… Does everybody here have a T1 connection?.. better yet… does everybody here have an optical connection?.. get 1000mpbs at their house?
right… it’s only been said a thousand times as to why there’s no online support for most fighting games… much less a 3D one that’s as complex as VF is…
I know that feeling all too well… Nobody I knew except for these two guys I played in CTF every now and again in VF4 liked the game… it’s so sad…
Is that the same as how Nintendo was allowed to put only for N64 on the RE2 box, because they got a really shitty version?
the Sixaxis has a better D-pad thent the 360 controller.
-plus the PS3 will have more choices of different sticks then the sole Hori on 360.
-Since PS3 will be bigger in Asia, expect alot more controller adapters and stuff
-Tekken and Soul Calibur being PS3 bound (1st?) is a FIGHTER’s plus
at most importantly…
-VF5 comes out in February for the PS3.
anyway, going multi-console is a positive way of offering the game to more users and consolidating with the fragmented Sega fan-base that was split up when Sega went “agnostic” after the Dreamcast with various teams going to select consoles forcing Sega fans to PS2+GC+Xbox or choosing one and sticking with what they got
Looking forward to vf5 on 360, just hope they do something like the ps3 stick on 360. Can’t find the doa stick for a decent price and that is my only option… unless I get brave enough to hack a controller pcb.
I forget where I heard it from, but supposedly the VF5 stick that is being released with the PS3 version will work with the 360. I’ll try to find a source later.
But yay! Now I don’t have to spend $600 on another console. If they can just do some kind of VFtv like application for the 360 then that will be like the end all be all of fighters.
Until SF4 comes out… 20th anniversary in 2008. Capcom, ya’ll better come correct.
(yea right)
You say that as if it really matters. If people can walk into a store any day of the week after VF5 releases and pick up a copy of the game AND a system to play it on, then yes, you have a point. As long as they are facing hardware shortages, coming out 6 months early really doesn’t mean shit however.
??? huh? I used to play it back when it was across from CvS2, next to puzzle fighter and Pump It Up… You’re talking about the Japanese style back-to-back cabinet, right?
do you guys think it will make a difference that the ps3’s graphic card is closer to hardware in a lindbergh cabinet thus making the ps3 port a more faithful port to the original arcade version?
what about the fact that a bluray disc will be able to hold more information than the standard dual layer disc that a 360 will use? they mention in the 1up interview that they have no problems getting everything they want on the bluray disc. (i guess to counter that you can say vf5 may only be as big as a dual layer dvd) but will the 360 have all the content that the ps3 version will without having to sacrifice something?
what about load times? vf5 on ps3 will have part of the game be able to store and load from the hard drive. does 360 have that kind of feature? (the 360 is supposed to have more ram i think but i don’t know if this will affect load times)
PS3 version might look a little prettier, but will likely be pretty close
No 3d fighter has really used a ton of space. Odds are that this wouldn’t be a problem
Load times- more RAM usually helps loading time- but I think both load from HD. Hell the PS2 HD does that. I’d rather have quicker loading then prettier graphics.
My real concern- microtransactions for customization. I’m just hoping they switch to a points system, not a requirement to win 10 matches vs Genius level opponents without a backdash… that was ridiculous.
Right, I don’t mean to do a derail but could someone tell me what is so great about the A.I in this series?
I’ve been told that VF is pretty much the only fighting game series with worthwhile AI (i.e it’s actually an effective teacher, and that sounds really cool).
CF bought VF4 around '01 and had it in a standard cabinet. In '02, Evo was out and CF didn’t want to buy it. So a couple of guys pooled their money and bought the Evo arcade board. CF placed the Evo board in a slim Naomi cabinet of their own.
Even though the slim cabinet had a high-res monitor, it didn’t have lot of elbow room. So near the end of the year in '02, the VF players bought an Astro City dual cabinet and that was at first placed next to the CVS2 machine at first and then moved the opposite way months later. The dual cabs stayed at CF till late '04.
The VF players bought Final Tuned and moved the cabs out of CF. The cabs have been at 3 seperate gamecenters from 10/04 till present. The cabs are now at one of the guys apartment and we play every other Friday. (which happens to fall on today :wgrin: )
CF still had the original VF4 and decided to place it in the slim cabinet where it still stands today. Nobody plays on it.
When VF5 drops, the NYC VF crew is not sure where we will congregate. It will either be Web2Zone or NYCLAN. But for now, if anyone wants to play VF in NY/NJ area, just let me know. If my friend with the cabs can’t host people I can run FT via supergun.
the game has a quest mode… in which a player travels throughout a virtual city to different arcades and conquers players… however, the players that they conquer are modeled after actual Japanese top-players, with their patterns, signature combos, blocking frequency that variates from high and low, tech throw frequency, and several other play patterns (basically the same system that the game judges you on), and incorporates it into the game. The training mode is also wonderful for teaching you how to do stuff, because it teaches you how to move around, block, and tech at the same time… and most of the other necessary techniques needed to get good in the game…
@Shag- Thanks for that whole explanation. thumbs up, +rep coming your way.
