doesn’t screw me up either, but I know a total of 3 VF players, and only 2 of them are actually any good. So you can see why I’d want the thousands of players…
But people who understand fighting games have a better chance at playing only the CPU and then coming over to play people, than scrubs who only play casual against the CPU who don’t have an understanding of fighting games.
It’s the same exact scenario when I was told that I only played people at home (my friends) and only the CPU, so I had no chance of competing with the local SC community yet I placed 3rd in their tournament and placed 4th in their next one (would have placed 2nd or 1st if I had not made such noob mistakes outside of the actual matches themselves)
Yeah, I’d agree. But that’s all I wanted, and all I expected when I bought it. I just wanted an arcade perfect version to play with others. I’m fortunate enough to have people to play with. I am however, extremely upset we cannot transfer profiles, but this is a minor beef in the grand scheme. I feel you in your frustration of not having people to play with and feel the PS3 version is lackluster for your needs. But on the flipside, they can come back and say you knew what you were buying.
That to me, makes no sense. Sony already included everything dev’s need to work with and instead we get a half-assed release. The original dev for VF5 said they would be putting everything they can into the PS3 release of VF and they didn’t, they practically lied to us.
The feature for USB memory cards, and built in memory card readers practically allows us to transfer whatever we wanted including save files and the VF replays themselves, yet we can’t transfer something as easily as a profile? What’s so hard about creating a little system where it will export a piece of data, then import the data upon loading it into another console? It’s that simple, yet it’s not in there because it’s half-assed and it’s half-assed because it’s Sega.
Yeah, and what’s frustrating AND confusing is the option to transfer profiles was available in the VF:4 version. However, it was then taken out for EVO (Which I too agree with Granby in that EVO was THE best fighting game for console to date). And then even with the complaints of that, they still leave it out for 5, which as you said is very capable of supporting profile transfers.
You never got VF4 or Evo for the PS2?That was the one fighting game that had so many useful features that even now it’s competition doesn’t bother striving for.I have yet to play any other fighter that sits down with you and actually teaches you the majority of the game system, basics, combos etc.
I got VF4 original and the VF4 Evo. I already said that VF4 Evo did a fine job but that was only because it was on the massively dominant system. Oh yeah, you know that fine system that sat players down and taught it’s complex game system? 360 is getting that for VF5. Yet another thing we missed out on. Its like 360 got VF5: Evo and PS3 gets stuck with balance updates.
Woa woa, all I read confirmed in the training is stance variation lol.
If it is like EVO’s tutorial modes I’ll be elated, but I doubt we’ll get it yet. Also keep in mind when PS3 actually got the game, and look at now when 360 is getting it. It’s quite a time-span. It’s only reasonable for them to have put more in over that time.
(I’m pretty sure when it’s all said and done we’ll be complaining again in the future when they do release official “EVO” versions for both consoles.)
It’s reasonable but our version can be patched. That’s the biggest difference between this generation and last generation. There’s no reason we shouldn’t be getting it. As I said in the other thread, look at Oblivion.
For those of you guys that did not know, SoCal crew is hosting yet another MASSIVE party during the week leading up to EVO Finals, ending with a drive to vegas to be remembered.

Yosuke, the EVO North Champion should be there as well as the possiblity of Itabashi Zangief, the EVO2k4 Champion. Also in attendence should be other out of staters and Myke, the VFDC administrator.
THis is all week long unless I’m mistaken and it’s freaking huge. Like usually 5-6 set ups going on with tons of play time or discussion and food.
Needless to say if you live in the area or want to come down to SoCal and then drive from there to Las Vegas (if that is cheaper for you). Then this is a really great event. Post up on the thread there if you are interested.
Peace out.
hell yeah im there man,
Bump because well, this game deserves it. Hell, it deserves a sticky but we’ll make due lol.
Game is continuing to grow on me. It’s crazy how much more I’ve come to enjoy the game in just the last two weeks. This is definitely a game that rewards you with fun the more you learn about it and the better the feel you get for it.
I challenge people who havn’t given the game an honest try to just really sit down with it if you have time, mess around with different characters, find one you like, and go for broke. I’m speaking outside of hype and bandwagoning when I say this, but I really feel a lot of players are missing out on this title. Same can be said for many games, true, but it’s especially true with this game.
I hope with the recent news about what the 360 version will be receiving will help boost its popularity, and I hope the turnout at this year’s EVO is grand.
Current registration for EVO west is “50++” according to Mr. Wizard.
With this game available for 2 major consoles and Sega putting an effort to promote in the North America I hope this game gets it’s much due recognition.
And it’s all due to my amazing gatherings.
I don’t really expect shit this year, but I was thinking next year(my first Evo) it’ll be pretty huge.
I expect only the hardcore this year, with up-and-comers next year

^ Wow, that thing looks pretty crappy. It’s identical to the DOA one, (which I found to be pitiful).
I’m glad I shelled out for a custom stick. Thanks TMO!!!
Really? Looks real slick and nice to me. I haven’t played on the DOA one but it looks like it will be the same style as the Hori Fighting Stick for the PS3. I had no problem with that one. I also don’t think that it will be too hard to mod.
Maybe it’s just me, but I found the stick to be too loose on the DOA stick. Also, it seemed to get stuck in the corners occasionally. It also makes a lot of noise :crybaby:
