I use the term loosely, more to mean how Namco basically dominates the fighting game scene as a whole around my way. It’s just that, at least around here, it seems that Namco rules the roost quite plentifully, with Tekken 5 one minute, and then Soul Cal 3 the next. Which doen’t rub me the right way at all, since I’m really a fan of 2D fighters and Virtua Fighter…
So, if VF5 has what it takes to perhaps de-throne the Namco stuff, or at least “split the vote” more evenly, I’d be a happy man. That’s part of the reason why I’m hoping that VF5 will go for all platforms in another year and some change. It may yet give the game more exposure, and thus more of a following, over the likes of Namco’s stuff which may end up remaining “Sony-centric” in the next generation…
Just watched the Kikizo VFTV match stuff, and WOW. I pray that this makes it to X360, and I pray that the whole Live technology that Gates has been blabbing about for games like Project Gotham that allows over 100 people to watch races in that game is used for this. Jesus, imagine it; hundreds of people watching high level VF5 tournament play going on in an arcade from around the world, connection speed smooth as a baby’s ass…damn, if there’s a game that can bring the scene back, this would be it.
You do know that T5 Premium Cab setups(JPN only, thanks to the expanded Tekken.Net system), have been doing this for a while now, right? The only difference here is that you actually get live play from outside the 2 cabs that the bigscreen is hooked up to. On the T5 Big Screen you’d get the current match, or a recorded match from a region outside of yours. Basically the T5 Tekken.Net big screen was VF.TV Beta.
“Together with the beta testing of VF5, Sega also tested out its “VF.TV” broadcasting system, which is a new attempt to bolster the Virtua Fighter community. The company will electronically broadcast various Virtua Fighter 5 contents throughout arcades nationwide. Local arcades can install a special network-enabled VF.TV kiosk, which features a high-definition LCD screen to display the broadcast from Sega.”
lol, thats like asking if vf1 can work on the NES. the detail is too incredible, ps2 couldnt even handle vf4 perfectly (shttier textures, light sourcing was bad, etc… still a good port tho) and vf5 kills anything out there on the market. i doubt the 360 would accurately port this game, highly doubtful
The characters all look fantastic, but I think Aoi looks a little iffy. She’s my favorite in 4 and will probably be my favorite in this one. Love Vanessa’s new look.
We’re not sure if its a failed evade animation or not. That footage was shown before the 2 test location days. But it seems that if a person tries a normal evade and the opponent doesn’t attack, the character does a little stumble from that short clip.
We do know that everyone can now do an advancing evade like Lion and Shun can which leaves them facing their opponents side from info from the 2-day location test event.
Wow, Akira looks fucking sick in the CG. :wow: I’ve always admired the photorealism Sega’s attempted to put into the newer VFs, that’s dedication right there.
I really, really would like to play this game…but not if I have to buy a PS3 for it (I’m still on the fence with picking one up).
