The UMvC3 Tron Bonne Changes

this is the saddest changelog thread i’ve had to read. tron was easily my favorite character, understated potential, super-super long combos, dat j.H, DAT GUSTAFF FIRE ASSIST…
heartbroken over here…

**Nerfs:**Characters can no linger block while air dashing. Gustav Fire is now a laughable assist. Jump H knocks characters only into drill range. Beacon Bomb no longer traps opponents in combos. Hit stun scaling hits her combos harder now. etc. etc.
Buffs: Faster Servbot launcher
Awesome.

I really really want to make her work in ultimate but apparently Capcom doesn’t want me to. The thing that irks me the most about this whole thing is that all the higher tier characters aren’t getting hit nearly this hard. They gave Mags a freakin gravity push/pull attack ffs. How the hell are we suppose to compete with that.

When you compare Trons Changelog to Doom, Hulk, Thor, and especially Magneto, it’s just sad.

Mags and storms new moves are the silliest things capcom could have given already REALLY good characters, especially Mags. Disruptor is still really good, and he still gonna be good at rushdown, and now he has literally been given the BEST zoning/keep away tool a character could have.

Just because of that one new move, Mags is coming out net-buffed. Despite all the nerfs and new weaknesses due mvc3 system overhauls, that is a move that is pure, 100% buff to a character. The only way that move won’t break every single matchup mags has versus a non-zoning character, is if the move is complete ass.

It’s either/or, it can’t be “kinda good” or “situationally bad” it’s either shit tier, or it’s the move that will break Magneto and result in a patch.

was it really just PR Rog that made capcom go all batsht on Tron? It’s not like she had any presence at EVO… aside from winning, that is :smiley:
but everyone above her got nerfs, but nothing to change around as much as her, and everyone below her got crazy buffs… in other words, definitely low-bottom tier now. TT_TT rip tron. might just stick with “vanilla” now.

At this point I’ll be happy if she just makes it out of this with some new, unique, useful move:wasted:

I used Tron for a while from release to about July I think. It’s just sad what they’ve done to her. Maybe their plan is to buff her “zoning” tools to fit in with the overal buffs to zo–

Did they really take out Boulder Canceling from the previous builds?

The reports say that yes, her boulder cancel is gone. Because something that was put in to replace an unreasonable nerf, and under-compensated even then, was apparently too good for poor Tron.

I was genuinely looking forward to boulder canceling, because that might have actually improved her zoning game, as well as her combo game. Does it makemupmformall her nerfs. NO. But it’s not horrible.

But Nooooooooooo, tron cannonly get more servbots. Whoop dee fuckin doo

man, just reverting her j.H to what it was before would solve a lot of her issues i think…
can’t even beacon bomb off of otg assists though, so when do you beacon bomb??? took out all combo ability for that move…

Hey, if you’re still up for it; would you (and/or anyone else with access to UMVC) please test out the bNb I posted earlier in the thread? If you wanna try it, make sure to use Jam Session, Hyakuretsukyaku, Drones, etc for an assist. Only try it on characters at least ‘Cap size’, that are either on, or close to the ground. :sweat:

**jH, jRDP-H (Mash), jMMH, jRDP-H (Mash), sM (1-3 hits), S, jMMHS, dH + ASSIST, (add jM if Jam Session), jH, jS, ****sH, SRK-XX, sH, **RDP-H (Mash, Premature Cancel), QCF-XX

The things to worry about for this combo are:
>Meter Gain nerf (estimated to be 10% according to Max, it shouldn’t matter judging from the surplus meter left)
>Hitstun decay changes…

It’ll probably get up to Jam Session and stop working. Even then, you won’t be building the 2 bars needed.

Why wouldn’t it work there? If dH and Jam Session are done at the same time, wouldn’t it ‘hold’ them, or am I missing something here? And even if the second bar isn’t built (assuming the full combo works), the King Kobun would lead to 650k-690k damage…

Edit: I swear to god, if this is what Max meant by, “Assists are affected by hitstun scaling”… :mad:

The timing might be tight, but I’ll bet you can probably still link jam session to j.S, then straight to King Kobun. Mashing the Drills might not work, though. In fact, it might be better to omit the second drill altogether.

Also, you guys seriously need to try using beacon bomb outside of combos more - it’s a good move.

It’s decent once it awhile, but as an long range special/anti-air it’s ass. Horrible durability, startup, active frames, and recovery. Great She-Hulk troll nonetheless.

I will definitely check that out, however, going by what I could do last time, i’ll be damn surprised if I can land the Standing-Medium after the air drill.

Beacon Bomb only really works against She-Hulk and Haggar. It might be the least durable projectile in the game, I’ve literally never seen it beat or even trade with anything.
