The game looks hot and all but after looking at the Jeff video my only grip is the Voice acting…sheeh ‘‘You better take me seriously’’
Yes, this game seems to have some cheesy lines. My favourite one so far is from El Blaze when he does a throw off the wall. “Wow, hotdog”. o_O
Wow I don’t know if Shun had some of this stuff in final tuned. But Damn all this Shun stuff I’m seeing his amazing! He has some sort of crazy dash cancel thing? And by the looks of it some new low mid mixup moves? Maybe another stance? Damn shun looks hot in this I can’t wait!

appears to be alot of videos. been watching them for the past 2 hours
I’m a Lau player and i’ve been playing VF4:Evo sicne it came out. I haven’t played FT one time. Has anything changed with Lau from VF4:Evo to VF5?
Considering Jeffry’s been shitted on since VF1, I think he deserves at least 3 different 70% combos that work on all weight classes to make up for the rampant low-tierdedededness.
IT SEEMS TO ME (HUHUHU) I’M TEH WINNAR!!!11!1! >=O
I played VF a little bit last month when it first showed up at the red sega arcade in akihabara. Only played a few hours for about three days but it seems like they need to work on character balance. Jacky and Lei Fei overly difficult to deal with and the two or three players using these characters while I was there had the longests streaks. I mainly played akira and shun but I quit playing the VF series seriously after team battle so I was rather rusty.
All the laus i’ve seen have not been very good, it terms of combos i aint seen anything different, seems like alot of characters have gotten some sort of dash cancel or unique movement, kage jackey, shun, jeff, lei, lion.
From what you’ve seen so far who would you say has been improved the most? just your intial impressions, i think aoi and kage, of course saying kage improved seems like an oxymoron seeing as how good he has been over the years but i think in 5 he really has alot going for him real strong mixs up decent throws good combos from what i see. i’m gonna mention jeff to not because of that combo he just looks more complete and finally looks like he has a real throw game as well as a good striking game, of course these are just inital impressions.
Also any characters you’re dissapointed with? I feel a bit dissapointed with sarah and lau i dont really see what’s different about them of course it could be just the players i’ve seen using them but they dont seem as fresh as jeff kage or lion aoi brad
Jeff, Lei, Vanessa, Brad, Wolf seem to be most improved.
The most powerful characters right now are Kage, Jacky, Akira (what a suprise).
I can’t wait to play VF5 when it hits the PS3.The game looks real nice. El blaze is hilarious with that voice of his, LOL. “Start running NOWWWWWW!”, and the screen shakes. Hehe. A bit goofy but still funny nonetheless.
rip lion
whats so broken about that?
lion is my boy but he had that shit coming:sweat:
step in the ring with a grownass nigga and thats what happens:wasted:
this game is still 3 buttons right?
Yes, every version of VF uses 3 buttons except for VF3.
VF3 added a fourth button for evades. VF4 removed the button and evades were done by tapping the stick up or down.
Haha yeah his voice is kinda weird but its funny
so ive been watching alot of videos, and it looks like it plays like doa4.
no spacing and alot of offense. floaty kinda feeling to it
what makes the vf series so good?
VF is so good because it is 1000x better than Doa.
Being able to pick any character in the game and knowing you have a 50% chance of winning, knowing that dedication pays off, this is what makes vf not only the best 3d fighter the best fighter period.
VF arguably rivals chess in terms of depth (or is a step below), it is arguably the deepest video game of all time.
what makes it so deep, and 50% chance isnt that special.
compared to tekken and doa. whats it have, that those games never had, or didnt do right
VF4 has a forced guessing game (ie you cannot duck a throw at more than -3), forcing the player on defense to do something. In Tekken the safest method of desense is to stand and watch for low/throw, but you are still doing nothing. In VF you have to act; evade and buffer throw escape, evade -> crouchdash cancel, backdash -> evade, attack back, use a magic, backdash -> attack, etc.
VF is frame-accurate. If you are at -13 and your opponent does a 14 frame linear move and you buffer in evade, you will evade it. The input buffer allows you to perform moves with exact timing. For example, if you are +2 and do a 14 frame move, it will always beat 12 frames and slower moves (by speed) with no inconsistencies. Also, when moves trade (hit on the exact same frame), the move that does more damage wins. If they both do that same damage, both players get hit on counter.
Strings are hella delayable, adding to the setups and mindgames. You know how delayable Jin’s LS is? 98% of the strings (even if it’s just 2 hits) are that delayable. You can make flowcharts easily using the G button, which clears the input buffer (ie, you want to do 2 single P’s instead of PP, just hit P,G,P).
Evading is accurate and not hitbox-based like in Tekken. There are 4 types of attacks in relation to evades; linear (can be evaded both ways), half-circular back and front (can be evaded to the character’s back/front), and full circular (can’t be evaded). There are never hitbox issues with evades. Never. There is no random factor that isn’t perpetuated by your opponent.
There are things that depend on foot position. It’s called closed or open stance, depending if you and your oppnent’s feet are parallel or perpendicular. Combos, the evasion properties of certain moves, evade direction, all depend on seeing foot position. It is basically a version of hit-checking, but isntead of being used for combos, it’s used for defense and flowcharts as well.
