I was dicking around with El Blaze today. He has some nifty throw setups and possibilities. I’ll need to play a little more and put this stuff to use mid-match rather than in training mode.
^ I like Rocket Discharge (where he takes off running) a lot. He probably has some good stuff out of that. I just have a problem with people that can fight from a distance (mainly jacky) and people that can get out of your range quickly as far as El Blaze is concerned.
I admittedly suck at using offensive move though (with everybody. any help with this?). That probably gets him around these things.
Right now I’m figuring out pokes and shit. My Lei Fei is pretty alright. D/B kick is pretty nifty when you’re at about one character distance. Catches off guard and no one expects it.
Rocket Discharge is pretty good. Also, after a knock down combo he can do a quick body splash on them as they’re on the ground. His roll also covers good distance and can get him into good reach if someone is building distance. He also has a counter. But, I dunno if it works on his stage only or will it apply to every other stage.
Guard + Punch + Kick, then forward and Guard + Punch that goes right into a throw where he runs right off the wall. But, I think it’s only able to counter high hits only.
Right now I’m gonna familiarize myself with his movelist and shit. I just wish my friend had an extra control so I can practice this stuff against him and not the computer or the training dummy.
u/f p+k is also good to close distance. The roll goes under high attacks and u/f p+k goes over the low ones and crouching jabs. Also, if you have somebody on the ground, you can use this to jump over them as they’re rising. If they get up with a rising attack, you’re free to do just about whatever you want.
b,f+p+k is a good mid too. nice range and crumples on counter hit.
Hmmmm
This game is coming out for the xbox thank god
Parent wernt going to buy me one or let me buy one with summer job
Xbox 360 is mangable. Plus the new version will have new features(i.e tutorial). Combine this with ghost and leaderboard sytem bonafide port greater than the ps3. Hope they get a xbox three converter for my hori aracade fighting stick 3 though…(the first one in sereis not too suck!)
I think the ps3 lost it’s exclusiveness because sony rushed them because of poor sales. Sega Agreed but sony lost exclusivess…lol. I know sega would never release a newgen game as bare bones as this(it’s still great…). This of course will piss off the ps3 owners, but their is always downloadble contnent…lol.
eileen looks more appealing ech time i see her a quick string combo charactr fits my play style nicely.

After playing this game for a while now I can honestly say that VF5 is the BEST fighter i have ever played. The gameplay is just about as perfect as it can get.
We have just had two VF5 events here in Houston and its been awesome! I am glad there are so many people getting behind this great game here in America.
Really glad this game is going to be at EVO and I think after it comes out on 360, there are going to be a TON of ppl playing this fighter.
Online for Xbox??
After playing this game, I’ve started to believe that this game really requires a stick probably more than any other fighting game. Games like Tekken 5 aren’t as bad if your thumb is more dextrous than your wrist but for VF5, there just doesn’t seem to be any way to play it on a pad that is either extremely uncomfortable/awkward, makes you feel like you’re going to develop carpal tunnel or requires the use of button macros.
It’s annoying because I just bought an HRAP 2 recently.
Yeah, the only way around the stick issue is with macros. unfortunately, that’s what i’ve been doing when i go play VF5 at my buddy’s house.
plz no fanboy shit here about 360 or PS3.It’s a nuff i have to hear it at Gamepro.
There was No fan boy shit plz…im just sating the truth…im still gonna by a ps3 just not before i get 360…
Anyway does any one have srats on Eileen…
I know how you feel. My whole circle of friends refuse to play any VF without sticks present.
Guys,
Good website for strategy, tactics, and has frame data for every character in VF5 and earlier games.
I’ll post up some stuff for you guys though.

*fP+KPP with its cancels is a key move taht allows many options. Both the first and second hit on counter hit allow *ddffKK hit K as a string, or you can cancel the first hit into *ddffP+K P+G) or maximally delay it and go for 2nd hit counter hit *ddffKK hit K, meaning that the damage returns are good.
The *fP+KPP on guard will allow the opponent to retaliate with an upper class move, but if you don’t make it obvious and use cancels on the second hit you can keep using it. There is risk, but if you hit anything more than the opponent’s *dP on counter hit, you can go for the below combos.
- Counter hit *fP+KPP fP+KP ddffKK
- Counter hit *fP+KPP fPPdK
- Counter hit *fP+KPP dP PPfP
Combo 1 is in open stance against vanessa and is the most damage possible. If you wanted to carry them for distance, after the second hit you can cancel and go for *ddbbK. Combo 2 works on Eileen and Aoi, and in closed stance Kage and Goh. If you execute the elbow as a 1Fkill, it will work on Pai in closed stance.
Combo 3 if especially for heavy weights. It’s not mentioned in the chart, but against Sarah *bK will connect.
Against the characters for whom combos will not connect, you can go for only a *dP, but, after the *dP if you do *ddffP+K you can attack their techrolls with *ddffP+K dfK or ddffP+K dK. *ddffP+K dfK also works on side tech rolls into abare, and on hit causes butt stun, so you can continue to press the advantage afterwards. If the opponent does not tech roll and you stop it at *ddffP+K it is low risk. If the opponent sees the *ddffP+K and attempts a rising attack, OM K will cause a side crumple stun.
For El Blaze strats and combos, you should check out this forum board.

US players currently living in Japan: Namflow and Supergolden both play El Blaze and know quite a bit about him. They have also uploaded their vids in the announcement section of that forum.
Hope that helps. :wgrin:
If I could rep you Granby I would. Nice helpful stuff homie.
Quick Question here, is it worth me playing VF4 Lei Fei until VF5 is out, or are they too different?
after pp4p, or pppk4 what is the best option for shun? The kick follow up seems right about awful, the punch is okay but I can’t seem to follow it up. I’ve seen shu do something were shun windmills his arms and this leads to kkp or kk2pk if you have enough drinks. Any thoughts? Other than some random problems the new stance with shun is rock, also his new moves are soo good.
Gotta love getting drunk.

You are talking about the front stance that Shun has. That is a good thread regarding it.
Check out www.virtuafighter.com for more info specific to Shun.

He said the old characters are wearing out their welcome. He missed the nail and hit himself in the dick. Plus he’s a scrubby masher. Thumbs down review.
