The Ultra Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread

What’s with the Rolento hate all over the place? I thought he was one of the more liked characters. Also, my list is

T. Hawk (he needs his story to be concluded in this game. I don’t see him coming in a sequel with a proper story)
Dee Jay (just because T. Hawk is in. You can’t leave him out if you’re adding the other SSFII characters)
Fei Long (fighting style + nostalgia)
C. Viper (do we even need a reason at this point? She has been hinted more than once and still nothing)
Oro (same as Viper)

I wouldn’t put Rose in because she had to be there in the first season instead of the shitty replacement that is Menat. Rose is one of my favorite characters, but I definitely DON’T want her in this game this late + with Menat in.

A continuation to my long earlier comment on what an SF general story mode narrative should be careful and should avoid.

The link to the earlier comment:

which would be about the transitioning of stories from one game to another

Since it’s already obvious that everything need coherence and I have mentioned early easy to pickup.

They should took some pointers on how 90’s cartoons do they settle conflict and do transition to each new conflicts. each has various characters involve. Why? because 90’s cartoons are good at prioritizing and preserving characters even with different conflict each week but still everything conflicts each other because it’s a on-going series.

And a Fighting game general story should be treated also like a on-going series that prioritize characters like xmen 90s cartoon does.

Stories nowadays

Doing a skip like 3 years after stories is terrible for a fighting game.

The best example is the x-men because of it’s seamless transition to each different conflict wlike from the sentinel, to mojo then magneto and sinister.

Imagine that like it’s impossible but still most makes sense because it’s continues every character involve to each different conflict made sense. The other characters from the previous conflict would latter join-in the newer conflict.

They could even put high risk and threats but they always find a way to at-least reset things back to normal at where everything things return where it used to be that they could pick up for the next episode. This kind of story telling template would do wonders for a general story mode SF.

problems with modern storytelling in fighting games that it tries to be like a blockbuster movies and also tries to please everyone. sometimes it tries to downgrade and re-write their characters to be relatable to everyone. Instead of just doing a general story that is better for a fighting game brand.

casual nowadays had ridiculous request for fighting game stories like, like everyone should have fight along with win and lose, while they also want everyone in the character select screen to be part of the general story while asking 30 plus characters, while also expecting future DLC character being part of the stories and having a huge role, then they would criticized why the story is terrible and generic, everyone was forced and this character blah blah didn’t get enough screen time, this character didn’t get enough fight, this character is out of character… and etc rants.

that’s messed up expectation it’s like this kind of people has no idea how things works in reality. They should pick an RPG instead. They should realize that a fighting game is not a game made to priorizte stories that they expect about plot twist and surprises. Fighting Games is about range of selectable characters that there to be options to used again

NRS stories work is because of over using time travel and parallel dimensions which has no true consequences like what crossover titles are able to do.

I find it also ridiculous that some NRS fans wanted to find out what happens to the story from alternate parallel. That they want a continuous or be discuss in the latter progression story.

This people doesn’t realized that it would cause more confusion and convoluted flow of the future stories. And the fans shouldn’t be attach to those kind of characters.

And also Capcom should stop involving Shadaloo or even Secret Society to

Who’s hating Rolento? I seen nobody hating him lol

Personally i wish we got him instead Falke

I don’t like him, but I haven’t complained about him lately. Pretty sure the last time was weeks ago, possibly during that previous conversation where someone blamed SF3 for introducing all those unfit character designs when it was really the Alpha series. Rolento being one of the worst offenders in a series that seemed built for offending.

Rolento Tier List

CVS2 Rolento
Alpha 2 Rolento
Alpha 3 Rolento
SF x T Rolento
USF4 Rolento
Final Fight Revenge

I like Rolento but the way his design was translated from Alpha to 4/XTekken was woeful.
Face was completely off and he became too goofy.
Hes the only character in the Tarot that I am not excited for but maybe they will make him cool again.
I would just love to see El Gado instead of Rolento for once or even Hollywood.

Funny that most of the possibly season 5 roster had really bad character models in the 4 series.

Rose, Viper and Elena all looked horrendous in SF4 so it will be nice to see them more on model again.

Maybe they will release new DLC Covid costumes for everyone? O.O

I like him(though I wish he didn’t use grenades). I’d just rather get Sodom because he didn’t get to come back in SF4 already.

Just add a mask option to everyone’s tracksuit alt.

I don’t like Rolento but I don’t hate him. I dislike most of the Final Fight bosses as Street Fighter characters because for the most part they just don’t interest me. I think Sodom is the only one I actually like.

I kind of dislike the idea of another FF character getting in but like I said a few days ago; at this point it doesn’t really bother me when this is obviously the swan song for the game and anyone added at this point probably won’t be in SF6 for a while. In that sense Rolento is a good pick to me.

At this point in SFV i would prefer El Gado too (due Falke being already in), specially because i see great potential on how was in Final Fight Revenge
But if we get a knife guy in SFV i guess it will probably be the Neo Shadaloo one

While at It it’s kinda sad the Neo Shadaloo crowd did’nt got official SFV profiles, far less interessing figures got one

Btw if we get Rolento i’m happy anyway despite the Falke redundancy, i think SFV Vskills/Vtriggers system will allow them to go crazy on his trickster side

I would still prefer more martial artists like Fei Long and Abel, but there the problem may not be much Rolento himself, but a smaller Season that rumors want female-oriented

In a 4-males normal Season i will welcome Rolento much more

Do you think there will be a “definitive” edition (beyond the Arcade and Champion editions)? It would be just weird to have a physical release that doesn’t include the missing 5 characters.

With the Covid thing and that, maybe they will milk SFV one last time? Season 5 characters + some new gameplay stuff?

they would just update it a definitive is likely if it’s port to PS5, but likely no additional major updates on characters and mode.

Nah they are not mutual in-terms of move-set and appeal other than the holding a stick.

Sodom or Haggar will do better. IMHO

Give me this DLC for next game to rep Final Fight

Haggar
Maki
Sodom
Roxy
Damnd
El Gado

I still crave new characters. Probably because no one has fully clicked with me yet.

To be honest, I think I’m going to need to wait until Street Fighter 6 to feel comfortable in an SF game again. Of all the SF’s, SF5 has a roster I like just about the most and gameplay that is bottom tier for me.

Maybe they add a 6th character to commemorate the PS5 port, for good measure.

Whether it’s Evil Ryu, Shin Akuma, Oni, Violent Ken, Tanned Sakura, Shadow Lady or Decapre

Carlos or Dean instead of Roxy.

Yes. Yes. Yes. No. No. No.

No more generic Mad Gear thugs. Especially not one whose pallette swap is already in SF!

And Damnd is just lame.

Agree no need for Roxy and El Gado

would go more on the boss characters more

more likely it’s on NEO SHADALOO it’s like 2-3 of them has possibility along with Rose and Oro then Decapre? because of trends and most talked about

I’m quite surprised

But, why did you dislike Damnd?

What makes you dislike Damnd?

Person who says SF already has enough pro wrestlers approves of Capcom adding another pro wrestler to SFV.

I know you already made an exception for Haggar when you made the initial complaint, but it is still a bit funny.

For me could be something like

  • Cody
  • Guy
  • Haggar —> but only if does’nt interfer with Zangief being in SF*
  • Belger
  • Rolento —> if Falke is NOT in
  • Sodom

*but in my ideal SF, Zangief is ever part of standard cast
**but in my ideal SF, Falke never eat a SF slot again

For heroes i think Cody-Guy-Haggar trio together will feel a Classic
The other 4 for a reason or another, can stay out (even if i liked Carlos)

For villains i will like to see Belger developed in a SF game, as a sub-boss allied with the actual Boss… to give proportion think back to SF2 days, something like M.Bison (New Boss) > Balrog (Belger)

Have Belger in will make also feel FF heroes involvement in SF events less random, and will like to see Rolento and Sodom working for him again

Will have loved see him in SFV and V-system to have been used to make him use (and evolve) alll his gimmicks… like the wheelchair to be broken at some point (think Vega’s claw), or him getting a definitive transformation Vtrigger (see Necalli’s) where he goes cyborg version a la MFF

Writing all this i’m not counting Hugo and Poison, who i wish to see too… but more on SF3/4 Hugo new wrestling career side, rather than FF/MGG stuff
Hugo>Abigail

Tbh i think Hugo is the best FF thing that ever made the jump to SF, and he was a not-Boss generic thug

I think El Gado in FFR was a step into right direction, would rather see a development of that rather than some former Bosses
