VF5 Party at P.Diddy’s Wooohoooo:wgrin:
Not everyone in Japan plays fighting games and VF while popular still was never a system seller. Most people that have bought a PS3 either are waiting on the bigger gamess or using it as a multimedia device.
I hear VF sold 30,000 which isn’t that bad I think.
You have to realize the arcade culture is different in Japan. Console sales don’t mean shit. PS2 VF4Evo sold like nothing in Japan (less than here), yet VF4Evo was one of the biggest arcade moneymakers of this decade, it was fucking huge.
A huge percentage of arcade players don’t even own a console.
cool, thanks. why is Shun and Pai rediculously good in this game?!?
I want to learn El Blaze.
Rey Mysterio reppin’ ftw.
Well, I haven’t seen Pai that much yet, but Shun is quite nasty with his mix up and if he keeps drinking, watch out.
But, honestly, don’t worry too much about the tiers, man. Yes, there are tiers but anyone can win. Just play El Blaze and be happy, because he’s TONS of fun.
…that’s why i <3 VF! everyone has an actual chance to compete!
…even if it’s Rey Mysterio Jr.! :lovin:
First of all the PS3’s price tag over in Japan is not as much as our price tag over here (because Sony of course panders to their home market and thus the price tag is lower over there, still a lot but not as much as ours when you do the exchange rate).
Second what Dandy J said.
Third for the last time, the 360 VF5 is only for WESTERN countries, so the countries of Europe, the US and Canada ONLY. And the 360 version is bound to be region locked like most of the 360 games. Also they don’t give a shit about the 360 regardless so the 360 version would be moot. =p
And wtf is that supposed to mean, remember the Chinese? Um last I checked EVERYBODY got PS3s just to sell off at launch.
Anyone know if something like this:
would work for PS2 sticks being used on PS3? It’d be less than $30 for two, but I’d hate to throw it away if it doesn’t work (since there are a lot of stores selling these but none take refunds).
So the awesome tutorial mode from Evo got yanked, but there were rumors that some got put back. Can someone with a copy (hopefully US copy) confirm or deny if the challenges or tutorials got yanked? Can the dummy in training mode be setup again for recording X (I think 5 was the limit in VF4:Evo) number of strings, and randomly doing them? In VF4:evo, you could weight how often a particular string was done so you could setup your own ‘challenges’.
The game is in English. The problem is the manual isn’t nor do I see an option to explain the game’s system. Thanks Granby.
I’ll probably need to invest in the strategy guide or wait until a good FAQ is released.
where i get the soundtrack to this bitch?
Wouldn’t it be funny if the 360 got the better version of VF5 complete with extensive training mode?
Not really since ports that come out far after the original version usually have extra features. Have to spruce up the package somehow for the people that have been waiting and or played it however many months ago.
The VF5 manual is pretty weak. Honestly the best training is a copy of VF4 Evo, or checking out a guide or the VFDC. Certainly there will be more FAQs and whatnot up soon, especially at the VFDC, but there are already great ones up now. VF5 is not too radical a departure from VF4 Evo/FT, there are minor differences and the addition of OM/0 Frame Throws but it’s like the differences from HF to ST. You’re still playing the same basic game.
In SF the core tactical gameplay is high vs. low, and the defensive failsafe is low block. You watch for highs while blocking low. In VF the core gameplay is mid vs throw, and the defensive failsafe is 2p or ETEG (evade then input throw escapes during the evasion). The new offensive movement basically works like an SNK or CvS2 low jump - you’re not guaranteed anything and you’re vulnerable but in the right situation (side/back crumple) there is a big payoff. You typically want to use evades while disadvantaged. When you have the advantage you usually want to make them guess between getting throw, launched with a mid, or having to watch for an OM. Of course this gets more complex when you start thinking about delayed attacks and counterhit setups and sabakis but that’s basic VF in one paragraph.
^Well done. Alot of info…

News from the AOU show.
Well, I just saw a commercial for this game yesterday, so I guess they are trying to advertize it. Even though I seriously want to play VF5 as soon as possible, I’m best off waiting for the 360 version like just about everyone else here is.
no challenge mode,no training tutorial, no dummy recording, command training doesn’t even demo every move only the hardest ones. been playing the u.s retail version for a couple of days.
^^that seriously sucks! If the 360 version doesn’t include that stuff I’m going to be thinking twice about buying it. I’ll have no comp so those things will be vital plus I know I’m going to have to get a stick built and if the game isn’t stupidly good I’m not going to bother.
Thanks for answering.
FUCK does that ever suck. Had that shit been there, seriously, I’d a walked down and gotten a 60GB PS3 and VF5 ASAP.
