The VF5 Thread: The future IS now. RIGHT NOW

thanks cygnus!
finally we get a vid with sound for the Raft Stage. Imagine fighting a crazy Shun with that music in the bg for that stage, it fits well.

Kage has been pretty dominant in these Location Tests, not surprised.

The bigest suprise is the amount of matches that El Blaze players have been winning (for a new character) I never seen him lose in these Locat Test vids.

Vf4:EVO did that already and about 100x times better at that.

ok now i founda copy of VF4:evo can some tell me the button layout for the arcade so i can set it for my stick?

-P-K
G

P = jab button
K = strong button
G = short button

um my memory card isnt saving any of this… any idea why? I have a save file made but it says file save failed even though it made a saved game when it says it failed. Is this normal?

Edit: I picked up Lion good or bad choice?

Evo is balanced where you can do well with any character. But lion is an excellent choice. good mids and lows. He’s a poking fiend in the right hands and his throws can set up good damage too.

it’s a problem with the ps2 versions of both vf4 and vf4e.
when it doesn’t save it tells you it failed but even if it does save with no problems the text messege is still the same (telling you it failed).
i created like 5 dfferent datas till i found that out.

I think he meant free battle. In T5 Arcade, you just fought people and won money every battle. There were no limitations on your skill like “don’t back dash” or whatever. VF4 had the better customization options, but T5 had a more fun “quest.”

:rofl: :clap: Awesome!

You can do well with Goh? Against good players?

Yeah, but it’s hard. Goh is definitely at the bottom. But you know what’s harder than playing Goh against good players? Finding players good enough so that the character you use even matters.

Goh honestly isn’t that bad If you know what you’re doing and your opponent doesn’t you’ll always win in this game. Goh takes patience. use his d/f + P to set up throws and buffer his shoulder.

My top Goh moves:
b, f+p (combos into p, F+P+K, P+K, if they fail to rise quickly you can ground throw but it isin’t guaranteed)
F+P+K, P+K (the second hit is delayable
K decent but only use at max/near max range as it can be throw guaranteed)
D/F K decent as a knd kick with good range
U_D +P+K (can annoy the crap out of ppl)
F+P,P delay the 2nd punch and mix it up between 2nd hit and throw
B+P (guarantees a low throw on counter)
D/F+K+G, F+P+G on counterhit (good damage and ducks under highs)
D/B+K+G decent trip mix it in but use sparigly
FC > F+P+K, Goh’s shoulder can set up a good guessing game if you know how to crouch dash in for another shoulder or throw. If guarded you can be thrown but you it’s attack safe
Throws, Goh’s throws do great damage

I have to correct you on some things.

The chop has to be counter or recovery hit for any combo opportunities. This combo only works in closed stance.

<nitpicking>You only need to do F+P+K, P to do this move, second p+k is not necessary.</nitpicking>

That is false. Goh’s neutral kick is -6 if blocked. A move needs to be -8 or more to be throw counterable. If Goh does not attack after blocked K, he can get thrown because he doesn’t have enough time to duck the throw. Normal time to go into crouch position is 7 frames, 6 if you crouch dash.

I’d use this move sparingly, its very slow and leaves you -15 if blocked.(throw, and fast moves up to elbow class guaranteed) This move is best used when your under frames as it will beat standing and low punches clean due to its evasive properties.

I’d also like to add that b,df+p is a good move. It hits low, has good range and safe on block

Can I quote this and put it in my sig?

god this game is looking beautiful…

Sure you can.

Here’s a Lau vs Aoi, the Aoi is Kofu Megane, a well known Aoi player. Password is “aoi”.

I don’t think there will be many matches until Tuesday or so. The video rendering service is down for maintenance for a couple days.

Good work. I haven’t used go in a few weeks. My ps2 is at a buddy’s house so i couldn’t test and I was too lazy to get the move list from VFDC.

I honestly thought (after being thrown so many times by the CPU after a standing K that it was guaranteed. I’m the only one in our small group that knows how to use Goh, and I’ve never had the chance to throw Goh on block and eat an attack for it. Thanks for the clarification (and yes i know training modes can show you all the guaranteed attacks for a given char.) :tup:

Its all good man. Us Goh players need to help each other out.

I’m hoping he gets out of low tier status in VF5. I’m digging his new moves from the vids that are out now.

This just came in, vids from an all Goh tourney a few weeks ago. Its VF4:FT though.

Supposedly a new version is out, and they dropped the price to 100 yen. And the rounds seem to be set at 2/3. :confused:

Here’s a couple guys trying all of Lei’s new stance transitions.
