A continuation to my long earlier comment on what an SF general story mode narrative should be careful and should avoid.

which would be about the transitioning of stories from one game to another
Since it’s already obvious that everything need coherence and I have mentioned early easy to pickup.
They should took some pointers on how 90’s cartoons do they settle conflict and do transition to each new conflicts. each has various characters involve. Why? because 90’s cartoons are good at prioritizing and preserving characters even with different conflict each week but still everything conflicts each other because it’s a on-going series.
And a Fighting game general story should be treated also like a on-going series that prioritize characters like xmen 90s cartoon does.
Stories nowadays
Doing a skip like 3 years after stories is terrible for a fighting game.
The best example is the x-men because of it’s seamless transition to each different conflict wlike from the sentinel, to mojo then magneto and sinister.
Imagine that like it’s impossible but still most makes sense because it’s continues every character involve to each different conflict made sense. The other characters from the previous conflict would latter join-in the newer conflict.
They could even put high risk and threats but they always find a way to at-least reset things back to normal at where everything things return where it used to be that they could pick up for the next episode. This kind of story telling template would do wonders for a general story mode SF.
problems with modern storytelling in fighting games that it tries to be like a blockbuster movies and also tries to please everyone. sometimes it tries to downgrade and re-write their characters to be relatable to everyone. Instead of just doing a general story that is better for a fighting game brand.
casual nowadays had ridiculous request for fighting game stories like, like everyone should have fight along with win and lose, while they also want everyone in the character select screen to be part of the general story while asking 30 plus characters, while also expecting future DLC character being part of the stories and having a huge role, then they would criticized why the story is terrible and generic, everyone was forced and this character blah blah didn’t get enough screen time, this character didn’t get enough fight, this character is out of character… and etc rants.
that’s messed up expectation it’s like this kind of people has no idea how things works in reality. They should pick an RPG instead. They should realize that a fighting game is not a game made to priorizte stories that they expect about plot twist and surprises. Fighting Games is about range of selectable characters that there to be options to used again
NRS stories work is because of over using time travel and parallel dimensions which has no true consequences like what crossover titles are able to do.
I find it also ridiculous that some NRS fans wanted to find out what happens to the story from alternate parallel. That they want a continuous or be discuss in the latter progression story.
This people doesn’t realized that it would cause more confusion and convoluted flow of the future stories. And the fans shouldn’t be attach to those kind of characters.
And also Capcom should stop involving Shadaloo or even Secret Society to
