Welp, you’re right. Dunno why I thought it was cancellable… maybe because I get a kill off of st.H sometimes after King Kobun.
Is it really that bad? I had heard about the nerf to the assist and jumping heavy, but did Tron really get nerfed that hard. Is she going to be playable in Ultimate at all? I really like tron as a character and to play as in both MvC2 and MvC3, I hope I don’t have to drop her. It kind of sucks that capcom has been nerfing her so much. From what I saw she was a really good assist but would often struggle on point. Not to mention a number of bad matchups. I just don’t understand nerfing bad characters.
I WANT to imagine that they simply haven’t fine-tuned some characters yet. I WANT to imagine that they kinda left tron, Haggar, hsien ko, shuma and Jill for last, and they’ll all get what they deserve.
But what I want and what I get tend to be very different things. That’s life.
From what I’ve seen now, I’m pretty sure that Tron would have taken a pretty large drop in Ultimate even if she had been left untouched: the universal hitstun scaling nerf hits her VERY hard with or without the other nerfs.

She needed buffs. Big Buffs to her hitstun deterioration (and maybe damage scaling, but mostly hitstun).
seriously, the lowered universal Hitstun hits Tron worse than any other character I can think of (correct me if I’m wrong). Ironically enough, the Cancelable boulder buff, which is actually REALLY NICE, is almost negated because even with it her combos are still affected by Hitstun deterioration too heavily, thus shortening them drastically.
Without Gustaff Fire, Tron is pretty much useless in high level play in vanilla.
Coupled with the nerfs to J.H, J.S, Beacon Bomb, and S.M… She’s straight to low tier pile. Oh… not to mention gustaff fire on point was really important in a lot of matches…

UMvC3, add 12 characters, remove Tron.
I’m ok with losing Gustaff fire, shit was stupid anyway. Being able to cancle boulder is sexy as hell.
How is it stupid? In marvel 2, you had invincible AA assists all over the place, and some (Psy and Cyke) could cause death. In marvel 3, you have 2, (3 if you count DF Hsien Ko), and they can be hit out of them if you know how to attack them.
I actually think the game needs more defensive assists, but more along the lines of SRK actually being invincible and knocking away full screen.
I don’t like how its just a ridiculous hit confirm. Most people just use her as an assist and don’t even learn how to play her. It saddens me.
Well the nerf won’t exactly make her popular.
The number of Trons is going to be significantly lower unless she actually gets some buffs that make up for the nerfs, or retcons to the nerfs themselves.
Would just like to reiterate that in the build I played (Vergil/IF) this wasn’t there.

Really, all of her ‘buffs’ that were reported seem to be complete lies, but we’ll see in a later build.
I’ll be checking again at Expo this month. Hopefully they’ve given her something aside from more Servbots to shoot…

If this next (and presumably last) build comes out, and Tron continues to have NO buffs, then, I dont even know. I just dont even know any more.
