weither they snuck in something before release we may not know.

We at VFDC are currently trying to get as much info on VF5 up on our new Wiki as we can. The admin Myke has put A TON of info up regarding the new system in VF5 which can serve new players well. Character specific stuff will take time but they are being worked on.

I did what I could with Wolf on the wiki for now. Once I actually have a copy of the game to practice on and get a few more matches under my belt I’ll be able to fill in some of the more subtle gaps. The sarah wiki is looking pretty good, by the way.

Count me in on the 360 version. The demo has me sold. I always loved VF4 but I wanna get into VF5 since there may actually be comp online.

Akira seems to fit my style since he offers lots of stuns and juggles that aren’t too hard for me. But, I guess I’m new to VF so what do i know.

Hey man, you like what you like, is what it comes down to. If you end up liking him in the final version, roll wit’it.

Can’t wait. I truly feel if people gave VF5 an honest go without any prejudice, nearly all serious players would enjoy it enough to compete in it. The game is so solid, it really just speaks for itself. It’s truly one of those games you get more and more out of as you learn more about it.

I also feel 5 is a lot more intuitive than past installments, so it -should- be eaier to get into it for most, albeit the lack of the awesome trianing mode VF4:EVO had.

If any new to VFers have questions feel free to ask. I may not be able to answer your question but peeps in this forum will make sure they get answered one way or another.

Damn the graphics are beautiful in this demo.

11 more motha-@#%$@# days!!!

Because the 360 hardware sucks, even besides the well-known rrod issues? I got a 360 once the vf5 demo landed, and it’s a piece of junk - cooling system & drive are noisy as hell, useless d-pad, nickel & diming you at every turn for crap like charging cables for the controller . . . the ps3 was much better at $100 difference when I got it, and at only a $50 difference by the time vf5 comes out, the 360 hardware is a ripoff.

But…the games are better

It’s going to suck if they dont have a tuturial in VF5 like they did for VF4. From what I remember the tutorial in VF4 was very informative. Just played the demo last night, so happy I invested in the joystick.

^You are going to have to learn the old fashioned way. :nunchuck:

Believe it.

Finally downloaded the demo last night. I’m loving the game :wgrin:

EDIT: And I’m gonna do my part to hype up VF. Time to start new threads in the other gaming forums that I visit. WOOOOO!

Hey guys ElectricLeo from VFDC has the finished 360 version, if you have any questions please ask him over there.
