The VF5 Thread: The future IS now. RIGHT NOW

Wow, that sucks. They shouldn’t be working there if they can’t figure that out. :o

It’s just like the doa stick, except it’s a darker white and a green design at the bottom of the face saying EX2. I went into eb not even expecting it, looking to buy something else, but i saw the stick and i bought it instead lol. The cashier was like “You’d buy this over bioshock!?”

GO GO GO!!!

EVO Live video stream…VF5 on now!!!

what’s the VF5 equivalent of feng from T5DR

and where can i find a tier listing

Gameplay-wise or just aesthetically? I’d say that Lei-Fei is your bet. He’s basically your shaolin monk with a bunch of stances and Jet Li-like moves. He’s really good in VF5 last time I checked (near the top tier). I guess you could call him Feng with much more stances.

You should be able to find a tier list for Ver. B in the VF5 strategy thread in the Other Games section. I don’t think anyone’s made a tier list of Ver. C yet.

Id say Lau

S: Shun, Pai, Lei Fei, Kage, Eileen
A: Wolf, Vanessa, Lau, Jacky, Brad, Goh
B: Jeffry, Lion, El Blaze, Akira
C: Sarah, Aoi

Feng equivalent? Kinda hard, but maybe Lau. Lei-Fei if you’re going for the funky cheek-bone shit.

I think there should be an equivalent (gameplay-wise not superficial appearances) listings.

Attempt (what I remember from Tekken):

Akira: Julia, Paul (?)
Aoi: Asuka
Brad: Steve
Eileen: Ling
El Blaze: ?
Goh: ?
Jacky: Lee, Law
Jeffry: Jack 5
Kage: ?
Lau: Feng?
Lei Fei: Eddie/Christie, Lei?
Lion: ?
Pai: ?
Shun: Lei
Sarah: Lee, Bob, Baek
Vanessa: ? (Murdock, but only for the tackle)
Wolf: King, Jack

That was shitty. Help?

Kage is definately yoshimitsu minus the sword and mist. I’d say pai fights more like asuka also.

hey thanks for the responses guys. what i meant by, “most like DR feng” was gameplay-wise. e.g. strong, fast mids, fast lows with frame adv on hit (but also high risk high reward big damage lows), good punishment and a couple of moves good enough to spam. no stances though; learning the basic movelist for the character im playing AND how to block other characters weird strings is enough.

ive been learning jacky lately, and i like the way he plays… except coming from a tekken background where strings ending in high hits usually gets a guy WS juggled for half life, i feel kind of exposed sometimes. is brad really A tier? all i ever see in vf matches is brad losing.

what’s the diff between ver b. and c? and what version is the ps3 console release?

For the love of GOD

VF isnt about tier list and how similiar are they to Tekken characters.

When you play VF you go through a movelist or find a fighting style that suites you. Then you can spend hour and hours learning everything about that character and still know nothing.

The characters are very well balaced unlike other fighting games and the reward of mastering feels great.

Good luck to you all and I look forward to reading all the bitching about LAG come October

I actually like that VF5 to T5DR list because I’m trying to learn Tekken and I have no idea where to start as far as characters go; there are just way too many.

yeah it would be Lau, he has very strong mids and long range attacks. Although, he does have a stance move :x

In VF, there are only a few lows that even give advantage on hit. Most are - and on CH many are just even.

Well, this is Shoryuken… :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m just trying to spark an interest in the game, because I wouldn’t have pick up Evo if I didn’t know there was a character similar to Lee.

Yeah, instead if you want lows with ‘adv’ on hit, just look for ones that will knock down, those are more common and those that give + on hit.

Also props to Ohio VF-native Sean Howard for being a top-placing American player in Evo. :> I don’t think he practiced in VF5 much either compared to GGXX.

Pick a Mishima. Practice this…-> * qcf
Among other things.

Seriously, mishimas are godly

Question- why did Aoi drop so much from Evo to 5? Any particular reason.
I’ll probably still use her when I get the chance, but curious as to why.

I think it’s pretty much the same reason as Sarah.

Low Damage Potential
Getting that damage is hard and can be unsafe sometimes
Yomi reliant

For Aoi specifically, she has a 12 frame jab last time I checked which sucks, she also falls prey the worst possible combos.

^makes me sad as an Aoi player. At least she has all that tricky stuff with move cancels, but having a slow ass jab makes it harder to capitalize after said cancels. :frowning:

I’m glad that Nuki used Aoi to totally smoke Tokido. It really seemed like he was just messing around with him hahaha.

I played VF4 A LOT, and the only reason keeping me from 5 is the lack of it at an arcade and the lack in amount of profitable organs it would need for me to sell to buy a PS3 + game + VSHG. :frowning: VF EVO definitely got me hype though.

Well I know an arcade in San Diego has VF5 already, and I’m pretty sure places like Arcade Infinity and crosses fingers FFA will get VF5 when it becomes publically available.

Also, Aoi is a great character in the right hands as Nuki showed, and she’s even better in ver. C along with Sarah.

Yeah, Aoi’s definitely no pushover. One guy in CO plays her, and she can be downright intimidating with her crazy amount of cancels and her ability to reversal anything. Of course, she doesn’t do much damage, but once she gets going she can be just as much of a bitch as higher tier characters.
